God of Pets

Chapter 197: Pet Immortal Fate

"Both the Pure Yang and Celestial Escape techniques have been passed on to successors. You may leave now." The three swords flew into the Chunyang Temple, the gate slammed shut with a boom, and there was no more movement.

Everyone looked at each other, this kind of mysterious land was indeed unpredictable, and they didn't know what the origins of those three sword spirits and the three swords were.

Brother Kou felt a bit regretful, but obtaining two Unparalleled Secret Skills was already a great fortune for him.

Xiu Jieming instructed Brother Kou to continue scouting ahead, following the stone steps beside the Chunyang Temple, continuing upward.

The many mysteries of Cuiyun Mountain remained, but the restrictions on ascending the mountain had indeed been broken. Chen Guan secretly speculated in his heart whether it had anything to do with the Celestial Immortal Peony on his back.

After the Celestial Immortal Peony was dug up, many incredible things indeed happened in the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm.

Chen Guan had more suspicions. The reason he could be favored by the Sword Spirit was likely due to the merit of this Celestial Immortal Peony. Otherwise, why was his test so simple?

Following the stone steps upward, the stone path wound up along the mountain, and before long, they saw another ancient and mysterious building. Inside, it was quite similar to the building of the Chunyang Temple, yet another Daoist Temple.

However, the name of this Daoist Temple was different, written with four large characters "Ancient Green Ox Temple," flanked by couplets.

The couplet on the right read: "The purple aura lingers, the Yuan Grotto Heaven Blessed Land enriches all things."

The couplet on the left read: "Auspicious clouds waft, the Clear Palace Daoist Temple preaches the Way, brings salvation to future lives."

In front of the temple gate, on either side, stood two bronze bull statues, one standing and one lying, lifelike as if they were living creatures.

At this point, the stone steps were cut off, with no pathway leading up the mountain.

"According to the records, this Ancient Green Ox Temple was originally an uninhabited Daoist Temple, the gate always open, and there were no two bronze bulls. To continue ascending, one needed to pass through the temple. With such a change occurring now, it's uncertain if the path is still passable," Wen Yutao said, frowning.

"We must go whether it's passable or not." Xiu Jieming looked towards the two bronze bull statues outside the gate.

"Commander, please hold on, let me take a look first." Brother Kou hurried ahead, moving towards the temple gate.

But before he reached the Ancient Green Ox Temple gate, those two bronze bull statues came to life, letting out an earth-shaking bellow that left everyone with splitting headaches, compelling them to cover their ears to alleviate some of the pain.

"If you wish to seek the path on the Immortal Mountain, the Green Ox will guide you to the peak." The two bronze bulls spoke, one saying the first half of the sentence, the other saying the latter half.

Everyone thought inwardly, "Here we go again. In this Ancient Green Ox Temple, there's also a secret transmission? Previously, this was rare to come by, yet on Cuiyun Mountain, there are two such places."

"Excuse me, my two Bull Brothers, what must we do for you to guide us?" Brother Kou asked.

"Not difficult… difficult…" The two bronze bulls replied simultaneously, but with completely different answers.

Brother Kou was left dumbfounded, unsure whom to listen to.

"The mountain path is hard to walk… deep clouds and mist… requires a mount with celestial affinity… only then can you reach the peak… If you have a mount… you may let us see… if it has celestial affinity… we will let you pass…" The two bronze bulls took turns speaking, making the matter quite clear.

Brother Kou turned back to look at Xiu Jieming and asked, "Commander, did you understand?"

"I understand, you may come back." Xiu Jieming called Brother Kou back.

Wen Yutao looked at the two bronze bulls and said, "It seems this time we have to evaluate our mounts; it requires a mount that meets the standards before they will let us go up the mountain. We still don't know what the standards for celestial affinity are, so we can only try it first."

Wen Yutao instructed a Second Awakening Cultivator to summon an 18th level Zhaoye Lion Horse to be examined by the bronze bulls.

Due to its good quality, the Zhaoye Lion Horse was easy to upgrade and awaken, and since the production was controlled by the Celestial Court Army, it was easy to acquire in large quantities, thus it was used as a regular mount by the regular army as well.

The 18th-level Zhaoye Lion Horse came before the two bronze bulls, the eyes of the standing bronze bull instantly widened like copper bells, and beams of light shot out from its eyes, illuminating the Zhaoye Lion Horse.

"A rare quality 18th-level Zhaoye Lion Horse, without celestial affinity." The bronze bull withdrew its gaze, shaking its head.

Everyone exchanged glances, and Wen Yutao instructed the cultivator to retract the Zhaoye Lion Horse and summon another pet for the bronze bulls to evaluate.

The cultivator hurriedly retracted the Zhaoye Lion Horse, having been accompanied by it since joining the Reserve Team. Although it wasn't his best mount, any mishap would indeed be quite distressing.

The cultivator then summoned a Steel Fierce Lion, a 20th-level rare pet, but this time the bronze bull merely glanced at it, without any beams from its eyes, and directly said, "This is a very poor pet… without celestial affinity…"

Everyone was rather surprised. In terms of Growth Rate and practicality, the Steel Fierce Lion was better and more valuable than the Zhaoye Lion Horse.

Previously, the Zhaoye Lion Horse was merely evaluated as not having celestial affinity, yet the Steel Fierce Lion was judged so poorly, leaving them unsure of the bronze bulls' evaluation standards.

Seeing that the bronze bulls wouldn't harm their pets, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, all pondering to let the bronze bulls assess their own pets for any celestial affinity.

As a result, one by one, they summoned their pets for the bronze bulls to evaluate.

After a long period of evaluation, none of the pets had celestial affinity, but among those without celestial affinity, there were differences in quality. Some the bronze bulls wouldn't even glance at, directly stating they had no celestial affinity.

Others they'd gaze at intently for a while before concluding they had no celestial affinity.

Having observed for so long and confirming that the bronze bulls indeed wouldn't harm their pets, Xiu Yingmei also became intrigued. She summoned her Gold Lion for appraisal by the bronze bulls.

The bronze bull's eyes gleamed like searchlights on the Gold Lion for quite a while before speaking, "A 20th-level Unparalleled Gold Auspicious Beast, celestial affinity 7 points, not bad, not bad."

Chen Guan had always thought it was a Gold Lion, only now realizing it wasn't a lion, but a kind of Auspicious Beast.

"Is 7 points of celestial affinity good or bad?" Xiu Yingmei asked.

"Celestial affinity ranges from 1 to 10 points. 1 point is the lowest, and 10 points is the highest. 7 points is considered passing," said the bronze bull that had been lying down.

Those who had their pets evaluated previously felt somewhat dismayed. With 7 points being a passing score, what could be said of their pets without celestial affinity?

"What's the benefit of having celestial affinity?" Xiu Yingmei asked again.

"Having celestial affinity allows you to ascend the mountain and see what you wish to see. The higher the celestial affinity, the easier it is to reach your desired destination," the standing bronze bull replied, looking at Xiu Yingmei. "Do you wish to ascend the mountain now?"

"I'll wait for them," Xiu Yingmei shook her head.

The bronze bull didn't say anything further and continued evaluating the pets for everyone.

With Xiu Yingmei leading by example, some started summoning their Unparalleled Pets for the bronze bulls to evaluate.

Without celestial affinity, they wouldn't be granted access up the mountain, so this time they almost took out all their treasured pets.
