Chapter 211: Helping You Kill

When Chen Guan returned to the reserve team, he happened to see Bu Changning at the gate.

Bu Changning no longer wore the reserve team equipment; he now had a military emblem hanging on his chest, a symbol of being an official member of the Celestial Court Army.

Apparently, with the help of Xiu Haofeng, he successfully achieved a Second Awakening and passed the test to enter the regular army.

But this was not what Chen Guan was focusing on. What really caught Chen Guan's attention was a very beautiful girl standing next to Bu Changning. The luggage box in Bu Changning's hand, with its pink color, clearly belonged to the girl.

Chen Guan's mind suddenly experienced a storm: "I've never seen this girl in the reserve team, so she must not be from there. Seeing her age, she couldn't be a regular army member, so she must have just recently awakened. Since she's not from the reserve team and has just awakened, her coming here at this time... could she be entering the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm as a relative of Bu Changning?"

Chen Guan tugged his hat, avoiding Bu Changning and the girl.

If this girl really had something to do with Bu Changning, numerous scenarios started playing in Chen Guan's mind, like 'The childhood friend falls for a stranger, coldly kicking off her close friend', 'My wife and my male boss', or 'The current boyfriend buys condoms for his girlfriend's male confidant, reminding him to be gentle as she feels pain.'

"No... no... how can I be so wicked... my merits are all gone..." Chen Guan felt that he should go back and recite the Vajra Sutra or something to make up for the merits he had just lost.

Luckily, Chen Guan kept a low profile and successfully sneaked past the two into the reserve team. Glancing back, he saw Bu Changning open the car door for the girl and escort her in, with a blissful smile that sent a chill through Chen Guan's heart.

Hastily turning around and quickening his pace, Chen Guan returned to the dormitory and called over An Yiqi.

"Little Qi, have you decided what Secret Spirit to use for your Second Awakening?" Chen Guan asked An Yiqi.

"Among the resources our reserve team provides, there are only some rare quality Second Awakening Secret Spirits to choose from. While some also suit me, I want to push myself further and spend money to go outside the Secret Realm to buy a chance to kill a World-Defying Secret Spirit," An Yiqi said through gritted teeth.

Actually, the treatment from the reserve team was already quite good. It was really difficult to find a rare Secret Spirit outside the Secret Realm.

Outside, to obtain a high-quality Secret Spirit, you generally have to spend money, unless you go to unexplored areas as cannon fodder or pioneers, where you might encounter an unclaimed wild high-quality Secret Spirit.

"Why not use points to directly exchange for a chance from our team?" Chen Guan asked.

The reserve team did have an option to exchange points for the chance to kill a World-Defying Secret Spirit, but it required quite a lot of points.

An Yiqi smiled bitterly: "Others spend one or two years accumulating points. You know the situation our Team 17 was in; we never really accumulated any points, and now, even with the massive points we earned from this mission, it's not enough to exchange for one chance to kill a Second Awakening World-Defying Secret Spirit."

"Come with me." Chen Guan, assigned to assist Xiu Jie Ming and the others, still had the task points in his hand.

Taking An Yiqi to the admin hall, Chen Guan transferred his points to An Yiqi.

After all, he was soon going to join the regular army, so the points here would be of no use to him.

Of course, Chen Guan could also use them to exchange for Elixirs or other supplies, but he thought that if An Yiqi followed him and couldn't enter the same legion, life might not be very pleasant for him in the future, so he would lend a hand if he could.

Seeing his points increase, An Yiqi didn't act coy and, after calculating, happily said: "Captain, these points are enough for me to take on the task to kill the Yin Yang Scholar. But since the Yin Yang Scholar is such a high-level Second Awakening World-Defying Secret Spirit, with a level as high as 16, I need to find a Second Awakening expert to help. Give me a few more days, and I can quickly sort it out."

"No need to find anyone. I'll help you kill him. Go take the task," Chen Guan said.

"Captain... you've had your Second Awakening..." An Yiqi exclaimed in surprise.

"Mm, hurry and take the task," Chen Guan instructed An Yiqi, and the two of them headed to the Beimang Mountain Secret Realm together.

The Yin Yang Scholar An Yiqi wanted to kill didn't actually use two swords, but he wielded a Judge's Pen in one hand and a Yin Yang Fan in the other, holding both weapons simultaneously and capable of utilizing different techniques with each hand.

The reason An Yiqi chose the Yin Yang Scholar was in the hope of a chance to acquire the Yin Yang Scholar's dual-hand Secret Technique upon attaining his Second Awakening.

The area where the Yin Yang Scholar resided was patrolled by the Celestial Court Army, so Chen Guan wasn't worried about Wang Lian causing trouble.

They smoothly made their way to Yin Yang Mountain, and were only allowed entry after presenting the task card.

The Yin Yang Scholar roamed near the Boundary Monument at the base of Yin Yang Mountain. Going further up the mountain would reveal more terrifying Secret Spirits, and even Second Awakening Cultivators dared not venture up lightly.

Chen Guan and his team certainly wouldn't climb the mountain. They explored around the Boundary Monument until they found the Book Cave where the Yin Yang Scholar resided.

"Captain, how should we fight?" An Yiqi asked nervously.

This time they were up against a level 16 World-Defying Secret Spirit, far more formidable than Underworld Blood Phoenixes. Although Chen Guan had undergone Second Awakening, it was still fresh.

An Yiqi believed Chen Guan could defeat it, but there would no doubt be some risks.

"Just go in straight away," Chen Guan advised, not wanting to waste time here as he aimed to quickly advance in the regular army.

An Yiqi followed Chen Guan inside. Some wandering ghostly Secret Spirits were resolved by Chen Guan with a single Blood Hand Seal.

The cave wasn't deep, and soon the two found the Yin Yang Scholar. Half of his face was white, the other half black; his clothing mirrored this division, and he held an iron Judge's Pen in one hand, a bone-carved Yin Yang Fan in the other.

Upon seeing the pair approach, the Yin Yang Scholar immediately displayed a killing intent, lunging at Chen Guan and An Yiqi. The pen in his hand roared with the wind, and the opened Yin Yang Fan sliced like a blade.

Wielding two entirely different weapons, he executed completely different techniques, each imbued with terrifying power.

The sky filled with pen and fan shadows enveloped Chen Guan, leaving no blind spots.

The whistling pen aura and fan wind sliced like blades, one cold, the other hot, combining yin and yang in an eerily ferocious manner.

An Yiqi was initially anxious, but in the next instant, he witnessed Chen Guan wave his right hand, launching a black transparent sword energy that split the airborne Yin Yang Scholar in half, effectively separating yin from yang.

"Just like that... it's killed..." Although An Yiqi believed Chen Guan could defeat it, he hadn't expected it to be so easy.

That was a level 16 World-Defying Secret Spirit, yet it was killed with a single stroke of sword energy, as if it were an ordinary Secret Spirit.

"Captain, you're truly formidable," An Yiqi praised.

"You need to read more, you don't even compliment properly, repeating the same few words, making you sound uneducated. Alright, quickly go for your Second Awakening. The longer you wait, the less effective it is," Chen Guan playfully chided.

An Yiqi hastily went over and began practicing the Secret Technique he had cultivated in front of the Yin Yang Scholar's corpse.

With nothing else to do, Chen Guan's gaze wandered around the Book Cave. He noticed the stone walls were covered in pages of text, as if book pages had been carved into the walls, bearing an air of mystery.
