The First Immortal of Destiny

Chapter 340: Stalemate_1

Facing the consolation of Clam Girl Ming Yu, Shen Mo was at a loss for words.

He had indeed obtained a high-grade Ink Sac from the big demon of the Marine Race who had been chasing him and had refined it into a profound level high-grade magic artifact, the Dark Cloud Bag. Once activated, much like the technique the Octopus had previously used, it would blacken everything within a radius of hundreds of miles, effectively obscuring vision and shielding sense! It was highly effective, whether for engaging enemies or creating a smokescreen for escape. Moreover, he could further enhance the range of the Dark Cloud Bag's black mist by obtaining more octopus Ink Sacs and refining them into it. If he could elevate it to a spiritual level magic artifact, its deployed power would spread dark clouds over a thousand miles. Even Golden Core Realm experts would find it challenging to locate him. It was very useful indeed!

So, he regretted that when he killed the Octopus Heavenly Demon, the blade net's sword Qi had destroyed the Ink Sac inside its body. But then again, such a high-grade spiritual material for Forging magic artifacts—even if not used to enhance the Dark Cloud Bag's quality—could fetch a high price at an immortal workshop. How could it be useless? It's just that Clam Girl Ming Yu thinks differently, that's all!

Besides this, the tough fish scales and blood-colored shells he obtained along with the Ink Sac, as well as the spiritual materials gathered from slaying Class III Demon-corrupted Marine Race during this period, were all refined into magic artifacts by him. With the Ghost Headed Saber added to the mix, Shen Mo had acquired many more top-level magic artifacts. Thanks to this, Shen Mo's previously stagnant Forging expertise saw a significant leap in his experience bar.

It can only be said that the big demons of the Marine Race possess too many treasures. This was unlike Demon-corrupted cultivators; if one obtained their belongings, they had to be returned to the original owner's faction. Of course, the Heavenly Demon Guidao had originated from the Dark Soul Sect, which was destroyed decades ago. Thus, Shen Mo had no need to return the Ghost Headed Saber and no qualms about practicing the Soul-chasing Extinction Palm. If he had slain the Heavenly Demon Pei Yu, apart from the merit of slaying demons, he would have gained very little. Conversely, slaying Demon-corrupted Marine Race yielded considerable gains! Besides the merit of slaying demons, he could also obtain their extraordinary organs, which were excellent Forging materials.

Shen Mo didn't explain these details to Clam Girl Ming Yu. After a moment of silence, he said, "Fellow Daoist Ming Yu, the demon head here has been dealt with. We can now search for the next Class III Heavenly Demon!"

"Okay. Let me communicate with the young ones of the Marine Race, and then I'll inform you where we should head next," Clam Girl Ming Yu replied. As she spoke, she gently flapped her clam shell. A swirling undercurrent, laced with faint demonic power, spread outwards.

A moment later, Marine Race demonic beasts that had been scared away by the Octopus Heavenly Demon's demonic breath followed the undercurrent and returned. These Marine Race members all possessed demonic power, but their cultivation Realm was not high, and their gnosis was quite muddled. Considering the vastness of the sea, it wouldn't be easy for Shen Mo to capture even a few low-class Marine Race members, let alone obtain useful information from them. However, the Class III big demons among the Marine Race possessed unique methods of contact and communication. They could inquire about anomalies in various sea regions, thereby determining if Heavenly Demons were hunting for blood-sustenance.

Watching Clam Girl Ming Yu communicate effortlessly with the ignorant, low-class Marine Race, Shen Mo felt a wave of emotion. Our alliance with the Marine Race as cultivators has indeed benefited us greatly!

During the alliance conference on Golden Turtle Island, after a sudden attack by more than a hundred demon heads, both Human Cultivators and the big demons of the Marine Race lost many powerful members. Yuan Chengshan, the chief envoy from the Riverside Sect and Hall Master of the Immortal Welcoming Hall, had also gone missing. This outcome was only because Shen Mo had discovered that the Shen Lei big demon was suspected of betrayal, forcing it to activate its Illusionary Realm and prematurely expose the invading demonic host. If not for this unexpected development, likely no more than a handful of the allied experts on Golden Turtle Island would have escaped!

The Heavenly Demons' actions on this occasion not only failed to sabotage the alliance but instead prompted the Human Cultivators and the Marine Race to set aside their mutual distrust and grow closer. Before long, the upper echelons of the Five Great Sects and the Demon Kings of the Marine Race forged a covenant. The agreement was similar to what the old Spirit Turtle demon had previously proposed: when the Marine Race and the Five Great Sects made joint decisions, the Marine Race would hold two votes. Simultaneously, the Marine Race made significant concessions regarding the deployment of their powerful members and the contribution of various resources.

After the alliance was formed, a peculiar sight emerged in the Immortal Burial Sea: Human Cultivators and Marine Race demonic beasts, once old foes, now traveled together in pairs or small groups. Human Cultivators readily shared strategic resources like Bone Viewing Mirrors, Demon Suppressing Pills, and Ethereal Void Pills to aid the Marine Race. Furthermore, drawing upon nearly a century of anti-demon warfare experience, they helped the Marine Race reformulate their strategies for slaying demons and stabilizing the situation.

The Marine Race reciprocated by delivering vast quantities of oceanic exotic treasures to Sea State. These were then transported via the major cities' Teleportation Arrays to the Five Great Sects, the Defense Division headquarters, and other locations. Additionally, they supplied a large number of their unique Water-Repelling Pearls. After all, not every Human Cultivator was as adept as Shen Mo at water-repelling techniques. Aided by these pearls and supported by Marine Race demonic beasts, numerous Qi Gathering Realm cultivators gained the confidence to venture into the sea and battle the Demon-corrupted Marine Race.

After a period of fierce fighting, the demon disaster was finally contained within the territory of Demon Lord Lin Gu. This was the Near Sea Demon Cave, a maritime region spanning over a thousand miles! Besides the combined forces of cultivators and the Marine Race engaging them in brutal combat, the most crucial factor was... there was little blood-sustenance left within Demon Lord Lin Gu's territory!

Under strict orders from the various Demon Kings, large numbers of Marine Race, even Class I Marine Race with muddled gnosis, patrolled the outskirts of Demon Lord Lin Gu's domain, driving away all marine creatures. Thus, they severed the supply of blood-sustenance for the Foreign Realm Heavenly Demons!

Compared to migrating and sheltering the billions of mortals from the Red Flame Country, driving away marine creatures was far simpler. These creatures could survive and reproduce almost anywhere, without needing to worry about food, clothing, or shelter. Although their numbers were immense and the sea vast, a few inevitably slipped through the net into the demon-infested regions. However, such a meager amount of blood-sustenance was insufficient for the Heavenly Demons to share.

Having devoured all the blood-sustenance within a thousand-mile radius, the Heavenly Demons in the Near Sea Demon Cave lacked replenishment. They could no longer rapidly cultivate large numbers of Class III demon heads as they had before! As a result, the overall situation once again reached a stalemate.

However, the battles both on the surface and deep within the Immortal Burial Sea only intensified. Numerous Native Heavenly Demons and mutated Heavenly Demons scattered, attempting to breach the encirclement formed by Human Cultivators and the Marine Race. The Human Cultivators and the Marine Race, in turn, fought desperately to prevent the Heavenly Demons from obtaining more blood-sustenance. Along the extensive and vast three-dimensional containment line, they clashed fiercely with countless demon heads of varying strengths.

After Shen Mo reported his safety to the Riverside Sect, the sect instructed him to remain in the Immortal Burial Sea and contribute to the great cause of slaying demons. Simultaneously, he received a non-mandatory mission: to search for the missing Yuan Chengshan. Nearly all sect experts still in the Immortal Burial Sea were assigned this task.

Thereafter, Shen Mo patrolled the periphery of the Demon Tide. He specifically dived into the abyssal depths where ordinary experts struggled to exert their full strength, hunting demon heads that ventured out for blood-sustenance. The middle-stage Class III Clam Girl, Ming Yu, was the companion assigned to Shen Mo by the Marine Race. Though her combat prowess was average, she proved invaluable in helping Shen Mo search for and slay Class III Demon-corrupted Marine Race members. With her assistance, Shen Mo had slain over a dozen Class III Heavenly Demons in this time—both early-stage and middle-stage—earning a significant amount of merit for slaying demons and numerous spiritual materials.
