"Holy shit, are you sick or something? Why is there so much blood just from you washing your hair?" Black Dart Guest was visibly shocked. As soon as he entered the bathroom, he saw a nightmarish scene with the ground soaked in blood.
He then noticed Black Gun Guest's hair growing rapidly, quickly covering his entire body.
"What sickness? I just feel itchier the more I wash," Black Gun Guest said, completely unaware of anything unusual.
Black Dart Guest hesitated, wanting to say that with how fast his hair was growing, it would be a problem if it *wasn't* itchy.
"Wait a minute, I'll help you..." Black Dart Guest said, walking over to help Black Gun Guest up. But after just a couple of steps, he saw the bathroom mirror.
The reflection wasn't his own. Instead, it was a burly, blood-red-skinned monster with twisted horns sprouting from its forehead.
The monster's facial features vaguely resembled his.
"Holy shit, I've transformed too! This must be the work of an Evil Demon!" Black Dart Guest quickly reached up, felt the horns on his forehead, and panicked. His first thought was of the Erroneous Sin; otherwise, something like this couldn't have happened.
The thought that he himself might have become an Erroneous Sin never even crossed his mind. No Player experiencing an issue in an Instance would think they'd turned into a monster. They would just assume a monster had attacked them.
"No wonder my head itches! This is ridiculous," Black Gun Guest said hastily. He swept back his hair and stood up. "Bro Dart, find me a towel. I need to dry my hair."
When Black Gun Guest turned around, Black Dart Guest didn't see his familiar face. Instead, he saw a long, white maggot wriggling continuously. Its body was covered in countless round pores from which strands of hair were being squeezed out. Copious amounts of blood also poured from the pores, flowing along the hair strands onto the floor.
"Wait, can you even see?!" Black Dart Guest exclaimed, terrified. He had transformed too, but at least he still had his eyes. Black Gun Guest, however, had lost all his facial features; the maggot's head had no discernible traits at all.
"What do you mean, can I see...? Holy shit, what the hell is happening?!" Black Gun Guest turned to the bathroom mirror and finally noticed his own grotesque transformation. His head had become a long, white maggot, and waves of nausea washed over him.
Then he turned back. "Wait, Black Dart Guest, why have you transformed too? And what's that awful smell?"
Black Dart Guest's body was still huge, but its blood-red color had deepened to black. He was starting to rot and emit a horrible odor.
Black Gun Guest could smell it, but Black Dart Guest himself was completely oblivious.
"Damn, we've both transformed, then..." Black Dart Guest was also startled, but before he could finish, Black Sword Guest walked in.
"I've transformed too. The good news is my vision has returned." A cacophony of buzzing formed a sentence, vaguely recognizable as Black Sword Guest's voice.
Looking closer, they saw a humanoid life-form composed of a swarm of mosquito-like entities walk in.
Black Dart Guest reached out to touch him, but the mosquitoes darted away, creating an empty space that his hand passed right through.
"What... What is happening?" Black Dart Guest was dumbfounded. How had they all transformed like this?
"We might not be Players anymore. Try to open the game panel," the buzzing Black Sword Guest said.
The other two hadn't paid much attention to this. Black Sword Guest, however, had been constantly checking his status bar due to his "fly vision." He noticed his Game System interface had completely vanished the moment his normal sight returned.
Neither the inventory nor the character panel responded, no matter how they tried to summon them.
The other two quickly tried as well. Their faces... well, they couldn't see each other's expressions anymore, but their moods were undoubtedly dreadful.
"It won't open. Have we turned into Evil Demons?" Black Dart Guest sounded agitated, but fortunately, his humanity prevailed.
"It should be the Rules," Black Gun Guest asserted. As their transformation deepened, strange knowledge began to surface in their minds.
"Player... shell..." Black Sword Guest muttered. He seemed like someone with multiple personalities, as if every mosquito making up his form possessed an independent consciousness.
"What should we do next?" Black Dart Guest's heart sank. Black Sword Guest's transformation seemed the most drastic.
As for Black Gun Guest, the maggot that was his head had become even more elongated, longer than his original body, but at least he had managed to maintain his sense of self.
"We need to leave this Instance as quickly as possible!" Black Sword Guest's overlapping voices urged. "Otherwise, even if we don't die, other Players will suppress us as Evil Demons! Haven't you noticed the mutual repulsion between us already?" The voices were intermixed with various strange statements.
Black Dart Guest had, of course, felt it. His subconscious was already warning him not to get too close to Black Gun Guest and Black Sword Guest, or he'd be thrown into chaos.
"The question is, how do we leave? We've lost the Game System." Black Dart Guest wanted to, but he knew it wouldn't be easy.
"It's possible," a harsh voice suddenly said.
The three turned to see the Saint Master, a being with the head of a dragon and the body of a man.
"It's you!" Anger flared in Black Dart Guest's eyes, and he prepared to attack but was stopped by Black Sword Guest.
"Can you get us out of here?" Black Sword Guest asked.
"It is, as long as it hasn't been more than twenty-four hours." Behind the Saint Master, Wang Linchi was naturally the one in control. "I didn't expect you all to be so unwilling to leave. If you had retreated then, you wouldn't have become Erroneous Sins. Ultimately, it was your own greed."
Hearing this, Black Gun Guest was the first to speak: "You're also a Player?!"
"I used to be, until the Game System screwed me over. I even missed the optimal twenty-four-hour escape window." The Saint Master spoke slowly, and it seemed to the three Players that he was adjusting something.
"We don't have much time. Let's talk on the move.
"I'll get you out, but you must expose the Game System's conspiracy."
The Saint Master led the three downstairs, all of them naturally on high alert.
"You should also know that sealing one pair of Evil Demons completes the mission, but there aren't that many Evil Demons to begin with.
"Considering the number of Players worldwide, this Instance isn't like previous ones that required high attributes; instead, it relies on intellect. This world never lacks intelligent people. What it lacks are stepping stones—like the Erroneous Sins, which the Game System calls Evil Demons.
"Yes, the vile karma born from the errors created when the Game System merged with the real world.
"This seems to be something the Game System needs. Players who suppress these Erroneous Sins are devoured by the Game System. However, the Erroneous Sins are not infinite.
"But Players are. We can reproduce, we can grow. We're practically perfect livestock."
The Saint Master continued his explanation as they quickly reached the hotel entrance.
The three remained on high alert, despite everything Wang Linchi had said.
"Remember, once you get out, prioritize your own safety. Only then should you expose the Game System's conspiracy. You're essentially escaping illicitly, so the Game System will definitely hunt you down," Wang Linchi instructed again.
"If we can get out, I'll believe you and do my best to help, hopefully freeing you from this Instance soon," Black Dart Guest said.
"Forget about me escaping. I'm bound to this Instance now. If I want to leave, I can only rely on myself." Wang Linchi gestured towards the door. "Go on. Once you step through that door, you'll leave the Instance."
"Wait, I have one last question. Were you responsible for what happened to the Night Hotel?" Black Sword Guest asked.
"I was. But by the time I arrived, most of the other Erroneous Sins had already been suppressed and sent to the Game System as fodder," Wang Linchi replied.
"Alright, I understand," Black Sword Guest said. He then stepped directly through the hotel doorway and promptly disappeared.
The remaining two wasted no time and followed him out.
Only after they had left did the Saint Master remove his disguise. Spreading rumors and slander like that? Of course, he couldn't use his true form; a disguise was essential.
Sending the three out wasn't difficult. After all, this was the real world where Wang Linchi possessed his full power. Combined with the partial Instance data he had, while shattering the Instance entirely would be hard, creating a temporary opening for the three to escape was quite feasible.
Otherwise, how could he have been stirring up trouble here so calmly?
"Done. Now, let's see how the Game System reacts." Wang Linchi recalled the Saint Master. So far, everything was proceeding smoothly.
