"With a bit of effort, I can get over 5.6 million; by quietly maneuvering, I can pull together over 22 million. If it's any more, my parents will definitely find out... At most, 20 million. That's all!"
Han Lie's eyes widened. The person standing before him didn't seem human, but rather a mountain of gold. Damn! That was so ridiculously exaggerated...
In his past life, Han Lie had known Pan Ge, but she wasn't the richest alumna in his memory.
In the campus legends Han Lie knew, a sophomore surnamed Liu had spent over 10 million during his four years at university—a well-known legend.
But that over 10 million was spread out, spent in dribs and drabs each month.
Every month, he'd find some excuse to ask his family for more money: a separate sum for buying or changing cars, another for throwing birthday parties... He certainly spent a lot, but his actual disposable wealth was always limited.
That's just how it was in the humanities department; there were no truly top-tier wealthy scions.
The Pan Family wasn't top-tier either. From what Old Pan said, his businesses were mainly in education, study abroad programs, tourism, and hotels. He had stakes in two listed companies, but his shareholdings weren't large.
Still, as a long-time resident of Magic Capital, he was well-connected in various circles and considered a local bigshot with considerable clout.
Han Lie thought he'd already overestimated the Pan Family and Pan Ge, but he still hadn't correctly gauged her actual resources.
Nineteen years old, and she could casually pull out 20 million. What kind of divine woman was this?!
Looking for a boyfriend, is she? Alright, I'm ready for you!
Han Lie felt incredibly giddy, as if he were drunk, yet a part of his mind retained a fundamental wariness towards this Black-hearted White Lotus.
This girl is bad news! She definitely muttered that for me to hear. I absolutely can't show my hand first.
"Fine, from now on, you're my girlfriend."
As soon as Han Lie spoke, Pan Ge was stunned again.
Her eyes widened, her mouth slightly agape, staring at Han Lie as if she were looking at a little monster.
"Wait, are we even talking about the same thing?! Get a grip! Right now, *I'm* the one asking *you* to perform well. What gives you the right to act all high and mighty with me?!"
"TSK!" Han Lie scoffed. "I'm usually the one tricking others into getting something for nothing. You think you can make me your errand boy with just words? You're dreaming!"
Alright, Pan Ge understood now. This damn man was just like her—neither would strike until they saw the prey.
She was a little annoyed. After all that groundwork, she hadn't fully achieved her objective, which was indeed a bit demoralizing.
"So, what do you want?"
Han Lie responded leisurely, "You need to pay a deposit."
Pan Ge didn't want to get entangled with Han Lie any further. In their first true confrontation, she had largely come out on top, and that was enough.
"Fine!" She nodded decisively, deciding to offer him a sweetener. "I'll open an account tomorrow, deposit one million in it, and let you manage it. As for how we settle the profits, I'll go with whatever you say. How's that for showing sincerity?"
"HEH!" Han Lie sneered. "You come at me, running your mouth, and then toss out one million like you're trying to buy a dog? Who do you think you're looking down on?"
"Huh?" Pan Ge frowned deeply. "Then what do you want?"
"It's not about that. The deposit I require, I'll take it myself."
Han Lie smiled playfully, suddenly turned his head, spat the gum in his mouth into the bushes, then took a step forward.
An overwhelming wave of untamed arrogance washed over her with his movement, making Pan Ge's heart tremble. She instinctively wanted to dodge, but it was already too late.
Pan Ge couldn't react in time. What did he mean, 'we can't be a couple'? He's already done *this* to me, driving me half-mad! Who the hell else would I be with if not him?!
She stood there dumbfounded as Han Lie, back mostly to her, waved a hand dismissively and bent over to get into the taxi.
Before the taxi drove off, the damn man raised two fingers and blew her a kiss over his shoulder.
Pan Ge noticed the words he mouthed as he was leaving. His lip movements were slow and exaggeratedly clear, as if afraid she wouldn't understand.
The three syllables were clearly—
"Pu-sho-ver."
"DAMN IT!" Pan Ge's eyes blazed with fury. She lunged forward, only to get a mouthful of exhaust fumes for her trouble.
"ARGH!"
"Han Lie, I swear I'm not done with you!"
"AHHHHHH!"
She stomped her foot violently, then kicked out again and again, stamping so hard her scalp tingled.
So... that bastard... is my destined one?!
