Chapter 312 Fairy

Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue were stunned by the sight before them, standing motionless as if under an immobilization spell, their eyes wide open. The girl before them seemed to have walked out of a fairyland, radiating a gentle light that appeared particularly striking in the dim environment. She wore a light blue long dress, the hem gently swaying with the breeze like a blooming orchid in the dark night. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, with a few strands gently swaying by her cheeks, adding to her ethereal beauty.

The girl seemed to sense their arrival and stopped singing. The melodious song halted abruptly, its soft echo lingering in the silent space. She slowly raised her head, her clear eyes as deep as a serene lake, quietly watching them with a hint of warmth and kindness.

"Who are you? Why have you come here?" the girl asked softly, her voice like a spring in the mountains, clear and melodious, yet tinged with an imperceptible vigilance.

Shen Jingqi hesitated, his hand unconsciously gripping the edge of his clothes, a fine layer of sweat appearing on his forehead. He took a deep breath and said, "We accidentally entered a mysterious cave; it was eerie and filled with a pungent smell. Not long after we went in, we encountered some strange and dangerous occurrences. Sharp claws suddenly extended from the walls, and the ground would occasionally collapse. We ran desperately to avoid those dangers. Later, we met a black-clad figure playing a flute, and the flute's sound seemed magical, controlling the monsters to attack us. The monsters brandished sharp claws, their eyes gleaming with ferocity. We fled all the way to here, not knowing where this is or how to leave."

The girl listened to their words, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes like a ripple on a calm lake. She pondered for a moment, gently tapping the stone beside her as if contemplating something. After a while, she slowly said, "So that's how it is. The cave and the black-clad figure are tied to a great secret. This secret has existed for many years, guarded by some while others seek to unveil it. You have unintentionally become embroiled in this conflict, like two small pebbles caught in a surging whirlpool."

Shen Jingqi asked anxiously, "Do you know what the secret is? And who is that black-clad figure? Why does he want to attack us?" His eyes were filled with yearning, like searching for a glimmer of light in the darkness.

The girl shook her head and said, "I don't know much. However, I can tell you that this secret concerns the fate of many; if uncovered by those with malicious intent, it could bring about a great disaster. The black-clad figure seems to be one of those trying to unveil it. If you wish to leave here, I can help you. But you must promise me not to pursue this secret further, or you will face even greater danger. That danger is like a beast hidden in the darkness, ready to devour you at any moment."

Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue exchanged a glance, their hearts filled with conflict. Lin Yue's eyes revealed a trace of fear, her lips trembling slightly as she softly said, "Aren't we being too reckless? This secret sounds terrifying. We should listen to her and leave."

Shen Jingqi gritted his teeth, a determined light shining in his eyes, and said, "We can't just give up like this. This secret has already affected our lives, and if we don't find out the truth, we might encounter more dangers in the future. We must uncover the truth, even if we face greater dangers. It's like climbing a mountain; though the summit may be perilous, only by reaching it can we see the more beautiful scenery and rid ourselves of inner fears."

The girl looked at their determined eyes and sighed helplessly, a sigh that seemed to carry endless worry. She said, "Since you insist, I won't force you. But I can give you some clues. In the depths of the valley, there is an ancient castle that might hold some clues about the secret. However, the castle is filled with dangers, so you must be careful. It's like a giant labyrinth, hiding countless traps and monsters, where one wrong step could lead to eternal damnation."

After speaking, the girl gently waved her hand, and a light flashed past, like a meteor streaking across the night sky, brilliant yet mysterious. A path appeared before them, leading to the depths of the valley. The path twisted and turned, shrouded in dense fog, like a passage to an unknown world. Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue gratefully glanced at the girl and then walked towards the path. Their steps were heavy, but their eyes were filled with determination.

They proceeded along the path, the surrounding fog growing thicker, reducing visibility. They cautiously groped their way forward, testing each step on the ground, fearing they might accidentally fall into a trap. Shen Jingqi led the way, gripping a wooden stick tightly to explore. Lin Yue followed closely, clutching Shen Jingqi's clothes tightly, her eyes filled with vigilance.

Suddenly, they heard a low roar. The sound seemed to come from the depths of Hell, carrying a spine-chilling power that made them shiver with fear. Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue's hearts tightened, their bodies immediately stiffened, as if frozen by an invisible force. They knew danger was upon them again.

They pressed close together, warily scanning their surroundings. A huge monster emerged slowly from the fog. The monster was mountain-like in size, each step causing the ground to tremble. Its body was covered in black scales that flickered eerily in the faint light, exuding a pungent odor, like a mix of rotting corpses and decaying swamps. Its eyes burned like flames, staring intently at Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue, its mouth constantly roaring with a sound that made their ears ache.

Shen Jingqi and Lin Yue were overwhelmed with fear, their legs trembling involuntarily, their teeth chattering. But they knew, now was not the time to retreat. Shen Jingqi fought his inner fear and said in a low voice, "Lin Yue, don't be afraid, we can defeat it." Though his voice trembled, it carried an underlying firmness.

Lin Yue nodded, a resolute glint flashing in her eyes, and said, "Yes, we'll face it together."

They summoned their courage, preparing to face the battle. Shen Jingqi picked up a stone from the ground, clutching it tightly, his gaze fixed on the monster. However, at that moment, they noticed something behind the monster seemed to be flickering with light. The light was unsteady, as if summoning them, or hiding some secret.

Shen Jingqi was struck by a thought and whispered to Lin Yue, "Look behind the monster, there seems to be something glowing. Maybe it can help us defeat the monster."

Lin Yue followed his direction and indeed saw a faint glimmer. A spark of hope ignited in her heart, and she said, "We should find a way to sneak around it and take a look."
