Killed Me? Now I Have Your Power

Chapter 233: Evolution Quest Start [2]

Kaden's body couldn't help but shake.

The moment the golem moved and let out the way, it was like a veil had been lifted from his eyes, making him able to see the unseen world…even if it was for a brief moment.

Space there was swirling erratically. Black, grey, and red twisted around each other, giving birth to a new type of color never meant to be seen by human eyes.

The nearby blood-leafed trees were uprooted from their place, flying into the sky in all directions. Cracks filled the nearby air like shards of glass clumsily put together by a child playing with cards.

Time seemed to stand still as he observed this mesmerizing sight.

He wondered inwardly how he had not been able to sense such a disturbance before.

He shifted his head slightly toward the golem and saw it giving him a strange smile. A smile that promised something Kaden didn't want to find out.

"W-What is this…?" Kaden said, his voice not coming out the way he wanted.

He wanted it strong and unyielding. But it came out weak and feeble.

He didn't like it.

He clenched his fist tightly to stop his trembling body. He just couldn't understand. How could it be that even after surpassing the stat limit of Will he couldn't stop himself from trembling at the sight of this portal?

What could make him so fearful, even though there was no apparent reason for it?

"It's just the place my friend once dwelled for a day or so. He unconsciously left behind a trace of his power inside this place, transforming it into this…" the golem said while pointing at the erratic spatial portal.

"And what you are feeling right now…what makes your body tremble like a pitiful baby in a frozen land is simply the leftover of his Will embedded into the space."

'Will?' Kaden repeated, shocked.

The Will of another being was making him tremble? Not even the full Will, but only the leftover of it?

Kaden's heart was suddenly filled with indignation as his eyes hardened, becoming lifeless and cold — like a reaper about to take over your soul to the hereafter.

His trembling lessened, but it didn't stop.

Still,

"Oh…not bad. A mere Intermediate? I guess you might have a chance or two to survive one strike," the golem said with a subtle smile.

It was eerie to see a cluster of rocks smiling.

If it had been any other situation, Kaden would have cursed the gods or whoever made him see such a scene.

But this was not the situation for such thoughts.

"You…you said something about someone the gods feared…? What does that mean?" Kaden finally asked the question that had been gnawing at his mind.

He wasn't even certain gods truly existed. Until now, that is. And now, out of the blue, some rocky thing told him gods feared someone?

What kind of bullshit was that?

Why would beings called gods fear someone? Aren't they…gods?

"You want to know, huh?" the golem said.

Kaden nodded.

And suddenly, he found himself being pulled toward the swirling space with unnatural speed.

It took him a second to realize he was about to enter whatever was behind this twisting apocalyptic energy, and he stretched his mouth wide.

"What the fuck??" he cursed.

The golem was just behind where Kaden had been standing. Clearly, it was the culprit behind his situation.

For a cluster of rock, it moved like a bloody panther.

It smirked.

"Go find out for yourself why they feared him…and oh! I hope you've got a Mythic stone. My friend cannot be met without anything less than that. He is a myth after all. And if you don't have one…"

Its smirk widened.

"Then I just destroyed the hope of *****."

Kaden didn't hear anything else as he entered the space, not before screaming out some last words.

"Once I get out, you better run, you damned sack of rocks, or I will make you bleed!!!"

He disappeared.

The golem smiled.

"He doesn't seem to doubt he won't die…" it shook its head.

"What a confident fool."

Blankness. Nothingness. Void.

Whatever words you used, for Kaden it meant the same thing as he looked around.

But there was nothing to look at.

All he saw was darkness with no end in sight. The atmosphere was so thick Kaden was sure he could grasp it with his hand.

He didn't try though.

Because now he was starting to notice things. Lines.

If he looked closely, if he stretched his eyes wide and pushed his perception and Will to the maximum, he could see lines all around him.

They looked like cuts made by a sword. A sharp, pointed sword.

They glowed faintly, with a light that made Kaden tremble. The same feeling as when he saw the shattered space.

The whisper of Will from whoever that strange golem had called friend.

Kaden didn't need to think too much. He already guessed the being behind this.

"The Undefeated Slave," he whispered.

The space trembled at the name. But nothing else happened.

Kaden remembered the last words of the golem.

'A Mythic stone? An evolution stone at Mythic rank?' he thought again.

Why did he need a Mythic stone in this place? No, the question was why did he need an evolution stone to begin with?

Things were starting to get annoying, but more than that, they were becoming strange and confusing.

Still, Kaden didn't want to stay here for too long. It was eerie.

And his body couldn't stop shaking. His Will was shrinking like a lion cub before an adult.

A pitiful display.

He took out one Mythic stone from his space ring. Even the usual radiant and miraculous light of the stone dimmed inside this place.

Kaden's heartbeat started to rise.

With the control of his blood, he splashed it onto the Mythic stone.

It glowed.

The Will chimed.

{You have surpassed all of your limits in each stat. You have obtained a Mythic-rank evolution stone.}

{You are in a special place. A place where once a special being dwelled and left behind his Will. Not by purpose. Not with hidden design. Just because he was what he was.}

{The conditions for the use of a Mythic-rank evolution stone have been completed.}

The Will paused.

Unconsciously, Kaden clenched his fists until his knuckles went white. His heartbeat rose.

{Kaden Warborn, you hold numerous titles. One being the Child of Death. The Heir of Death.}

{Do tell me, Heir of Death — can Death be defeated? Can Death be killed?}

{Is Death inevitable?}

Kaden's eyes opened wide as the Will asked a question. He froze in shock, unable to respond.

But the Will was not expecting an answer.

{You have received your quest, O Heir of Death.}

{Defeat the Undefeated.}

Space twisted.

Time bent.

Reality warped.

The worlds of the seen and unseen blended together, forming for a brief moment…

…a sight not meant for mere mortals.

Kaden saw it.

His mind collapsed like a rock under crushing gravity.

And so…

…Kaden's quest for Master rank officially began.
