Beast Tamer Era: Capturing SSS-ranks with the Strongest Taming System

Chapter 84: Window shopping & Meeting Acquaintances

'Can I buy a Blue Spirit Fruit in the Tower's market?' Ray wondered.

He knew the Tower's market could be accessed from anywhere in the main hub, as he had devoured Torvin's memories, and Torvin was quite familiar with the Tower and its functions.

He thought about accessing it, and a holographic screen popped up before his eyes.

Rows of glowing icons filled the holographic screen, each one representing a different sector of the Tower's market.

Alchemy materials and alchemical products, enchanted items, knowledge of supernatural disciplines, heaven-and-earth treasures, and even materials Ray had never heard of were up for sale, and prices for each item were displayed beneath them in golden digits, measured in Enlightenment Points.

"This is similar to making an online purchase. The main difference is that the delivery will be instant. I will get what I pay for instantly."

He quickly searched for the Blue Spirit Fruit in the Tower's market.

The holographic screen shifted, displaying the fruit along with its description and price.

[Blue Spirit Fruit]

Grade: Rank-8

Effect: Improves Iron Souls by 2 points and Bronze Souls by 1 point. Can enhance the quality of Silver and higher-tier souls.

Price: 50,000 Enlightenment Points.

"So expensive…" Ray's brows furrowed, but it was the only path available for him to advance to the bronze rank.

Once he reached that rank, his taming skill would undergo an upgrade.

At that point, he would be able to tame a bronze rank demonic creature. That alone would bring a massive leap in his power.

But if he went further, if he managed to tame a king-type bronze rank demonic creature, then things would change completely for him.

With such a beast under his command, his strength would climb to the point where he could rival even a silver ranker who lacked king-type beasts.

At that level, wiping out Varun, Nisha and everyone involved in their vile business would not require convulated plots or intricate schemes as he would be able strong enough to simply crush them head-on.

Furthermore, if he succeeded at that, the system quest would be completed. That could potentially lead to discovering the reason behind his transmigration.

"Enough daydeaming," Ray wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth, his eyes turning sharp as he continued, "Time to get to work!"

A few moments later.

His vision warped as he stepped through the portal at the end of the metal walkway.

The very next instant, he appeared inside a dimly lit corridor where a small crowd was already gathered.

Ray surveyed his surroundings.

Torches flickered along the walls at equal intervals. Behind the crowd stretched nothing but a dead end. Overhead, the ceiling hung oppressively low, barely two feet above Ray's heads, and he was only around 6 feet tall. The corridor wasn't wide either, just enough for two, maybe three, people to walk side by side.

The place gave off a claustrophobic feeling, pressing down on crowd gathered there with suffocating weight.

"Nabo, Lucy."

Ray's eyes landed on familiar faces.

"Saviour!"

They spotted him too, their expressions lighting up. Both greeted him with wide smiles plastered across their faces.

"I didn't expect we would meet again in such a place."

Truthfully, Ray hadn't thought he'd see anyone familiar inside the Tower, especially not so soon

"Me neither!" Lucy's voice carried excitement.

To her, Ray was a silver ranker or at least a bronze ranker brushing against that terrifying level. Doing trials on the first floor alongside such an expert was a rare occurrence. Yet such luck had landed in her lap, making her feel happy and excited beyond belief.

'If I can keep him by my side, harm will find it hard to reach me during this trial,' she thought, staring at him unblinkingly.

Why is she looking at me so intensely? Ray backed away from her by a step. Her gaze had weirded him out.

"Saviour, should we stick together to overcome this trial?" Mabo hurried up to him, asking quickly.

He wasn't any dumber than Lucy; how could he not realize the opportunity that seeing Ray here represented?

'Good job, Mabo. You finally did something smart.' Lucy gave the tall, burly Mongolian man a thumbs-up in her heart before turning to Ray with eyes full of anticipation. What will he say?

"Since our paths have crossed, why not?" Ray answered.

He wasn't the type to ignore people worth helping. Besides, inner conflicts would always exist amongst humans, but there was a common enemy in this era. The stronger humanity became, the sooner Earth could be reclaimed from the evil clutches of the demonic beings. Humanity wasn't going to become strong by itself. It was important to nurture tamers to make it grow stronger.

"If it's a trial that doesn't involve infighting amongst seekers, let us work together."

The somewhat arrogant and disdainful voice came from an elven woman who was tall, lean, and exceptionally beautiful.

'Nothing less expected from the member of a race who humans have fantasized about for centuries,' Ray thought as he glanced at her, finding her looks astonishing and aesthetically perfect. Though her personality was not to his liking.

The elven woman's sharp ears poked through strands of hair that fell like silk to her shoulders, her eyes were green and her silver hair gleamed faintly in the torchlight.

She was wearing a light armor that matched her lithe and nimble figure and it was the same colour as her hair.

Her eyes brimmed with arrogance, and she did nothing to hide the disdain in her eyes as she looked at Ray and his companion.

Humans were considered the weakest race in the known universe. They lacked supernatural racial traits, their lifespans were pitiful compared to many humanoids, and their bodies lacked the natural durability or affinity for magic possessed by other races. The elf couldn't help but feel she was doing them a favor by allowing them the chance to walk alongside her group.

The surprising thing was Ray was able to understand her. The same was true for the other seekers around her.
