The Prehistoric System in the world of Fantasy

Chapter 112: Obtaining the Legacy of Li Chengfeng (Part-3)

Inside, the chamber was vast and circular, stretching for dozens of meters across.

It was a spatial field, basically a space element spell that extended the space many times beyond normal, between the boundaries of walls.

At the same time, the entire room was also built from silver-gray alloy, with glowing inscriptions tracing along the walls and ceiling.

Kai stepped aside as he introduced it. "This is one of our guild's most prized training facilities," he explained. "You normally need a ten-day prior appointment to use it. But in this case, we'll make an exception."

He turned toward Lin Fang, his tone still calm but edged with authority.

"Enter."

Lin Fang nodded once and stepped inside. The air immediately pressed down on him, and he felt his knees nearly buckle. The gravity here wasn't that high, but just around 1.5 times, as stated on the LED panels above.

Kai followed him just to the doorway, holding the white orb between his palms. The artifact shimmered faintly, reacting to Lin Fang's proximity. More specifically, to his mark now that Lin Fang has already held it briefly.

Kai, meanwhile, continued. "These walls are built to withstand direct blows from S-rank Hunters. Even if you lose control or the orb releases a burst, this chamber will hold."

He extended the orb toward Lin Fang, who reached out and took it with both hands. As it glowed again, Kai pointed to the corner where a panel was sticking out of the wall. "You can change the gravity there. The higher the pressure you feel, the smoother the legacy will be. But don't go beyond 3. I don't think your body will be able to handle it. And when you finish, we will open the door."

He gave Lin Fang one last, unreadable look and left with a friendly warning. "Good luck, Mr. Lin. And remember—once you start the ritual, it cannot be stopped."

With that, Shen Kai stepped back, the door closing slowly behind him with a thunderous clang.

As the door was closed, Lin Fang sat cross-legged at the center. He didn't bother inspecting the chamber's complex engravings or layered runes. Right now, none of it mattered.

All that mattered was the white orb resting in his hands.

He inhaled deeply.

"Alright," he murmured, "let's begin."

Slowly, he poured mana into the orb, just as he was instructed.

The moment his energy touched the surface, the orb flared to life, flooding the chamber with blinding white light. Symbols resembling zodiac signs, from Aries to Pisces, materialized and then started revolving around him, before one after another went inside him, merging with his body.

When the final symbol merged, the mark on his wrist ignited, and an instant piercing scream escaped his mouth. It was giving him pain and making him feel as if molten metal was being branded into his skin.

A torrent of pure mana essence erupted from the orb—dense, heavy, and violent—and surged straight into his core. It wasn't just mana; it was Li Chengfeng's mana essence, refined over decades and forcefully transmitted into his disciple's body.

*Gaaah!

Lin Fang's breath caught as agony ripped through every nerve. His bones shattered, splintering apart from the inside, only to be reconstructed again, reforged by the violent essence into something tougher—denser, metallic like tempered steel.

His mana core shattered too, splintering into fragments before reforming, brighter and far more condensed. The air around him trembled as the orb pulsed faster, feeding the transformation.

Lin Fang gritted his teeth as his vision flashed white, then black, then white again. The repetition happened a few times.

Through the haze, Alpha's voice then echoed faintly in his mind, although it was more like commenting rather than speaking to him, "Li Chengfeng really possessed a lot of techniques than I expected. It's a pity that his mana reserves were quite low when compared to the talent he had and the knowledge he acquired."

After what felt like hours, the light slowly dimmed. Lin Fang collapsed forward, drenched in sweat, steam rising from his body. His chest heaved heavily as the pain faded into a dull ache.

And then—

A clear, cold chime echoed in his mind.

*Ding!

[Legacy transfer complete. Mana Core reconstruction successful.]

Before he got to sit up and catch a breath, a series of chimes followed immediately after.

*Ding!

As the system converted all the knowledge Li Chengfeng put in the artifact into skills that can be activated with a simple click or the wording, Lin Fang didn't receive any memory transfer. Regardless, the sheer number of skills did overwhelm him a bit. He already had quite a number of skills, but now he received even more. But then again, all of this was practically given to him on a silver platter. Who is he to complain about that? Moreover, he also received the technique that he had come all the way to Peking.

As the last panel faded, Lin Fang opened his eyes, no longer tired, but sharp and clear, reflecting a faint silver-blue glow in his pupils as he stared at the Holographic screen, scrolling down and reading the details.

"So this is how it is, huh," he whispered under his breath in understanding. "I got a bunch of skills, but I guess their output damage should remain the same as before. That means my main priority is still completing the System upgrade quest."

Inside his head, Alpha chuckled softly. "Yes, it didn't change, but you now have an ultimate skill that will let you go against any force in the world."

"Really?" Lin Fang blinked, gazing at the skill list once again. "At my current mana, how powerful would the Divine Palm be?"

"Hmm…" Alpha took a brief pause as if it was thinking. When it was done thinking, it said, "I would say it would flatten down everything in your hundred-meter radius, everything that is weaker than that undead Lord Tier monster you faced in Stellar Rift that almost killed you. If you unlock that restriction too, the skill would even kill the assassin from that night."

"That strong?" Lin Fang was taken aback. He couldn't help but clench his fists. "I guess Master Li must have been really strong back when he was young."

"You can say so." Alpha agreed with him. "Four decades ago, even when he was younger than you, he had already defeated a Class-0 monster. That made your human authorities put him in the ranks of the SS. However, it's really a pity that his mana reserves weren't that high. You, on the other hand, can bring out their potential."

Lin Fang sighed at that. "I don't know. Like I'm supposed to be a Summoner, but I use either fists or daggers to fight, and now, I have a bunch of mage-related skills and all."

His response made Alpha chuckle. "Even before, you have a considerable amount of skills, and yet, you rarely use them. You mostly depend on my buff, Combat Merge, your summons, or the daggers that you got from the system. Don't you remember?"

"Yeah, I know that." Lin Fang furrowed his brows in wonder, "So?"

Alpha then said. "It's because you are the Summoner. Your body automatically doesn't think of unrelated skills to your profession."

"Eh?"
