Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 140: Drop of Blood (2)

The crimson drop shone in the air.

A venomous glow, alive, pulsing as if it had a life of its own.

And then, the pull began. Not gradually, but brutally, the pressure on everyone had increased tenfold.

As if everything inside each cultivator's body had been grabbed all at once.

"AAGH—!"

The first scream echoed before the first second passed.

Veins swelled, eyes turned red, and the skin of some showed signs of tearing.

The pressure was insane. Impossible for most, it was almost a death sentence.

Kyrian remained still.

In the first instant, his red eyes shone subtly, as if they had acted instinctively.

He didn't feel any pain or pressure at all.

The blood inside his body didn't move even a thread.

It seemed trapped, sealed, and obedient. But not obedient to that drop like the others. Only to himself, his eyes did not allow that drop to affect him.

And then Kyrian saw, the only one able to perceive it. With absolute clarity, for he didn't need to worry about his survival.

The suction was not the only thing coming from the blood drop.

There was a second energy coming out of the drop. A concentrated blood energy. Which Kyrian quickly managed to understand.

It carried information.

It was instructions, a method. Like an entire path.

It was a living manual on how to control and resist the blood drop present in the hall.

But when the energy entered the bodies of the others… it disappeared without reaction, as if it hit a wall.

Everyone there understood nothing.

Because to comprehend at least a part of that, one needed the minimum talent for the path of blood.

And apparently, none of them possessed it. Except Kyrian.

Kyrian blinked and began to understand immediately.

'This test… is meant to teach and judge talent and comprehension for the path of Blood Qi.'

And with the way things were going, everyone would die there. Everyone.

Even Mo Xia, Mo Tianhai, and Wu Jian, everyone present besides Kyrian, would certainly die.

It didn't take long, within the first four minutes, the massacre happened.

No mercy, no pause, no chance given.

Bodies were drained like twisted cloths.

The screams began loud but gradually ceased as throats dried.

Of the twenty-nine present, twenty-one died before the four-minute mark.

Only eight remained, and Kyrian was the only one completely calm among them.

In the fifth and final minute…

The drop, which had been calm, suddenly glowed.

And then, the pull multiplied in intensity. Three times. Five times more.

It didn't matter the technique, the strength, the talent, or the physical endurance. Not even using Qi to try to control the blood in their bodies, nothing could stop the suction coming from that tiny blood drop.

It was impossible for those present. They could be considered unlucky. They didn't have the talent required for this test, and so, they would die like the others.

Mo Xia staggered first, blood spilling from her ears.

Wu Jian fell to his knees, his face drained of color.

Tianhai began trembling violently, trying to use his sharp Qi to reinforce his body. Without success.

The other four survivors were agonizing, they were Yan Hui, another disciple of the Scarlet Sun Sect, and two disciples of the Six Poisons Sect.

They were in the same condition as the disciples of the Verdant Sword Sect. Tearing their clothes from pain, clawing at the ground, and almost screaming without sound.

And amidst this chaos…

Kyrian sighed.

A light, calm, almost lazy sound.

He lifted his gaze.

His expression was neutral as always. But in that instant, his eyes lit up.

An intense, deep, domineering glow.

Like an absolute command, seeing the despair of the disciples of his sect about to die, he simply ordered.

"Enough."

And then, his eyes moved.

First, Mo Xia. Then, Wu Jian, and finally, Tianhai.

The Blood Qi, along with his intent, spread from Kyrian's eyes like invisible threads.

Kyrian had understood all the information that the blood drop had released. And he managed, at last, to control part of the pressure coming from the small blood drop.

And the three, who were at the brink of death, suddenly…

Managed to breathe.

The pressure crushing them dropped drastically. It didn't disappear, but it fell enough to not kill them anymore.

They could feel it.

Kyrian… had done something.

Mo Xia gasped, holding her chest.

Wu Jian looked at his hands, confused.

Tianhai narrowed his eyes, immediately realizing that Kyrian seemed to have intervened. And once again, helped him.

Kyrian took all this time to comprehend the method given to him by the blood drop.

And finally he could help the others. He softened the pressure of the drop only for the disciples of the Verdant Sword Sect.

Because, for Kyrian, even not being close to any of them, there was no reason to let them die.

Saving them now was easy.

Ridiculously easy.

As for the remaining four… the pain they were experiencing was worse than death.

And, in the final minute, three of them finally succumbed, their bodies shriveling like empty husks as the blood was ripped out.

Kyrian could have saved them. But everyone who entered the inheritance had in mind that they could die inside. And perhaps Kyrian was a bit petty, after all, he clearly remembered those three laughing when Yan Hui commented that he had lasted only a second in the previous test.

So, only one survivor remained, besides those of the sect Kyrian belonged to.

Yan Hui.

He was on the ground, trembling, his skin almost gray.

His bulging eyes were full of veins.

He would not survive.

Not for ten more seconds.

Kyrian had no intention of saving him. He saw the hostility in Yan Hui's eyes after he had merely called him stupid.

Kyrian also didn't have a good impression of him after learning he was the one who tormented Di Fei's life in the Scarlet Sun Sect.

And that was when Yan Hui looked at Kyrian. And he saw that not only Kyrian but also Mo Xia, Wu Jian, and Tianhai were completely stable.

While he was being flayed alive from the inside.

An absurd fury flashed in his eyes.

"Y-You…!"

"You…!"

He didn't finish the sentence. Staggering, with a trembling hand, Yan Hui suddenly pulled something from his spatial ring.

It looked like a simple pendant.

He immediately enveloped the pendant with his Qi.

The pendant trembled, activating instantly.

And before anyone could think about what it was, Yan Hui gave one last hateful glare at Kyrian and snarled.

"DID YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD DIE HERE?!"

And then, his body simply disappeared.

He didn't turn into blood, he didn't dissolve. He just vanished instantly.

Mo Xia widened her eyes, speaking with some difficulty.

"That… was a teleportation treasure? They shouldn't work inside the inheritance, should they?"

Wu Jian fell silent, while Mo Tianhai frowned deeply, thinking about how Yan Hui possessed something so rare.

And Kyrian, in truth, simply watched silently, without showing much reaction.

'And why would I care whether you live or die?' Kyrian had the thought briefly for a second. It seemed Yan Hui was truly stupid.

The pendant had a function that not even the tower could stop. A treasure of escape.

And then the last second of the test finally ended…

The blood drop stopped pulling, and the air calmed.

But suddenly, the drop glowed and, with an extremely fast burst, shot toward Kyrian's forehead.

At the same instant, Kyrian vanished from the hall.
