MIGHT AS WELL BE OP

Chapter 916: Forest

In a titanic explosion of erasing proportions, fist met blade. The air between them expanded like a balloon filled to its absolute limit, swelling outward for a fraction of a second before detonating in madness and ruin. The desert itself seemed to recoil as sand exploded backward in terrifying insanity, dunes collapsing and grains screaming as they were flung violently away from the epicenter.

Aura Nova's eyes narrowed for a brief moment, sharp and calculating, before a smile curved her lips the very next second. She had merely been surprised, nothing more, that Kingsley had actually dared to meet her blade with nothing but his bare fist. That moment of surprise vanished instantly. Without wasting even a fraction of a heartbeat, the two of them disappeared in a flickering blur, their speed escalating and peaking with every passing instant as the battlefield struggled to keep up.

For every attack Aura Nova unleashed, Kingsley met it head-on, a shocking display of fearlessness as though he held no fear whatsoever toward her blade. Aura Nova's short sword tore downward in a ruthless cleave, her weapon screaming as it raced toward Kingsley's shoulder. Yet Kingsley did not dodge. His hand rose calmly, meeting the blade with the back of his palm, parrying it with extreme ease as though he were swatting away something trivial.

His other hand rocketed forward immediately after, a fist singing through the air toward Aura Nova's gut, aimed with lethal intent to crush her organs outright. But Aura Nova was anything but slow. Her free hand moved in perfect coordination, the edge of her second short sword slamming into Kingsley's fist head-on, steel and flesh colliding with a violent shockwave.

The ground beneath their feet quaked as the wind detonated outward, screaming in all directions. In another blip of distorted motion, they vanished entirely, their speed tearing the sands backward in ridiculous proportions. The next instant, they reappeared at the edge of a forest, both now standing atop a mountain. But despite the change of battlefield, the intensity behind every attack did not lessen in the slightest, it only grew more ferocious.

Kingsley's foot tore upward from below, his target clear, her chin. But Aura Nova had already seen the attack coming. She snapped her head to the side, narrowly dodging as his kick sliced through the space where her face had been. Her blades screamed forward in retaliation as she aimed to amputate the leg in a single decisive motion. Before she could even complete the strike, Kingsley's legs twisted sideways with explosive speed, rocketing toward her head as he aimed to shatter it like a watermelon.

Aura Nova immediately abandoned her attack. Her back arched backward with ridiculous ease and speed, dodging purely on instinct and reflex. She felt and heard the wind detonate violently where her head had been only an instant earlier. But Kingsley was far from finished. He was riding a ruthless combo, and even though Aura Nova had evaded his previous attacks, it did nothing to slow his momentum.

His leg paused mid-motion, muscles coiling. It shifted as his toe pointed toward the sky, and then, with the force of a blazing sun collapsing inward, his footheel tore downward toward her forehead. Aura Nova's senses peaked as she saw the attack race toward her. She did not speak. She did not hesitate. She moved with the fluid grace of a cat, her body shifting sideways as though she had no bones at all, only pliable cartilage bending effortlessly to her will.

Kingsley's foot crashed into the mountain beneath them. The entire peak shook with maddening intensity as the force collapsed into the earth below, shockwaves rippling outward like an earthquake for several seconds. Cracks spread violently across the stone, yet the mountain stubbornly held together.

Aura Nova moved the instant the impact landed. Her blade carved through the air, screaming toward Kingsley's neck with lethal precision. Kingsley did not dare hesitate. He ducked immediately, the blade slicing through the empty path where his head had been. But even as he lowered himself, all he saw was a knee tearing toward his face, Aura Nova had already predicted this exact moment.

Yet even while squatting, Kingsley proved himself a martial artist in every sense of the word. His body and legs flowed smoothly across the mountain's surface as he sidestepped, his movements fluid and precise. His torso twisted with practiced grace, and in the next instant, he arrived at Aura Nova's flank. His fist shot upward from below, carrying devastating force as though he intended to blow her ribcage apart from the side.

Aura Nova did not stand and watch the attack close in. She mirrored Kingsley's movement instantly, matching his steps and rhythm with flawless precision. While standing, her body followed the same pattern of grace and control. The moment she came to a stop, her left foot left the mountain's surface, tearing through the air toward Kingsley's temples with explosive speed.

Even while squatting, Kingsley moved with immaculate ease, his battle experience manifesting in real time. He bent backward sharply, Aura Nova's foot carving through nothing but empty space. She did not miss a beat. She did not hesitate in any shape or form. Her twin daggers followed immediately, shooting downward in a powerful, decisive thrust meant to end the exchange.

Kingsley refused to remain where he was. His body rolled to the side, dodging cleanly. He did not care about dignity or formality, this was a battle, not a display of noble etiquette. Aura Nova's twin short swords slammed into the mountain, blasting a massive hole through the surface as stone exploded outward.

The next moment, the mountain itself shuddered violently, then exploded backward with apocalyptic force and pressure. The detonation sent both of them flying forward through the air. Before they could even be carried far, they recalibrated instantly, pushing off mid-flight. Their bodies tore through the collapsing mountain rubble, stones, debris, and massive boulders raining down around them as they fell.

Using the falling debris as footholds, they danced through the air, striking and countering without pause. Their exchange of attacks remained unbroken, relentless, and merciless as neither showed any intention of stopping until the other could no longer fight. With a thunderous boom, their feet kissed the earth below. A ravine tore open the instant they landed, the impact unleashing a blast of wind with the force of a cannon. Trees were slammed backward, ripped from the ground as roots snapped and soil erupted.

Yet Kingsley and Aura Nova could not have cared less about such destruction. The two existed entirely within their own world. They saw only each other, acknowledging no one and nothing else. The forest was drowned beneath phantom streaks of gold and blue, colliding endlessly with overwhelming force and devastation as their battle raged on without restraint.
