The Supreme Martial Expert of the Female CEO

Chapter 819 Fell into a Trap

Makar let out a sinister chuckle, then his face turned cold. He kicked Maham to the ground and sneered, "General Maham, you're my prisoner now, so you'd better act the part. Do you really think you're still that high-and-mighty general? Hahaha!"

Maham gritted his teeth. "Makar, I didn't expect you to be an inside agent for the Freedom Organization. I will never let you off!"

"Never let me off?" Makar burst into laughter. "A stray dog still dares to talk big—this is the biggest joke of all! I'll tell you the truth, Maham: no matter what the outcome today is, you're dead! Your only value now is to buy us a little more time."

Fury flashed in Maham's eyes as he coldly sneered in his heart: "Makar, you won't be smug for long. Your life is already mine to take!"

Just as Makar was eagerly awaiting the Snake Lord and the others to emerge, a horrifying report came through—the warriors stationed at the entrance had all been silently killed! And their corpses had transformed into sculptures of yellow sand.

"How is that possible? Why haven't we gotten any alerts?" Makar rushed over and found that the ten warriors had already become ten piles of sand. A chill ran down his spine.

Fear flickered in the eyes of those around him. The situation was bone-chilling!

"Could it be some mysterious power from the Pyramid?" A voice from the crowd broke the silence. "Rumor has it that the Khufu Pyramid contains strange and mystical power—could such power really turn people into sand? This... it's simply inconceivable!"

The crowd erupted into unrest, and every face bore a wary expression.

Tales and legends about the Pyramid had abounded for ages. There were even accounts of masters from the Demi-God Domain emerging only to descend into madness. Though skeptical, everyone felt unease creeping into their hearts. Could the stories be true after all? Was there truly a force capable of turning people into sand within the Pyramid?

"Everyone, stay calm!" Makar shouted. "I am the garrison officer of the Khufu Pyramid, and I have never heard of anything like this before. So this certainly isn't due to the Pyramid!"

After a pause, Makar spoke in a firm voice: "There must be some master infiltrating us. That's it—it's the only explanation!"

Makar knew that under current circumstances, panic must be contained at all costs. Even if the bizarre occurrences were indeed caused by the Pyramid's mysterious power, the blame had to be pinned on enemies. Only then could morale be stabilized.

"Ahhh!" At that moment, a panicked cry rang out: "My... my legs, my legs!"

Everyone turned toward the sound, and what they saw made them gasp in horror.

The cry came from a mercenary whose legs had been wrapped in yellow sand. It was as though a mysterious force surrounded him, with the sand seemingly alive, slowly climbing from his legs to his torso!

"This..." The crowd was stunned. What was happening?

Despair covered the mercenary's face as he held his gun and sprayed bullets onto the ground—but to no avail!

Before everyone's eyes, the sand quickly engulfed the mercenary.

A few breaths later, he collapsed to the ground with a thud, transforming into a pile of sand!

A chill swept over everyone's hearts. As mercenaries, they had grown numb to death and could face any enemy boldly. But this felt different—they couldn't even see their enemy! The unknown was far more terrifying, especially within the confines of the Pyramid.

The Pyramid held countless legends in the Underworld, and given the current events, everyone firmly believed there must be a mysterious power within it!

"General Makar, what do we do now?" one mercenary leader asked. "This Pyramid is far too dangerous. If we stay any longer, I fear we won't be able to endure it!"

Makar frowned deeply. Having witnessed everything firsthand, even his heart began to race with unease. "What should we do now?"

"Charge out!" the mercenary leader said gravely. "With Maham in our hands, victory isn't impossible. Besides, I believe the Third Government Army won't dare use heavy weapons against us. So there's still a sliver of hope if we break through. But if we stay here..."

The mercenary leader didn't finish his sentence, but Makar had already grasped his meaning.

They would rather fight and die in open combat than succumb to such inexplicable forces!

Makar hesitated, and in that brief moment, several chilling screams echoed from the outskirts—three more mercenaries had turned into sand.

Panic was now unavoidable and began to spread uncontrollably.

"Let's charge out! I'd rather die outside than stay here any longer!" This was every mercenary's heartfelt sentiment.

Makar felt helpless. This was the crucial difference between scattered mercenaries and disciplined regulars. If he continued to press down on them, the mercenaries would undoubtedly refuse to stay put. Discipline wasn't a concept they embraced!

"Prepare yourselves; we're charging out!" Makar could only concede.

The crowd heaved a sigh of relief, and the fear in their eyes diminished slightly.

But when they charged out, they were shocked to find the scene outside was completely different from when they had entered!

Yellow sand stretched endlessly; the desert seemed infinite. The other Pyramids had vanished without a trace!

"This is bad! Retreat!" shouted a seasoned mercenary.

But when they turned back, they realized the Khufu Pyramid had also disappeared. Besides the vast expanse of sand, there was nothing—not even a shadow of the Third Government Army!

"What is going on here?" The crowd descended into chaos and confusion.

"Illusion Technique—we're caught in an illusion trap." One mercenary with relatively high cultivation shook his head and laughed bitterly, saying, "We've fallen into their trap!"

Seeing the confused looks around him, the mercenary explained, "They must have set up an illusion at the Pyramid's exit. The moment we stepped out, we were ensnared. Which means everything happening in the Pyramid was their design, specifically aimed at making us step out of it. Unfortunately, we've been played!"

Illusion Techniques were rare throughout the Underworld. Apart from a few highly seasoned mercenaries, most people didn't understand the true power of such techniques!

"What do we do now? How can we break the illusion?" Makar was completely stunned. He was merely a mid-level officer and had never even heard of Illusion Techniques before!
