"Abyssal Witch?" Ling Feng's heart tensed. Over the past six months, he had heard far too many rumors about the Abyss—starting from the Abyssal Demon sealed atop Mount Everest to Hell's Gate, and now, standing before him, this Abyssal Witch!
Ling Feng's heart was filled with wariness. Although he was slowly coming to terms with the existence of the Abyssal Plane, he still couldn't fathom why beings from the Abyss were showing up here.
"I am not some so-called Successor!" Ling Feng said coldly. "You've got the wrong person!"
The Abyssal Witch licked her lips, her eyes flashing with a seductive and malicious smile. To be frank, her current appearance was drenched in raw sensuality and untamed allure, an almost irresistible charm.
"I don't make mistakes," the Abyssal Witch replied with a smirk. "Even though the Power of the Abyss within you has yet to awaken, I can smell the scent of our Abyssal Clan from your very being. You are the Successor I've been seeking!"
Ling Feng frowned, a shadow of Klau suddenly rising in his mind. The Abyssal Witch's talk of the Power of the Abyss… could it be…
His heart tightened with an ominous premonition.
The Abyssal Witch extended her hand, slender and elegant, and moved her finger toward Ling Feng's forehead.
The motion appeared slow, yet it contained an undeniable rhythm of power. Ling Feng tried to step away immediately but found himself unsure how to evade.
"Don't fight it, my dear Successor!" The Abyssal Witch giggled as her fingertip pressed lightly onto Ling Feng's forehead.
Her finger was slightly cool to the touch, with an unnervingly silken texture that sent an involuntary tremor through Ling Feng's heart.
"Since the Power of the Abyss within you hasn't awakened yet, allow me to give you a little push!" The Abyssal Witch's voice rang out.
Suddenly, Ling Feng felt a loud buzzing in his head, and a surge of tremendous power erupted from inside him.
"AAAAH!" Ling Feng clenched his fists tightly, veins bulging across his body, his skin turning blood-red from the rupturing of surface capillaries.
"Ling Feng!" Bai Feifei roared in fury as she witnessed the scene. "What have you done to Ling Feng? I'll kill you!"
With just a casual glance, the Abyssal Witch triggered a mental explosion in the brains of Bai Feifei and the others, causing all five to faint instantly.
"Feifei!" Ling Feng's eyes widened in rage at the sight.
"Relax, your woman is only unconscious," the Abyssal Witch said calmly. "Certain matters concerning the Abyssal Clan must remain hidden from outsiders!"
Ling Feng roared furiously, "I told you, I am not your so-called Successor! Get away from me!"
With that, Ling Feng swung a powerful punch at the Abyssal Witch, only to be shocked—his full-force blow, a strike heavy as Mount Everest, caused her no apparent harm!
How was this possible?!
"Oh? Your strength isn't bad," the Abyssal Witch remarked. "But considering your fleshly power hasn't yet absorbed the awakened Power of the Abyss, how could you possibly be a match for me? Let me remind you—across the vast Great Thousand World, the physical strength of the Abyssal Clan is among the absolute best."
"Damn you!" Ling Feng snarled, his body trembling as energy continued to pour forth endlessly from within him, to the point where every cell seemed to be releasing raw force. If he didn't unleash it, he feared he might explode.
The Abyssal Witch quickly noticed this. Nodding slightly, she remarked, "It seems your bloodline is awakening nicely. However, with such an accumulation of energy, your current body can't handle it. In that case…"
Before finishing her sentence, the Witch struck Ling Feng's abdomen with a sudden punch, sending him flying.
With a thunderous crash, Ling Feng landed hard on the ground. Although the impact was immense, he suffered only superficial injuries.
"Come, Successor!" The Witch said as she casually rubbed her hands. "Release all the power you have onto me. I'll seize this opportunity to train you thoroughly!"
Ling Feng licked his lips, his eyes glowing red as his breath heaved like a raging storm.
"You said it yourself!" Ling Feng launched forward with forceful legs, his body like an unstoppable speeding train, closing in on the Witch.
"Imposing momentum, but… you're still far too inexperienced!" The Abyssal Witch teased with a mischievous grin.
Soon, the two figures clashed in combat, their movements intertwined. Ling Feng, overwhelmed by the frenetic surge of power within his frame, unleashed every move with complete abandon.
Strength like mountains, a presence that swallowed the skies—Ling Feng felt as though he could truly lift a mountain barehanded.
Yet, facing the Abyssal Witch, Ling Feng realized in bitter despair that he remained at a disadvantage throughout.
After hundreds of exchanged blows, Ling Feng's body was battered relentlessly by the Witch, while hers showed no sign of ever being touched by battle.
When the Witch swung her leg and smashed Ling Feng heavily to the ground, he finally felt the exhaustion draining the unfathomable strength he'd wielded. What replaced it was deep, bitter fatigue.
"Seems you've reached your limit!" The Abyssal Witch chuckled as she gazed at Ling Feng, sprawled out and gasping for air. "Impressive, impressive. For someone of your age to spar with me for such a duration—even among the pure Abyssal Clan, this level of prowess is extraordinary!"
Ling Feng glared at the Abyssal Witch. "I've told you, I am NOT your Abyssal Clan's Successor. I am an Earthling. I am human. My parents are human!"
"Perhaps they were before, but now…" The Witch waved her hand, conjuring a massive mirror before Ling Feng. "Take a good look at yourself now. Are you truly still human?"
When Ling Feng saw his reflection, his eyes widened in disbelief. "Impossible… this can't be true!"
He reached up instinctively, his fingers brushing against the slight protrusion on his forehead.
"The Demon's Horn!" The Abyssal Witch explained. "The Power of the Abyss within you had been suppressed until now. With my intervention, it has been awakened—along with your Demon's Horn!"
Ling Feng stared blankly at his mirrored reflection, then at his own hands, which were now covered in dense black patterns.
"These black markings emerge upon the unlocking of the Gene Lock. Could it be…" Ling Feng's heart already harbored an answer.
He understood. The true culprit behind all this was undoubtedly the Mad Doctor! It was the Mad Doctor who had injected the Power of the Abyss into the Gene Lock, ensuring its awakening inevitably exposed the Power of the Abyss.
"Why?" Ling Feng's eyes clouded, despair prickling his thoughts. Had he become something like Klau? No longer human—caught between man and monster?
"No!" Ling Feng suddenly howled in anguish, clawing desperately at the Demon's Horn protruding from his forehead. "I am not a monster. I am human! I will NOT become a monster!"
