The Supreme Martial Expert of the Female CEO

Chapter 871: Farewell to Talabova

Two hours later, the plane landed on a small island. This island was under the domain of the Eye of God. Although the island was small, it had everything one could need. At the center was a bustling commercial district, while the surrounding areas were lush with greenery and vegetation. From a distance, it truly looked like a paradise hidden from the world.

The airport on the island was already crowded with planes, and those who disembarked were representatives of major underground forces.

As they stepped off the plane, the island staff immediately approached them. "Are you the representatives of the Divine Gate?" one of them asked.

Catherine nodded. "That's right, we represent the Divine Gate. Here are our invitations!"

As she spoke, Catherine pulled out two invitations from her coat and handed them over to the staff member. After glancing at them, the staff member scanned the barcodes on the invitations with a device and, after confirming their identities, directed other personnel to escort Ling Feng and Catherine through the airport passageway.

"The auction is scheduled to begin at 6 pm. Until then, feel free to enjoy the scenery of Heaven Island and sample our local delicacies. We hope you have an enjoyable stay!" the staff member said politely.

"Heaven Island? Since when has it been called Heaven Island?" Catherine asked curiously. Hadn't this place always been referred to as the Nameless Island?

The staff member smiled. "It's a recent change on our part. Please don't mind the details. We hope you leave here with more than you came for!"

Ling Feng and Catherine left the airport and strolled into the commercial district of Heaven Island. The diverse array of goods available was truly impressive, on par with the prosperity of a bustling market town in the outside world.

"Let's head to the auction venue first!" Catherine suggested. "I scheduled a meeting with the auction director earlier. We must deliver our auction items to be appraised three hours prior to the event!"

"Let's go then!" Ling Feng glanced at his watch. "We still have over half an hour; it won't be an issue."

On their way to the auction, Ling Feng spotted several familiar faces from the Underworld. Some of them had less-than-harmonious relationships with the Divine Gate. However, given the strict rules of the Eye of God, no one made a move—exchanging only hostile glares instead.

The auction venue was located in the center of the town. It was a sprawling, five-story Gothic-style building covering several hectares.

"We're here to meet Director Brian. We represent the Divine Gate!" Catherine told the receptionist at the front desk.

"Please hold on a moment!" The receptionist made a phone call to Director Brian and then said, "Honored guests, please follow me. Director Brian is already waiting for you!"

They were led to Brian's office on the second floor. When Brian looked up and saw Catherine and Ling Feng, he stood up involuntarily. "Welcome to both of you!"

Once the receptionist left, Brian smiled and said warmly, "I truly did not expect Lord Asura himself to grace this auction. It is such an honor for us!"

Ling Feng offered a faint smile but remained silent. Being one of the Eight War Gods of the Underworld, Ling Feng was well aware that the other seven wielded immense power and rarely attended auctions personally.

"You're too kind, Mr. Brian," Catherine interjected. "We're here to arrange for some items to be auctioned. Can we begin the process now?"

Brian smiled slightly but then shook his head. "I'm sorry, but there's been an issue with your last-minute request to join the auction…"

Catherine frowned. "What's the issue? I recall your response three days ago was much different from this!"

A wry smile appeared on Brian's face. "Yes, I did agree to your request three days ago, but now… this matter is no longer under my jurisdiction."

"No longer under your jurisdiction?" Catherine's expression darkened. Failing to join this auction could put the Divine Gate in a precarious position. Without financial backing, even maintaining a foothold in Fusang would become extremely difficult.

Just then, a familiar and mischievous voice interrupted them. "Indeed, this matter is no longer under Brian's authority—because it's now under mine!"

As the words fell, the office door swung open, and a familiar figure stepped inside.

"Talabova?" Catherine's expression soured as she instantly understood why Brian had been overruled.

In the Eye of God Organization, Talabova was one of the few Senior Deacons. Her status and rank far surpassed those of Brian. With Talabova stepping in, Brian naturally had to concede.

Catherine also realized why Talabova had chosen to interfere. This little temptress had always tried to flirt with Ling Feng but had never succeeded. Now that she had found an opening, she wasn't about to let it slip away.

"Brian, you may leave now," Talabova said coolly.

Brian glanced at Talabova before turning to Catherine, whose expression was growing increasingly grim. It didn't take a genius to figure out that this situation was far from simple. Following the principle of avoiding trouble when possible, he quietly exited the room.

"Talabova, what are you trying to do?" Catherine asked sternly as she turned to face her.

Talabova rolled her eyes at Catherine. "Obviously, I've come to personally review your qualifications. Our Eye of God Organization's auction cannot allow cheap items to slip through the cracks—it would be such a disgrace to our standards, don't you agree?"

With that, Talabova poured a cup of coffee herself and handed it to Ling Feng. "Here, have a seat and let's talk. Drink some coffee!"

Catherine's mouth twitched. This little vixen clearly had ulterior motives!

Sensing that words would be wasted, Catherine went silent, instead fixing Ling Feng with a cold stare.

Ling Feng felt a headache coming on. Catherine and Talabova embodied the principle of women repelling each other like polar opposites!

For reasons unknown to him, the two would immediately trade barbs whenever they met. If they didn't come to blows, it was already a blessing!

"Ahem!" Ling Feng coughed lightly. Under Catherine's piercing gaze, he had no intention of indulging Talabova's antics—besides, he truly felt nothing for her.

"Talabova, let's stick to business," Ling Feng said, taking the coffee. "I'm confident that the items we've prepared will not disappoint you."

Talabova looked at Ling Feng with soft eyes and then laughed softly. "Ling Feng, must you be so formal? I just wanted to use this opportunity to see you. Besides, when have you ever disappointed me?"

Seeing Talabova's meaningful gaze, Ling Feng suddenly felt a chill running through his body, as though he were being targeted by a seasoned hunter.
