Chapter 910 Jenny's Past

Ling Feng followed behind Jenny as the two walked along a quiet path. Jenny remained silent the entire way, and Ling Feng didn't ask anything about Mike.

After they had walked for some time, Jenny stopped, looked at Ling Feng with a hint of annoyance, and said, "Hey, can't you tell I'm really upset right now?"

Ling Feng nodded. "Of course I can!"

"Then why aren't you comforting me? Isn't that what a gentleman should do?" Jenny pouted.

Ling Feng shrugged. "Sorry, I'm not a gentleman. Besides, I don't think something this small could shake your resolve. Otherwise, you'd never have been groomed as the first heir!"

Jenny rolled her eyes at Ling Feng and huffed, "Hmph, like you know everything, huh? By the way, I should thank you. For pulling Mike away earlier—it at least let me save a bit of face in front of everyone!"

Ling Feng smiled faintly. "Well, you're my friend, right? I'm the kind of person who always stands by my friends, not by reason!"

Jenny let out a soft laugh, and her expression lightened. "Actually, when I saw Mike earlier, I immediately understood George's scheme. I wasn't really angry, just a little melancholy. After all, a relative who has lived by my side for over twenty years can't even compare to a friend I've known for less than twenty days!"

"That's because there's no conflict of interest between us," Ling Feng said quietly. "Human nature is like that—don't take it too hard."

"No, it's different!" Jenny turned and stared at Ling Feng. "I, Jenny, might not be good at much, but I'm good at reading people. Ling Feng, you are absolutely not the kind of person who would forsake loyalty for personal gain!"

Ling Feng replied dismissively, "Good at reading people? If you were so good at reading people, how did you end up with such a scumbag?"

"Ling Feng!" Jenny snapped in anger, reaching out to give him a sharp pinch on his side. "Can you not rub salt in my wounds? Just pretend I was blind this once, okay?"

Ling Feng pretended to be in pain and replied, "Salt in your wounds? I thought your wounds had already healed into scars, but apparently, you're still pretty sentimental!"

"Sentimental? I wish he was dead!" Jenny gritted her teeth and said coldly, then raised her head to look at Ling Feng. "Ling Feng, do you think I'm too cruel?"

Ling Feng shook his head. "I don't know what kind of hurt you endured back then, so I wouldn't make any judgment. Besides, if you truly wish him dead, then he must have done something to leave you utterly hopeless at the time!"

Jenny let out a breath. When she saw Mike earlier, she had already braced herself for the ridicule of the crowd's gaze. But unexpectedly, Ling Feng had stepped in, removing Mike before things could spiral out of control.

Back then, Jenny's heart trembled involuntarily as she felt, once again, a sense of being protected.

So, when she blurted out her deep-seated hatred for Mike, she worried that Ling Feng might consider her a venomous woman. Thankfully, Ling Feng didn't see her that way.

"Ling Feng, do you want to know what really happened back then?" Jenny sighed softly and asked.

Before Ling Feng could respond, she started speaking on her own. "Back then, I went to Stanford for further studies. None of my classmates knew my true identity, which made me feel incredibly liberated. That kind of free and easy feeling... I still cherish it to this day!"

Ling Feng stood quietly by Jenny's side. He knew that while Jenny might say she didn't care, being schemed against by her family must have left a deep scar. What she needed now was someone to listen, and all Ling Feng could do was quietly hear her out.

"During my time at Stanford, I met a close friend who shared my interests, and also someone I thought I could spend my life with!" Jenny sighed lightly. "That person was Mike. We were in the same interest group, and he was witty, humorous, and considerate. Under his pursuit, I quickly fell in love."

"Those days with him, I truly experienced the beauty of love. For a while, I believed he was the one I was searching for. I even dreamed of graduating and bringing him back to the Johnson Family, where my family would accept him!"

A hint of sorrow appeared on Jenny's face. "But I'd never have imagined that during the year he graduated, in order to secure a chance to stay at the university, he actually wanted me to keep the dean company. When I firmly refused, he drugged my food, attempting to send me to that pig's bed!"

Ling Feng looked at Jenny in shock. He hadn't expected Mike, so polished on the surface, to be such a degenerate. Truly, outwardly gilded, inwardly rotten.

"I realized something was wrong at the time, but I was already weak and powerless. When I confronted him, he had the audacity to accuse me, saying I never slept with him because I didn't love him and was only using him—so that was why he did it!" Jenny laughed coldly. "But what he would never understand is that I maintained my last line of defense because I didn't want my family to take action against him. But looking back now, I'm actually glad I did!"

"At my most helpless moment, it was Yun Hanrui who noticed and saved me!" Jenny sighed lightly. "After the drug wore off, I wanted revenge on Mike, but he had already disappeared without a trace. I even used my family's resources to try to find him, but it was fruitless. Yet today…"

It was clear that George had brought Mike forward and admitted he was his man—enough to prove that George had orchestrated the events back then. For Jenny, this was a devastating blow.

"What will you do now?" Ling Feng asked. "Will you really go to war with George?"

Jenny replied coldly, "What George has done has crossed my bottom line. Even if his father intervenes, I must teach him a lesson he'll never forget!"

At that moment, a melodic sound came from Fengyun Platform.

"Fengyun Platform is open!" Jenny took a deep breath and looked at Ling Feng with concern. "Are you sure you want to go? Right now, with the Johnson Family and Thomas Family as your allies, the Nilas Family has no chance against you!"

Ling Feng smiled. "I've been waiting for this day. Don't worry—there's no one here who can truly defeat me!"

With that, Ling Feng turned and walked toward Fengyun Platform. Jenny let out a sigh, silently making up her mind. If anything were to happen to Ling Feng, she would ensure her father sent people to rescue him.

Fengyun Platform marked the final phase of this conference, and was also the most anticipated part. After all, with two days of publicity from the Nilas Family, everyone knew Ling Feng would be engaged in a life-or-death battle against the Nilas Family's representatives.
