Divine Emperor In Another World

Chapter 14: Episode 14: Threads of Conspiracy

Episode 14: Threads of Conspiracy

The catacombs fell silent once more.

Kuro Jin stood alone in the chamber, Second Flame pulsing faintly in his palm—warm and ancient, like the heartbeat of a forgotten god.

He let it fade into his Inventory Core, and the system immediately flared.

[System Integration: Initiating Skill Expansion]

Second Tier Flame Branch Unlocked

New Skill Acquired: Ember Requiem – AOE Burn with Recovery Inversion

Passive Boost: Regeneration x1.6 | Flame Affinity Enhanced

He let out a slow breath.

"I need to get out of here... before the persona shift ends."

[Persona Shift – Remaining Time: 2:04]

Kuro Jin sprinted through the winding tunnels, boots echoing against stone. As he reached the final turn toward the hidden stairway—

BOOM!

A blast rocked the lower chamber. Dust rained from the ceiling.

"What now…?"

From the corridor behind him, several cloaked figures rushed into view—Arcane Inquisitors, clad in obsidian robes with glowing red sigils. Elite enforcers of the Sanctum Council, Elaria's magical governing order.

The lead inquisitor narrowed his eyes.

"That relic was supposed to remain sealed."

Kuro Jin froze.

[Persona Shift Expired]

A ripple of light passed over him—his disguise fell.

The inquisitors halted, stunned. "You're not one of ours…"

"Smart observation."

Without waiting, Kuro Jin lunged, activating Phantom Dash and Shadow Cloak – Veil Step, weaving through their ranks like a phantom.

But they were faster than expected.

[Magic Lockdown – Zone Seal Initiated]

Aether Chains manifested – speed halved, dash disabled.

Chains of pure aether coiled around his limbs. One inquisitor lifted a staff.

"By order of the Sanctum Council, you are to be detained for relic interference—"

Kuro Jin's eyes flared with rage.

"I don't take orders from corrupted hypocrites."

[Skill Triggered – Ember Requiem]

A crimson wave of flame erupted around him—burning magic itself.

The chains melted.

The inquisitors screamed, shields flaring to protect them, but it was too late. Kuro Jin surged forward, dagger flashing with flame and shadow.

In three precise strikes, the staff shattered, the spell broke—and the corridor exploded in chaos.

[HP: -31% | Enemy Status: Scattered – Retreating]

Kuro Jin didn't chase. He turned and bolted up the stairs—emerging into the moonlit alleyways of Elaria, heart pounding.

Meanwhile – Deep Forest Clearing

Akira awoke with a gasp—chest wrapped in crude bandages, body still aching.

He looked around—no one in sight, just the soft crackle of a dying campfire.

But the wound on his side... it didn't hurt anymore.

He placed a trembling hand over it.

"…He saved me."

Then he noticed a small emblem carved into the tree near him—a flame inside a circle.

His eyes narrowed.

"I don't know your name... but I'll find you."

---

Back in Elaria – Undercity Rooftops

Kuro Jin crouched beneath a cloaked dome ward, overlooking the central spire of the Sanctum Council.

The city pulsed beneath him—serene on the surface, but now he could see the cracks.

The Observers weren't the only force watching this world.

There were others.

[Divine Archive Update – Entry Unlocked: Arlen's Secret Visit to Elaria]

A hidden file appeared, showing Arlen Kairos confronting a Sanctum official—warning of imbalance and corruption.

"…So Arlen tried to stop them," Kuro Jin murmured.

The system chimed again.

[New Objective: Investigate the 'Drowned City of Stars' – Coordinates Imprinted]

Destination: Norvahel – Sunken Capital beneath the Abyssal Sea, west of Elaria.

[Time-Lock Warning: Enemy Forces Already Mobilizing]

Kuro Jin stood, the wind catching his cloak.

"So that's the next piece…"

As he turned to leave, a single silver butterfly—coded and shimmering—landed on his shoulder.

A whisper followed in the air.

"The Watcher is awake. You are no longer alone."

Kuro Jin's eyes sharpened.

"Then let him come."

And with that, he vanished into the

night.
