The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 396: Who'd Worry About You?

Standing at the entrance of Black Gold Security Company, Lin Tian looked at the bustling street and said to Xu Ning'an, "Do you need me to take you home?"

Xu Ning'an rolled her eyes, "Nonsense, you guys brought me here. If you don't take me back, who will?"

"Then let's go." Lin Tian shrugged helplessly and started walking.

"Hey."

Xu Ning'an caught up with small hurried steps and asked, "Are you really planning to walk back?"

"What else? Should I carry you and fly back?"

"Aren't you a mafia boss? Where's your car?" Xu Ning'an looked at him as if he were an idiot. "And besides, you're leading the way without asking me for directions. Do you even know where my house is?"

Lin Tian thought for a moment. He had bought a car a few days ago, but the driver's license would take about half a month as promised by Wu Yong, so he couldn't drive even if he had a car now.

"Then let me call a car." Lin Tian said.

Xu Ning'an snorted lightly, turned, and walked towards another road, "No need. My house isn't far from here. We'll get there after a bit of walking... What are you standing there for? Let's go."

"Since your house isn't far, why do you need me to escort you back? Even police officers fear running into robbers. You're already fortunate enough not to be robbing others."

"Isn't escorting a pretty lady home your undeniable duty? You should feel honored, yet you have so many excuses." Xu Ning'an said with a fiery tone, wondering if this guy had a wooden head.

"After taking you home, I have to walk back alone. How about you return the favor and escort me back? Unless... you treat me to a meal." Lin Tian said shamelessly.

"Others dream of taking me home, and you want me to feed you?" Xu Ning'an's eyes widened. All her life, boys had been accommodating her, yet this guy didn't seize the opportunity at all.

"Yes, at least two meals." Lin Tian nodded as if it was only natural.

Xu Ning'an shouted out, "This is robbery, extortion, blackmail. I'm a police officer!"

Lin Tian nodded proudly, "So what?"

Xu Ning'an sneered, "Don't blame me for being rude to you then."

Lin Tian looked at her curiously, waiting to see what rudeness she was capable of.

Xu Ning'an was getting angry, but her version of being rude was simply... pushing him once, Lin Tian took a step forward, another push, another step forward.

And so, step by step, amid their playful bickering, they covered the remaining distance.

After escorting Xu Ning'an home, Lin Tian didn't accept her invitation to come up for a while. Instead, he waved her goodbye and took a taxi back to the dormitory at school.

Upon opening the dorm door, Lin Tian walked in, only to find that Meng Nan and the others still hadn't returned. Glancing at his phone, it was already half-past eleven.

It seemed those old perverts were all indulging in a sweet dream, leaving him alone in this empty room.

With a bitter smile, Lin Tian picked up a set of clothes, took a shower, then lay on his bed. He tossed and turned, unable to sleep, his mind drifting back to the days he spent with Bai Shishi.

Is she losing weight without me by her side?

And Mei Ruyan, she must still be her cold, frosty self, unable to comfort Bai Shishi.

As his mind wandered with miscellaneous thoughts, he gradually drifted into a drowsy sleep. In his dream, it was like there was a film reel playing, replaying recent events in Lin Tian's mind.

The next day, Lin Tian was woken up by the sound of knocking at the door.

Lin Tian rolled out of bed and opened the door to find an energetic sixty-year-old man with a head full of white hair.

He pushed open the door, took a couple of glances inside, and then said, "I'm your class advisor for this academic year, Zhao Xuefeng. Where are the others in your dorm? None of you showed up at yesterday's freshman assembly, and now you're planning to skip this morning's flag-raising ceremony?"

Lin Tian paused for a moment, surprised to meet his advisor under such circumstances. However, he realized it was indeed his fault this time. Lin Tian didn't argue but smiled at Zhao Xuefeng, "Teacher, I'll call them right away to meet up."

Zhao Xuefeng nodded with satisfaction, pointing in a direction, "Just at the plaza downstairs, freshen up quickly and head there."

With that, Zhao Xuefeng left the dormitory to knock on doors of other dorms.

Lin Tian hurriedly took out his phone to call those old perverts, but none of the calls went through.

They had probably drunk too much and engaged in physical exertion all night, now sleeping like logs, unreachable by phone.

With another bitter smile, Lin Tian had no choice but to brush his teeth and wash his face, then rush towards the plaza.

Reaching the plaza, Lin Tian squinted under the scorching sun, seeing throngs of people. It was so crowded that spotting his class was only possible by a few boys holding up conspicuous class signs.

Soon, Lin Tian spotted a boy holding up his class's sign, with a crooked line of students behind him, presumably his classmates.

Lin Tian quickly walked over, joined the line, and observed that there were more girls than boys in the class, who were chatting and laughing together.

Soon, Lin Tian noticed a familiar figure, Liou Qingcheng.

She stood in the line, head down, engrossed in her phone, hiding her beautiful face, and without an umbrella, she was drenched in sweat under the sun.

Lin Tian squeezed into the line, standing just behind Liou Qingcheng without being noticed by her.

Just as Lin Tian was about to greet her, he heard Liou Qingcheng mumbling something. What would be inaudible to regular people was crystal clear to Lin Tian, now a lower-tier Martial Artist.

"Lin Tian, that bastard didn't come yesterday, and missed today's flag-raising too. Let's see how the advisor will scold you tomorrow."

Liou Qingcheng held her phone, showing Lin Tian's number, contemplating whether to message him.

Suddenly, a hand reached over and snatched the phone away.

"Ah!" Liou Qingcheng was startled, quickly turning around to retrieve her phone, only to find it was in that annoying jerk's hand.

"Lin Tian!" Liou Qingcheng fumed and glared at him, "Give me back my phone!"

Liou Qingcheng suddenly felt quite wronged, knowing that jerk upset her yesterday but didn't console her, even got into a fight with that woman. Now he was snatching her phone.

"Were you worried about me just now?" Lin Tian chuckled before handing the phone back, "I was just joking, don't be mad."

"Hmph. Who's worried about you?" Liou Qingcheng snatched the phone and proudly turned away.

Suddenly, a parasol was held over Liou Qingcheng's head, shielding her from the scorching sun.

"In such a big sun, a girl should carry an umbrella when going out, you're sweating all over, wipe it off."

Lin Tian's voice whispered by her ear, accompanied by a packet of tissues extending in front of her.

Liou Qingcheng accepted the tissues, her heart warmed, and her anger mostly dissipated as she glanced back at Lin Tian, her tone softened, "Where did the umbrella come from?"

Lin Tian chuckled, "I figured with your personality you wouldn't bring one, so I brought it."

"Hmph, you're smart." Liou Qingcheng said proudly, turning back around, her face now adorned with a sweet smile. As for her earlier anger, it was long forgotten.

Of course, Lin Tian's words were a lie.

The truth was it was snatched—from an old acquaintance, Sun Hongkai.

This guy had quite the entourage; even while using a phone, someone held an umbrella for him. Lin Tian simply took it without a word.

Sun Hongkai looked up, about to lose his temper, but upon seeing Lin Tian, he immediately cowered, not daring to say a word.
