I Am The Only Witch Hunter

Chapter 173: Upgrading Parave

The sigil for <Dispellera> was three interlocking circles that formed a small triangle in the middle.

As the mercury completed the symbol, the sigil lit up in white color. It floated up slightly above the mirror, the triangle opened up like a mouth.

Siderius placed the three dark red crystals inside the triangle and immediately. The mercury turned into a knot that rotated around the Dark Aether.

The red crystals turned from its solid state to its liquid state and followed the patterns of the knot to the three empty circles. New symbols of red formed inside each circle. It took the power from the Dark Aether to complete the sigil.

Inside each circle now had the symbols of a key, a hammer and a needle.

Then, the sigil seeped under the mirror.

[Mercury -10]

[<Dispellera> is registered]

[SIGILS]:

1. <Vertigo>

2. <Parave>

3. <Dispellera>

Siderius smiled. The index, middle and thumb of his left hand stretched out and drew three circles at the same time. The sigil lit up in the air in white and red.

However, as Siderius didn't provide a target for it, <Dispel> naturally disappeared into nothingness.

A surge of weakness washed over Siderius. It came quickly and disappeared just as quick. <Dispel> had a much higher consumption of Stamina compared to <Vertigo> and <Parave> but Siderius could pay the price.

His body had become much more resilient than it once was.

"It is still early. I should refill the Mercury as well."

[Mercury +10]

Mercury was a hard element to find. Siderius intended to store as much as he could. He wouldn't have much chance to visit the Rose Springs in the future.

After filling up the extract storage, Siderius also sealed a lot of Mercury and Sulfur into Salt Crystals. He made as much Mercury Crystals and Sulfur Crystals as he could so that he would be able to fill them up when he needed to.

"This place is actually very valuable. The natural mineral water is precious. The place is also a mine with a lot of rare ores. If I can find a way to take control of this place, I won't have to worry about Mercury anymore..."

Siderius rubbed his chin in deep thought. It was easier said then done. The Rose Springs were very huge. It was much bigger than Santa Roberto and could even become a minor town on its own. To take control of it, Siderius would need a lot of people.

"The number of people that a mining camp has..." Siderius grinned deviously. Suddenly he had some idea on what needed to be done. But to do that, he needed to take care of the Bailiff in Mucktown.

"The Bailiff..." Siderius squinted his eyes when he thought about him.

The Bailiff was the leader of small town like Mucktown. While the Baron, a title one rank higher than the Bailiff, controlled a barony, a territory that was bigger and had more resource than a small town.

Scalize was a barony.

"Snow told me to kill the assassin, Thane Beaumort and Lyara Starcrow. He didn't know that the Bailiff might have something to do with it as well.

Don't worry, Snow. Even if you don't name him. I will make sure he suffer!"

Siderius still held the rage of Snow inside his heart. He still hadn't forgotten about his mission. However, one needed power to accomplish it. Blindly charging into the enemy lines would be nothing more than suicide.

"Now that I actually have some power to defend myself. It's time to settle the debt when I return. But before that, I can still make myself stronger."

Siderius came to Rose Springs because of the Mercury. But he also came here to look for tortoise.

Tortoise was a reptile living exclusively on land. They were usually spotted in deserts, grasslands and forests. Siderius needed its shell to upgrade Parave into a more powerful version.

According to Jayce, the owner of the Crossroads Inn, many hunter had spotted tortoises near the Hot Springs so Siderius also wanted to try his luck here.

The tortoise had a hard complex shell on its back that could protect it from many predators. The unique trait about the shell of a tortoise was that it never shed its shell like a sea turtle might do.

Its shell grew with its body and added new layer on top of the shell the longer it lived.

Parave could only last one second because its energy was provided only once, at the start of its activation.

Parare was an upgraded version of it that could maintain the shield continuously in exchange for Siderius' stamina. It used the same principle as the tortoise shell by adding more and more energy on top of the existing shield, prolonging the effect of the sigil as long as the user could endure.

It also has a greater capacity of withstanding outside force. While Parave could only guard against the power of a male human adult. Parare should have no problem defending against the full charging force of a bear.

If Siderius had Parare when he faced Pax, he wouldn't need to avoid him and could simply clash into pax head on with the Parare sigil.

Siderius left the rock formation and returned to the outskirt of the Rose Springs. He found an open area to set up a camp there and summoned Red back.

Once the campfire was set up, Siderius grabbed his bow and walked around the outskirt of the Rose Springs to look for small games. Lycan followed him closely, its nose darted around and hissed like a tracking hound.

It didn't take them long before they spotted a few rabbits hopping back to their den at dusk.

Siderius raised his bow and readied his arrow. Then he gave a signal to the hiding wolverine.

It bolted out of the bush and bit at the neck of a rabbit, killing it immediately.

Two other rabbits jumped up because of the noise and soon met Siderius' arrows. They died quickly and without much suffering.

Siderius brought the rabbits back to camp for dinner. Lycan didn't need to cook the rabbit like Siderius so he just ate it raw when they got back to camp.

He, the horse, and the wolverine gathered around the fire of the campfire and enjoyed the evening. Siderius slowly spun the gutted rabbit over the fire.
