Invincible Young Master in the City

Chapter 1068: Xu Jie All Bark and No Bite

Sister Xu is obviously bullying Qing Xu for being young and naive. The little girl put her hands on her hips and said, "No way, I came out with my senior brother. Who are you, not allowed to take him away!"

Sister Xu said in surprise, "Senior brother? Ye Fan, this little sister doesn't seem to be your sister, is she your junior sister? How do you determine the hierarchy?"

Ye Fan pulled Qing Xu a little closer to him and said with a smile, "It's nothing, just how we usually refer to each other, call whatever you like. Sister Xu, how about this, I drive your car to take you back, and then take a cab back with my little sister."

"Oh, are you willing to leave your sports car at the station? Aren't you afraid... ha, well yes, this is the police station, where could be safer? But having such a high-spec sports car in this courtyard does seem out of place with our city's bureau." Sister Xu looked at the sports car Ye Fan was driving, obviously interested in taking it for a spin herself.

Ye Fan took out the keys with a smile and said, "Then when Sister Xu comes tomorrow, you can help find a parking lot for it. Anyway, I am leaving Ninghai temporarily tomorrow, and I can't drive this car. If Sister Xu likes, you can drive it yourself."

"How could I accept that?" Sister Xu's eyes lit up and she said.

"It's nothing, really." Ye Fan thought it was best to quickly send Sister Xu off and take Qing Xu back to the villa, as Li Zhaojun and the others were waiting.

Sister Xu happily gave her car keys to Ye Fan, letting him drive while she sat in the front passenger seat, placing Qing Xu in the back seat.

"Little sister, buckle up your seatbelt, any accidents would be bad." Sister Xu turned her head with a smile and said to Qing Xu.

Qing Xu stuck her tongue out and ignored it, Ye Fan directly started the car and said, "Sister Xu, where do you live?"

"Qingshan Road, oh right, you're not from Ninghai, just use navigation." Sister Xu looked at Ye Fan with a smile, "Or do you want me to drive?"

Ye Fan glanced at the navigation, realizing it was over ten kilometers away, farther than his trip back to the villa. He knew they should hurry to avoid wasting time. He smiled and said, "No need, I drive very steadily, Sister Xu doesn't need to worry."

Ye Fan drove the car, and because his speed was relatively fast, Sister Xu suddenly placed her hand on Ye Fan's leg, seemingly unconsciously, saying, "Slow down."

The car wove through streets and alleys and as they were nearing the entrance to Sister Xu's neighborhood, they suddenly heard a few popping sounds, like fireworks or gunshots.

"What's going on?" Sister Xu opened the car window, looking towards the source of the sound.

At this moment, her phone rang, and a small boy's crying voice came through, "Mom, there are a lot of bad people outside, they have guns and are shooting people... boohoo, Mom, I'm scared!"

"Little An, don't be afraid, Mom will be there soon!" Sister Xu, clearly a detective, took out her gun but then realized they were still some distance from the incident site.

"What are you waiting for, drive!" Sister Xu, no longer gentle, shouted at Ye Fan.

Ye Fan chuckled bitterly and drove into the neighborhood, while Sister Xu looked up at her apartment building, where the neighborhood security had also emerged. "Officer Xu, it's not good, there are robbers inside, and it seems they are targeting several police households in our area. You better not go up."

"Bang Bang!" Gunshots sounded again from upstairs.

Sister Xu, like a tigress, shouted, "Get out of the way, my son is still up there!"

Sister Xu didn't care about anything else, directly heading downstairs with her gun. The building was old, just seven floors and without an elevator, so she headed for the stairway. She had barely taken two steps when gunshots rang out again from above.

"Senior brother, what's happening?" Qing Xu asked from the side.

"Wait down here, I'll go take a look!" Ye Fan knew it might be Sun Ronghe's men retaliating, and there were still many ordinary residents upstairs, so these gunmen were acting recklessly.

Ye Fan followed, and Sister Xu called to him, "You don't even have a gun, don't go up."

"Sister Xu, you don't know me; sometimes, I love playing the hero!"

With that, Ye Fan directly dashed upstairs, with Sister Xu following initially, but hearing two gunshots that seemed to fly by her, she quickly found cover. Yet, Ye Fan didn't pause at all, continuing upstairs. Sister Xu muttered, "Is he crazy?"

"Ah..." A scream suddenly came from upstairs, followed by three gunshots, and Sister Xu had a bad feeling. Then there were women's cries of "Oh my God, someone is dead!" from above.

Upstairs was chaotic.

Sister Xu thought, "Could it be that Ye Fan was killed by those robbers?"

Then she heard Ye Fan's voice, "It's okay now, everyone head downstairs, it's not safe here."

Ye Fan wasn't sure if there were still robbers hiding on the rooftop, so he evacuated the residents downstairs. Only then did Sister Xu react, heading upstairs with her gun. At the fourth-floor entrance to her apartment, she saw her son with blood on him and quickly asked, "Little An, are you okay?"

"Mom, I'm fine. It's the bad guy's blood that uncle just shot. Don't worry, Little An isn't scared!" The little boy, having witnessed Ye Fan fighting and killing the bad guys, wasn't much terrified or afraid.

Just as Sister Xu hugged her son to go downstairs, two more gunshots rang from above.

"Uncle Liu, help take Little An downstairs, I'll go up to help!" Sister Xu knew there were likely still robbers on the rooftop, so she handed her son to the neighbor for him to take downstairs while she went to assist Ye Fan.

Reaching the top floor, she was about to rush onto the rooftop when more gunfire erupted. Just as she prepared to shoot, Ye Fan grabbed her from behind, saying, "Crazy? They aren't using handguns but rifles. Going up there is suicide."

"You?" Sister Xu was surprised, looking at Ye Fan emerging from behind.

"Stay put, I'll go!" Ye Fan darted to the rooftop door.

Sister Xu said, "Here, take the gun..."

Due to the noise, two more gunshots ensued, possibly owing to trauma from the shooting, Sister Xu felt her legs weaken. Additionally, it was so dark that she couldn't see what was happening, just watched Ye Fan rush the rooftop, followed by silence.

Sister Xu didn't dare breathe heavily, but soon heard police sirens approaching, and still hadn't reacted. She asked, "Ye Fan, are you okay?"

The rooftop door opened as a shadow entered, and Sister Xu, a bit panicked, fired at the shadow, but heard a voice saying, "Sister, aren't you supposed to be good? Why not ask before shooting?"

Realizing she shot the wrong person, Sister Xu hurriedly went to check on Ye Fan, "Are you... are you okay, where did I hit you?"

However, that bullet was caught in Ye Fan's hand. He hadn't expected Sister Xu, who talked so tough, to be so useless in a real bloody scenario.

"It's okay, I took care of the robbers," Ye Fan said.

"You alone?" Sister Xu was incredulous. "Don't joke, find a place to hide..."
