The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse

Chapter 1101: The Poisonous Bait of Faith (Part 3)

"This life or death, isn't it just a matter of its one word?" said Robey.

[Luckily, the four of you escaped the Tree Demon's domain, but lost a companion forever, now part of the forest's nourishment.]

[Your Intelligence -2.]

[You picked up the Tree Demon Vine, Charm +2.]

[Attribute bonuses are limited to within the game.]

[After a short rest, the team, encouraged by the Blood Clan Captain, set off again, and the Destiny Dice begins to roll...]

"Damn! A dead teammate, and it even reduces Intelligence?"

"It's not scientific! Lilith can fly, and Viola can turn into smoke, how could such a weak Tree Demon trap them?"

"It's in the game, duh!"

The dice rolled and landed on three.

The four little figures on the board moved forward three spaces.

[Crossing the Corrupted Forest, you encounter several peculiarly dressed villagers filling in a pit.]

[You step forward to ask for directions, only for the villagers to scatter in alarm upon seeing you.]

"They run away as soon as they see us? Aren't our characters normal people?" The Wood Elf sister, Silvien, suddenly looked up.

Viola then said, "The narrative style is quite bizarre to begin with, perhaps they are caught doing something bad by us."

Mini, standing at the back, said, "Your team just had a Ghost as a teammate, so it's reasonable that the characters aren't ordinary people!"

Silvien nodded, "Hmm! Makes sense."

[Perception 30, discovered a clue.]

[Adventurers blessed by Divine Spirits, all of you sense something different beneath your feet.]

[You dig into the freshly filled earth and rescue a barely alive boy.]

[Constitution 23, immune to disease damage.]

[All members passed.]

[This is an exceptionally scruffy boy, who neither thanked you nor looked back, just ran away.]

[Constitution -3, disease resistance increased.]

[You paid no attention to the ungrateful wild child and resumed the journey, the dice began to spin again...]

The dice rolled a one.

The puppet moved forward one space.

[You see a village.]

[The tilted sign at the village entrance reads 'Green Breath Village,' a name implying vitality but shadowed by deathly silence.]

[The air is thick with the scent of herbs and something burnt.]

[The village is frighteningly quiet, with pairs of eyes peeking through windows, corners, and dark places.]

[Suddenly, villagers emerge with pitchforks and wooden sticks, surrounding you, the ones who recently fled among them.]

[An elder steps forward, his raspy voice questioning whether anything had happened when you came, then pointing towards the direction where you rescued the boy.]

[Charm 35, saw through the verbal trap.]

[You adamantly deny, not wanting trouble, especially since the villagers indeed outnumber you.]

[The elder nods and leads you into the village, explaining that recently there's been a spike in diseases, urging you to leave after staying one night.]

[You stayed for the night and continued your journey the next day. The dice of fate rolls again...]

The dice rolled, surprisingly landing on six.

The puppet swiftly moves six spaces.

[You stand on the grand, noisy, yet equally dilapidated city square.]

[A dreadful plague is sweeping through various Kingdom cities, bodies piling up and wails filling the air. The prayers of priests are futile, and herbs offer no relief.]

[Only the followers of the Plague God 'Amos' can miraculously alleviate the plague, allowing the afflicted to breathe easier. This is not healing, but rather the plague submitting meekly before him, being absorbed.]

[People transition from initial fear, to disbelief, finally turning into fervent worship.]

[Adventurers, a powerful force of Faith engulfs you, compelling you to kneel before the youth absorbing the plague and bringing 'salvation,' like the surrounding populace.]

[Intelligence 40 points, exemption succeeded.]

[You barely resist the mental pressure without kneeling, clearly feeling a vast, terrifying, twisted consciousness being anchored through the faith of people—Amos sees you.]

[He instructs his followers to clear a path, allowing you to leave.]

[In the sky, a twisted phantom woven from disease aura and wish light appears, the youth's body begins to transform, no longer having a form, but rather taking an indescribable shape.]

[Below, the followers shout passionately, hailing the Divine Spirits.]

[You flee from there, and when the light of God ceases to shine upon you, you discover that each of you holds a piece of yellowed Parchment in your hands, Exemption Scroll +4.]

[Game over.]
