"Type C…"
Yao Wei murmured.
The current outcome was already very clear.
The enemy coming from the southwest wasn't a Type A Neo-Human, but a Type C Neo-Human.
And this Type C Neo-Human was somewhat special—he could control animals from such a long distance, something not recorded in the pamphlet.
Perhaps that person used methods they were unaware of; there are more powerful individuals than Yao Huo and Ye Wenxin out there, always possessing ways unknown to them.
Now that they've encountered him, they can only face him head-on.
"Attention, Neo-Human detected approaching at high speed from the southeast, please be cautious."
Gou's electronic voice echoed through the RV's speakers again.
Yao Wei's gaze sharpened.
Indeed, another red dot appeared on the map of the central control screen, coming from the southeast.
More precisely, it was coming from the lower downstream of Guanhai River, heading upstream along the river course.
Judging from the trajectory and speed, it was just like the red dot they had seen when heading south earlier.
However, this time the Type A Neo-Human surely wouldn't go to Sickness Village again.
Their target may also be herself and Lu Xi'an...
According to her earlier deductions with Lu Xi'an, Yao Wei felt that this red dot wasn't affiliated with the one already stopped by the southern roadside, especially considering their locations, and with the Sickness Village in between, they seemed to be taking precautions against each other.
But who knows if there might be any unexpected events among them?
Anything is possible, their deductions had already proven incorrect once, another surprise wouldn't be impossible.
Therefore, they must not let these two red dots converge!
Yao Wei quickly realized her idea, without needing to consult Lu Xi'an.
It's not the time for discussion now; Lu Xi'an is still busy dealing with those hyenas outside, he has no time for any consultation.
Once she exposes herself, she'll lose the advantage of dealing with the Type C Neo-Human stationed outside on the highway.
"Gou, help me find someone."
She said to Gou.
Gou agreed: "Mechanical Dog 02 at your service."
She immediately pulled the mechanical dog out from the vehicle, holding Gou in one hand and a sniper rifle in the other, grabbed a handful of pebbles, and some small parts Lu Xi'an had gathered to use as hidden weapons, and jumped out of the car.
She lay low on the hilltop, took a quick glance at the road, where Lu Xi'an had already thrown out all the glass shards from the drawer box, whether piece by piece or scattering them directly using the drawer box like the Celestial Maiden Scattering Flowers, was unknown.
Anyway, shards had more or less struck those hyenas, and even many were lodged in vital areas, yet they were essentially not dead.
Yao Wei only saw one corpse on the ground, its head smashed into a pulp. That one probably hadn't been prepared, directly charged and got counter-killed by Lu Xi'an.
These hyenas were different; the Type C Neo-Human behind them was different too. Their strength had exceeded expectations; if it had been her and Lu Xi'an earlier, it would have been a certain death.
Their physical robustness was truly beyond any Neo-Human they had encountered before.
If not, these hyenas should have been punctured and exploded by Lu Xi'an's thrown glass shards, not allowing shards to embed, hit vital spots and still survive.
Having seen the first hyena's demise, the rest had learned a lesson and didn't attempt a direct charge aimed to collide with Lu Xi'an head-on.
Originally there were eleven hyenas, now there were only ten left.
They coordinated flawlessly, surrounded Lu Xi'an front and back, with some feigning attack to distract him, while others waited at the back for opportune moments to pounce.
Amidst them, Lu Xi'an charged here and there but struggled to find an opening to break through, using the drawer box as a weapon, with his strength if it lands on a hyena it would turn the box to bits.
However, the hyenas were vigilant and ready to retreat, causing the box to never land a hit.
The situation was in a stalemate. The encirclement kept orbiting around Lu Xi'an, like planets around the sun, never easily intersecting.
Yao Wei watched anxiously, feeling an urge to rush to Lu Xi'an's side and face them together.
But she forcibly suppressed it.
She knew full well that with these hyenas' tactics, joining in might lead her into being surrounded with Lu Xi'an.
Breaking the encirclement would be fine, but failure would mean being caught in it, fighting the hyenas desperately.
Thus, she only scoped it once, suppressed the impulse, crouched low, finding cover along the roadside, swiftly heading south.
"Drones, keep up."
She recalled something, for safety, spoke to Gou once more.
Consequently, the drone took off from the RV, flew low beside Yao Wei, accompanying her southward.
"Gou, point out those insects you mentioned if you see them on the way."
Yao Wei suddenly said.
Never miss the opportunity even at the risk of a mistake; Gou had mentioned insects in the car earlier. Yao Wei wasn't sure if those insects related to the Type C Neo-Human, but what if they did?
"If possible, let the drones handle them."
She added.
Gou didn't respond, but the drone quickly started shooting lasers flying beside her.
The laser fired soundlessly; Yao Wei could only see beams of indescribable colored light flare instantaneously, and where they shone, burning scorched odors arose.
Yao Wei pressed forward rapidly, the drone trailing behind, and as they moved forward, the flashing lasers shot like an energy attack from TV series, appearing and disappearing in a flash, scorching pits emerging on the ground, trunks of trees pierced through.
And passing through this area, the insects vanished, seemingly concentrated at a stretch along that path, gone further ahead or behind.
Those insects indeed had issues.
Yao Wei thought to herself.
But as to what specific problem there is and what function it can serve, she temporarily couldn't figure it out.
Nor did she have the time to think.
She continued forward, and after walking a short distance, the light in Gou's eyes suddenly shone brightly for a moment, but it didn't point directly at any spot.
Yao Wei estimated that this was the place, not far from the position where the red dot stopped on the map.
Gou was probably afraid that the light from its eyes would be spotted by the distant Neo-Humans, so it didn't shine over there. Instead, it flickered at close range to inform Yao Wei.
Gou is really intelligent, truly awesome!
Yao Wei marveled in her heart, then crouched down to set up the sniper rifle, searching for the direction, glanced briefly, and then placed her eye back on the scope for a closer look.
And then, she saw a striped tiger.
The tiger seemed somewhat unusual, slightly larger than an ordinary tiger.
It seemed like that Type C Neo-Human had quite a few treasures under its control.
——For Type C Neo-Humans, any animal under their control is their treasure.
And this treasure was clearly executing the task of guarding the Type C Neo-Human.
Beside the highway where Yao Wei's sniper rifle was pointed stood a tree, and the striped tiger kept pacing around it incessantly.
Judging from the situation there, there appeared to be no other places to hide.
Was it behind the tree?
Yao Wei speculated, but she wasn't in a hurry. She looked around elsewhere through the scope and, after seeing that there was nothing, she aimed back at the tree.
The tiger was still pacing.
"Gou, is it behind the tree?"
Yao Wei asked. If it was behind the tree, she could estimate the height and shoot directly at the trunk.
With the penetrating power of this sniper rifle's bullets, shooting at that tree should be no problem.
But the dog's eyes flickered twice.
Yao Wei: "..."
In that case, this method was not feasible.
Yao Wei aimed at the tiger.
"Gou, flash the light for the number of living beings over there."
She said to Gou again.
Gou's eyes flashed three times.
This indicated that, besides the tiger, there was another "treasure" belonging to that Type C Neo-Human.
As for the Neo-Humans moving along the southeastern riverside, they wouldn't arrive in time at this moment.
Time was limited; she had to act quickly.
Yao Wei made up her mind immediately and aimed at the tiger's head, pulling the trigger.
She hoped this tiger wouldn't be as strong as those hyenas.
As she pulled the trigger, she thought.
——She only wanted to quickly inflict casualties on the Type C Neo-Human combination ahead, then rush over to deal with the remaining two.
This would promptly resolve the situation, first to prevent surprises on Lu Xi'an's side, and second to prevent the Neo-Humans from the Guanhai River from arriving and merging with this Type C Neo-Human.
"Bang!"
The gunshot rang out, and the tiger's head exploded, collapsing powerlessly to the ground.
Thank goodness…
Yao Wei thought.
It seemed this tiger truly wasn't as strong as those hyenas.
That was a relief.
Yao Wei put down the gun, picked up Gou, and dashed towards the tree, saying, "Gou, point it out for me!"
Gou immediately reacted, its eyes projecting two beams of light forward.
However, to Yao Wei's surprise, the light from Gou's eyes still pointed at the tree.
This mechanical dog had previously indicated that the Type C Neo-Human wasn't behind the tree!
But Yao Wei couldn't afford to care about that now. What if the person had hidden behind the tree at this moment?
She charged ahead, grabbed three pebbles, and hurled them violently towards the tree.
"Whoosh——"
The three pebbles formed a straight line, hitting the tree with a speed as quick as lightning.
"Crack——"
The tree trunk broke, and the top half of the tree tilted down towards Yao Wei's direction.
But there was no one behind the tree.
Yao Wei paused in mild astonishment.
She rushed forward, arrived behind the tree, and finally saw the scene behind it——
Behind the tree was actually a hole, leading straight down, pitch-black and deep.
Only then did Yao Wei realize that when Gou's eyes shone over before, they were slanting downwards slightly.
It was just a mouse!
