"It's you..." The woman opened her eyes and saw Luo Chao, her face lit up with joy, and a charming flush appeared on her face. However, upon seeing Luo Chao holding the hand of the beautiful Yan Ruyu, her joyful, expressive eyes suddenly dimmed. She lowered her head, no longer looking at Luo Chao, appearing very disappointed, with a trace of mist rising in her beautiful eyes.
Of course, none of this escaped the eyes of Luo Chao and Yan Ruyu.
Yan Ruyu turned to look at Luo Chao, her eyes full of teasing glances. With Yan Ruyu's experience, she could easily see the strand of affection that this beautiful, fragile, and pure young girl had towards Luo Chao.
Luo Chao smiled but said nothing, continuing to walk forward with Yan Ruyu, reaching the woman's side.
"Yunhan, are you here praying for Princess Qianyu to bring me to your side?" Luo Chao let go of Yan Ruyu's hand, squatted down, and whispered next to Huo Yunhan, his warm breath brushing against her face, making her already flushed face turn even more crimson, like a Red Fuji apple.
This woman was the Dai girl from yesterday afternoon at Gold River, whom Luo Chao had bumped into and taken her first kiss—Huo Yunhan, tender as water, pure as snow.
"No, it wasn't that..." Flustered by Luo Chao's warm breath, she hurriedly denied it, but her voice lacked confidence and was very soft. She lowered her head even more, almost burying it in her hands.
"Haha, really? I just heard your prayer. I heard you praying: Dear Princess Qianyu, please tell me, is the person from yesterday my Jade-like Prince? If so, please bring him to my side! Wasn't that it?" Luo Chao laughed, glancing at Yan Ruyu's amused face, making a playful expression and whispering to Huo Yunhan, then looking at her with a smile.
"How... how did you know? I... clearly... didn't... say it out loud?" To Luo Chao's surprise, Huo Yunhan looked up at him in shock and stammered softly.
Now, it was Luo Chao's turn to be dumbfounded; he hadn't expected his fib to accidentally hit the mark, leaving him speechless for a moment. But this little girl was just too honest.
Yan Ruyu, on the other hand, looked bizarrely at her. This little girl was so naive, easily fooled by Luo Chao. She inwardly cursed Luo Chao as a scoundrel.
"Did you really hear my prayer?" Seeing Luo Chao not answering, Huo Yunhan asked softly again. Her flushed face was full of shyness, yet a little tense.
"I was just teasing you!" Luo Chao smiled bitterly, unwilling to deceive Huo Yunhan further. She was too pure, so pure that it made Luo Chao's heart ache. Being so pure, even when you intend to fool her, you feel like a jerk.
"Ah, you—bad person!" Realizing her thoughts were exposed, Huo Yunhan shyly covered her face with her slender, jade-like hands, too embarrassed to be seen.
"This guy—" Watching the two of them, Yan Ruyu was speechless for a while. Luo Chao had mentioned Liu Qianyu and Han Xinyu before, but not Huo Yunhan. Seeing them now, Luo Chao really was something, and she threw a big sidelong glance at Luo Chao.
"Hehe, Yunhan, it seems I'm your Jade-like Prince, your destined lover, your white horse prince. You don't have to worry about not getting married anymore!" Luo Chao laughed heartily, putting an arm around Huo Yunhan's shoulder.
"Kid, get your filthy hand off me!" Just as Luo Chao put his arm around Huo Yunhan's fragrant shoulders, an angry voice sounded from behind, followed by hurried footsteps approaching.
"Kid, take your filthy hand off me!" A somewhat older voice, urgent and angry, came from behind.
Upon hearing this voice, Luo Chao and Yan Ruyu were slightly stunned. Was something else coming to stir up trouble?
Kneeling on the ground, allowing Luo Chao to embrace her, the shy Huo Yunhan trembled at this voice. Then she snapped out of her shyness, broke away from Luo Chao's hand, and stood up.
She looked awkwardly towards Luo Chao's back, and what Huo Yunhan said next made Luo Chao fall to the ground.
"Daddy—" Huo Yunhan's voice was as beautiful as an oriole, sweet as dew, gentle as flowing water, round and plump as pearls. Like a heavenly sound, ethereal and enchanting, sweet, captivating.
"No way—" Luo Chao cried out in agony. Just when things were going well, her dad showed up!
The old man who had once given him advice probably hated him at this moment. Luo Chao remembered stories from the countryside of fathers chasing their daughter's suitors with a cleaver, sending chills down his spine.
Yan Ruyu found it all bizarre, provoking someone's daughter but getting their father involved. Her eyes were full of amusement, as if waiting to see how he'd handle it.
But our little student Luo Chao was not one to be easily knocked down. He rose smoothly to stand beside Huo Yunhan, reaching out to wrap his arm around her soft waist, and smiled at the angrily approaching Hawking: "Hello, sir, what a coincidence seeing you every day. It must be fate granted by heaven!"
"Kid, it's you again! Get your dirty paws off her!" Hawking, seeing it was Luo Chao, became even angrier and approached to teach Luo Chao a lesson.
"Hey, sir, can't we reason it out?" Luo Chao picked up Huo Yunhan and dodged to the side, shouting at Hawking.
"Daddy—" Huo Yunhan's pretty face blushed as she broke free from Luo Chao and ran forward to grab Hawking, playfully scolding him.
"Yunhan, are you okay? Did this kid hurt you?" Hawking carefully examined his daughter, as if fearing she might be harmed, looking at Luo Chao with a wary glance.
"I'm fine, Dad—" Huo Yunhan said softly.
"Kid, didn't I tell you to stay away from my daughter? Why are you bothering her again?" Seeing his daughter's blushing face, he shook his head, feeling heartbroken, then turned to Luo Chao with a stern look.
"Sorry, sir, it's not my intention, but destiny cannot be defied. You see, she's the one who brought me here, what can I do?" Luo Chao pointed at the huge Princess Qianyu statue in the center of the lake, looking aggrieved.
"Destiny, stop that nonsense—"
"Daddy—"
"It's all because of this kid, making me dizzy with anger. Dad knows not to use foul language. Kid, you better leave, and don't let me see you again!" Hawking's first words were directed at Huo Yunhan, and the latter statement at Luo Chao.
"Sir, you can't do this. It's already the age of free love. You can't keep us apart, right, Yunhan?" Luo Chao glanced at the old Hawking, feeling a bit helpless. In this day and age, to control his daughter so strictly! If it was a bad guy, well, maybe, but Luo Chao prided himself on being a good man. Of course, that was just Luo Chao's own assessment, and whether others thought he was good... that could be debated, with Hawking certainly disagreeing.
