"Officer, can you give me a hundred bucks?" Luo Chao looked at the policeman in front of him, smiling with an expression of "I'm shameless and invincible", the policeman gave Luo Chao a disdainful look, probably taking him for a fraudster. Reluctantly, he pulled out a hundred yuan and tossed it in front of Luo Chao. Luo Chao reached out, grabbed the money, and stuffed it into his pants pocket, gave the policeman a standard military salute, picked up his bag, and swaggered out of the police station.
Just as Luo Chao stepped out, Su Jinyu rushed out, grabbing the policeman who had just given the money and asked, "Where did that kid go?"
"He's gone!" The young officer said with a sense of accomplishment, "I sent him away."
But Su Jinyu arched her eyebrows, stomped her foot, and exclaimed, "Who told you to let him go! Now the victim wants to thank their savior! How am I supposed to find him now!"
Saying this, Su Jinyu still seemed incredulous as she said, "That little rascal really saved a life!"
The young officer who was getting scolded muttered to himself, "You're still looking for him, he might sue you for defamation. If it weren't for me, would you even have the chance to throw a tantrum here?"
Luo Chao caught the last train to Linjiang City, spending only twenty yuan, and in just an hour, arrived at a Province's most bustling financial hub, Linjiang City.
Luo Chao stepped out of the train station, took a deep breath, and quickly found a bathhouse to wash the dust off himself. He then took out another set of clean clothes from his bag and used the address given by the old man to go find someone.
In the center of Linjiang City's most bustling economic zone stood several office towers. On the top floor of one of them, a man in his forties, dressed in a suit, stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a cigar that was emitting wisps of smoke. In the office, there was also another middle-aged man in a black suit, standing respectfully by.
After an unknown period, the man with the cigar turned around, revealing a well-maintained face. He was Jiang Weidong, the largest investor in Linjiang City.
Jiang Weidong extinguished the cigar in the ashtray, and only then did he ask the man beside him, "A Yuan, why hasn't he arrived yet?"
The man called A Yuan pondered for a moment and said, "Maybe he's still on the way. Linjiang City is so big, maybe he got lost. No need to worry, sir."
"It's impossible for someone found by Uncle Zhou to make such a basic mistake," Jiang Weidong decisively negated, then said, "Let's wait a bit longer and see."
Meanwhile, Luo Chao had just arrived downstairs at the Jiang Group building and walked briskly into the Jiang Group office building. Luo Chao headed straight inside, causing the receptionist to be dissatisfied and directly run out to stop him.
"Sir, who are you looking for?" The receptionist, who was particularly pretty, frowned upon seeing Luo Chao dressed like a laborer, her expression not too pleasant.
Luckily, Luo Chao was thick-skinned and didn't notice, simply saying, "I'm looking for Jiang Weidong."
The receptionist was stunned for a moment and asked again, "Who are you looking for?"
Luo Chao thought he hadn't made himself clear, so he raised his voice and pronounced each word clearly, "I'm looking for Jiang Weidong."
The name Jiang Weidong sounded so familiar... The receptionist's eyes turned as she remembered that Jiang Weidong was the president's name!
She then scrutinized Luo Chao up and down closely. This kid dressed like a caveman coming to see the boss? Could it be some laborer's child coming to extort money?
Thinking of this, the receptionist suddenly felt this was closely related to herself. If the boss is in trouble, how could the employees below have good days ahead?
So she very consciously inquired about Luo Chao's background, "Why are you looking for Jiang Weidong? Which construction site worker are you related to?"
Laborer? Luo Chao heard the receptionist's words and paused, only then realizing that this woman stopped him because he looked like a laborer? How the hell do I look like a laborer?!
Thinking of this, Luo Chao got a bit angry and was about to push past the receptionist to find Jiang Weidong himself.
The receptionist, bravely and firmly holding onto Luo Chao, shouted loudly, "Who are you? You can't go up, security, security, drag this laborer out!"
The two security guards standing not far away saw Luo Chao tussling with the receptionist and rushed over, intending to drag Luo Chao out.
Luo Chao looked at the two security guards coming at him and sneered. These two weren't even worth one of his fingers. Why are people so shallow these days?
He was simply here to meet his employer, why was it so difficult?
Just as the two security guards reached Luo Chao, a voice shouted from behind, "What are you doing here?!"
The two security guards shivered simultaneously, and Luo Chao patted the crumpled clothes and calmly looked toward the direction of the voice. It was a middle-aged man in a black suit, standing there looking slightly angry at them.
"Brother Yuan, this kid is causing trouble here." One of the security guards, being the villain who complains first, ran over to A Yuan, pointing at Luo Chao.
"Oh?" A Yuan had already noticed Luo Chao. From the very first glance, he saw that this kid was different. Though casually standing there, he exuded an aura.
"Who is this gentleman?" A Yuan's tone was relatively humble, surprising the two security guards and the receptionist.
Luo Chao walked up to A Yuan, seeing that he seemed like someone with authority, and said, "I'm looking for Jiang Weidong."
"Were you sent by Elder Zhou..." Before A Yuan could finish his words, Luo Chao nodded and said, "Yes, I am."
A Yuan's demeanor became more respectful, standing even more upright and bowing slightly to Luo Chao, "The owner has been waiting for you for a long time. Please, come with me now?"
For A Yuan's attitude, Luo Chao didn't make too much of a fuss, staying calm and simply replied, "Alright, let's go."
After Luo Chao entered the president's private elevator with A Yuan, the two security guards and the receptionist finally snapped back to reality from their shock.
The receptionist immediately burst into tears, holding her arms as she wailed, "The boss won't fire me, will he? Who'd have guessed even a laborer could receive such courtesy?"
The two security guards were even paler, unable to utter a word.
Luo Chao followed A Yuan into the president's office. Jiang Weidong came forward directly, shook Luo Chao's hand, and said, "You must be Luo Chao, right? Elder Zhou told me about your situation. I'm Jiang Weidong."
Luo Chao nodded. After all, this was his employer, and if he didn't behave, the old man might handle him poorly when he returned to the mountains. So he respectfully said, "Hello, Mr. Jiang."
