Sun Wukong accidentally created Water Marrow and suddenly understood many things.
The next day during his cultivation, he suddenly asked, "Master, where do the rules of heaven and earth originate from?"
Master Puti was startled, "How did you come to think of asking this?"
"I don't understand."
Sun Wukong answered.
He had not learned the Water God's spells from the Grandmaster; the Water Marrow was solely created through his understanding of the Heavenly Dao.
Sun Wukong had confirmed one thing, Daoist Skills and Divine Skills, as well as various cultivation laws, are not created out of nothing.
They inherently exist as rules; they just get interpreted and summarized by people, then transmitted down as writings and methods of cultivation.
But why do these rules exist?
What is Merit? Why can Merit lead to becoming an Immortal?
What is Incense Power? Why can Incense Power lead to becoming a God?
The things that Immortals consider obvious in their cultivation puzzled Sun Wukong.
"What is the origin of these rules?"
He contemplated a deeper issue.
Master Puti looked at Sun Wukong: "You really are special."
Across the Three Realms, only a few ponder why the rules of heaven and earth are such.
Master Puti shook his head: "Unfortunately, I cannot answer your question."
Let alone him, no one within the Three Realms could provide Sun Wukong with an answer.
The Grandmaster told Sun Wukong that, in each major calamity of the past, some speculated that above the Heavenly Dao, there was something shaping the rules of heaven and earth.
"But no one knows what it is."
Master Puti said, "Last great calamity, a group of Immortals believed that if they found that thing, the world wouldn't keep collapsing and rebirthing."
He looked at Sun Wukong: "They were smarter than the Jade Emperor, yet they never found it till their deaths."
Sun Wukong remained silent.
"Some Immortals suspected it to be a being more powerful than them, one who orchestrated everything in the world."
Master Puti chuckled. "In their quest to find him, they all fell into the Demon Path and perished during the great calamity."
Sun Wukong asked, "Master, what do you think it is?"
"I don't know."
The Grandmaster answered, "But I'm certain it's not a person, nor any higher being."
"How does Master know it's not a person?"
Sun Wukong asked.
Master Puti did not answer this question.
"What if that thing really exists, what happens if it's found?"
Sun Wukong asked again.
"Finding it, you would become omnipotent."
The Grandmaster answered, "But the methods of the past won't find it."
It is not a being, but a piece of knowledge.
Daoism and Buddhism have tried to grasp this knowledge, but thus far, no one has found it.
"Perhaps he can do it..."
Master Puti thought as he looked at Sun Wukong.
He might be able to find that ultimate knowledge, unraveling the secrets of this world.
But Master Puti couldn't say much more, because he also didn't understand; saying more could mislead Sun Wukong.
Thus, Sun Wukong passed another tranquil period.
Suddenly one day, Elder Jin Chan hurriedly came to Wanling Hall.
"Take this."
He handed Sun Wukong a Sound Symbol.
"What is this for?"
Sun Wukong asked.
Elder Jin Chan shook his head, said nothing, and walked out.
While Sun Wukong was slightly confused, the Sound Symbol in his hand suddenly lit up.
"Hey hey, can you hear me?"
Elder Jin Chan's voice came from the Sound Symbol.
"I can hear."
Sun Wukong looked at the Symbol, a suspicion forming in his mind: "Can this symbol only contact me?"
"Yes."
Elder Jin Chan's voice replied: "This is a pair of Sound Symbols; other subjects cannot be specified yet."
"No rush."
Sun Wukong felt delighted in his heart, the Sound Symbol being able to specify targets was progress that pleased him.
"How far can the sound transmission reach?"
He asked again.
"Can only be used in this city."
Elder Jin Chan said.
"So close?"
Sun Wukong frowned slightly.
Although the distance is a bit short, it is still useful.
Sun Wukong randomly asked some questions using the sound symbols, and Elder Jin Chan answered them one by one, the transmitted sound was very clear.
The next day, Sun Wukong called Ao Luan over and showed her a sound symbol.
"Can this sound symbol be mass-produced now?"
Ao Luan, observing the sound symbol, keenly spotted a business opportunity.
Sun Wukong nodded with a smile: "There are only a few hundred pieces produced per day, but selling them in Wanling City should be enough."
"That might not be the case."
Ao Luan's eyes sparkled, "This sound symbol will definitely be very popular."
The recent romantic atmosphere in Wanling City is thriving, and since the sound symbols can transmit voice, many couples would want to buy them.
"Funds are tight recently; we can't sell these cheap."
Ao Luan was already pondering the pricing.
She immediately instructed her staff to start arranging.
After a busy evening, Ao Luan returned to her room, bathed, and looking at the sound symbol on the bed, she suddenly realized something.
"I can talk to my brother at any time now!"
Thinking of this, Ao Luan became instantly happy.
What should I say?
Excited, Ao Luan held the sound symbol while lying on the bed, thinking about what to say.
But after staring at it for a long time, she dared not use it recklessly, worried that her brother might find her annoying if she spoke too much.
"Ah ah ah ah!"
Ao Luan rolled on the bed in distress.
But in the end, she really said nothing.
A few days later, the first Sound Symbol Store in Wanling City opened.
Ao Luan did not promote it much, but Wanling City was not large, and the news still got out.
Early in the morning, the storefront of the Sound Symbol Store was crowded with people.
The person at the very front was the Bear Demon King.
"Heaven is truly aiding me!"
The Bear Demon King thought to himself: "I need to use these sound symbols to cultivate a romantic relationship with Deer Sister and get her to like me sooner."
He saw the doors of the Sound Symbol Store slowly opening and was about to rush in.
"Wait a minute, I am the first!"
An owl suddenly swooped from the eaves and blocked Bear Demon King's way: "Let me in first!"
Seeing him, Bear Demon King stepped aside.
"It's you."
"You go first!"
He should give way to someone even more unfortunate than himself.
The owl flew in happily.
"Boss, give me..."
It suddenly stopped and cocked its head: "Where is the boss?"
There was only a majestic rooster in the store.
"I am the boss."
The rooster answered.
The owl widened its eyes: "When did I last see you?"
"I'm the Star Official from the heavens, Elder Jin Chan went out and disappeared, so I'm filling in for him here temporarily."
The Star Monarch answered.
The owl was enlightened.
"Give me two runes."
It said.
The rooster pecked up the sound symbols and placed them on the table.
"That will be three hundred Talisman Coins."
"Three hundred Talisman Coins!"
The owl shouted: "Who set this price?"
This is the most expensive thing so far in Wanling City, enough to buy a hundred bowls of noodles!
"Miss Ao Luan."
The rooster answered.
The owl, unable to object, obediently paid the money.
