The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 424: Nervous as Home Approaches

Spring season, flowers bloom wildly in Huaguo Mountain.

Sun Wukong sits atop the mountain, listening to Ao Luan's report.

Reforms in the countries across the Four Great Continents are moving forward as planned, and Wanling's technology is becoming widely implemented.

To prepare for the great calamity two hundred years later, all Immortals are participating in the reforms.

"We have never controlled such vast lands with such precision before."

Ao Luan says, "It's a process of exploration."

"How long will it take for the system to stabilize?"

Sun Wukong asks.

"Probably five to six years."

Ao Luan replies, "That's assuming there are no unexpected incidents."

Sun Wukong nods; he is not worried about disturbances, as he holds control over the Three Realms, and no one would dare to cause trouble.

After Ao Luan leaves, a monk approaches Sun Wukong.

"Heavenly Emperor."

The World Venerable bows to him.

Sun Wukong looks at him; he has been wanting to speak with this World Venerable ever since the war ended.

"From which part outside the realms do you come?"

Sun Wukong asks.

"Strictly speaking, I am not from outside the realms."

The World Venerable replies, "Beyond the Thirty-Three Layered Heaven, there is another Asura Realm, originally part of the Three Realms but separated due to the closing of the Three Realms, hanging isolated outside the realms. I come from there."

"Asura Realm."

Sun Wukong slightly frowns, recalling a golden thread in his mind, "Was it originally part of the Three Realms?"

"Yes."

The World Venerable nods, "The Lord of Three Realms is also the Lord of the Asura Realm."

"Asura Realm longs to return; if not that the shackles of the Three Realms still exist."

He pauses, then says, "They might send someone soon to meet you."

"Is the Asura Realm a satellite of the Three Realms?"

Sun Wukong asks.

After asking this, he shakes his head, thinking the concept of 'satellite' wouldn't be known to the World Venerable.

Unexpectedly, the World Venerable nods, "It is a satellite."

His response takes Sun Wukong by surprise.

"Do you know about satellites?"

"Of course."

The World Venerable nods.

Sun Wukong is even more astonished and is about to ask more, but suddenly senses something and flicks his finger.

"Ah ah!"

Miles away, Six-Eared Macaque's ears are nearly deafened.

He covers his ears and falls off the carriage.

"Great King."

A young girl jumps down from the carriage, helping him up from the ground, "What's wrong?"

"I've been discovered."

Six-Eared Macaque, holding his ears, climbs back onto the carriage, "That Heavenly Emperor's snap almost destroyed my ears."

"Great King, there was no need for that."

The girl cheerfully massages his ears, "You didn't help the Heavenly Emperor much during the great war; caution is the best approach."

"I am now his subject."

Six-Eared Macaque says, "He's too petty."

As he complains, he drives the carriage forward.

"It's just eavesdropping. He assigned me this troublesome duty, yet I didn't complain!"

Six-Eared Macaque thought life would get easier after the war, but Sun Wukong ends up constructing a Demon City and assigns him to manage it.

The hatred between humans and demons is not so easily dissolved; for those demons who cannot coexist with humans, Sun Wukong did not exterminate them but instead designated a region for them.

These demons could not consume humans but could maintain independence similar to Daughter Country, as a special region of Wanling Country, with technology and education the same as the outside world.

Sun Wukong hopes that over time, these demons will eventually give up their hatred.

"I'm not a nanny to those demons."

Six-Eared Macaque says.

"Great King will definitely do well."

The girl says.

"I'm not happy at all."

Six-Eared Macaque looks at her, "There are hardly any humans there; aren't you afraid?"

"With the Great King there, I fear nothing."

The girl says.

"You always blurt out extraordinary things without even noticing."

The Six-Eared Macaque sighed, unable to stop recollecting another youth.

"I wonder how he has been."

Upon the deck of a Floating Ship in the East Sea, Ding Huan suddenly sneezed.

"Are you alright?"

White Horse asked by his side: "Is it too cold?"

"No."

Ding Huan stuffed his nose with tissue and picked up the Immortal Mirror to look ahead.

"Wow!"

He exclaimed in awe: "Do you see those Floating Cities? How marvelous, how are they even designed?"

White Horse looked helplessly towards the distance.

There were numerous Floating Cities with auspicious vapors rising, signifying their arrival in the territory of Huaguo Mountain.

"It's so beautiful!"

Ding Huan intensely observed the Floating Cities.

Yet, White Horse noticed countless lights soaring across the sky, heading for Huaguo Mountain.

These were Immortals from various places, coming to pay homage to Huaguo Mountain.

The Heavenly Palace and Lingshan were both under the Heavenly Emperor's dominion, and it was a common scene to see Immortals at Huaguo Mountain.

"We really did it."

Finally, Ding Huan moved the Immortal Mirror away from the Floating Cities to focus on those Immortals.

"What did we do?"

White Horse asked.

"We unified the Three Realms!"

Ding Huan said, it seemed almost like a dream.

"It wasn't you who unified them."

White Horse wanted to bring him down to earth: "And you're no longer going to be the head of the Heavenly Taoist Sect, isn't that regretful?"

"There's nothing regrettable, this is the life I aspire for."

Ding Huan put away the Immortal Mirror and said, "Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad has agreed to take me as his apprentice, teaching me various methods of Artifact Refining, I couldn't be more thrilled!"

"Moreover, from now on, the Heavenly Taoist Sect will no longer exist."

He added.

White Horse was stunned: "The Heavenly Taoist Sect no longer exists?"

"It's disbanded." Ding Huan said: "As the Heavenly Tao spreads, there's no need for the sect, the cadres have all joined other organizations."

"What organizations?"

"Wanling Army."

Ding Huan turned to look at another youth: "He knows more about it than I do."

The youth stood on the deck, seemingly not hearing his voice, his eyes fixated on Huaguo Mountain, his face filled with trepidation and uncertainty.

"What's wrong with him?"

White Horse asked.

"Fear of returning home."

Ding Huan replied.

As soon as he finished speaking, the youth's figure suddenly soared from the ground, brushing past him.

A tear fell from the corner of his eye.

"Is he crying?"

White Horse was shocked.

It was the first time White Horse saw the youth cry.

After two hundred years, the youth could no longer hold back, transforming into a streak of light flying back.

He flew straight to Huaguo Mountain, landed on the ground, then shakily picked up the soil.

"I'm back."

The youth clutched the soil to his chest.

"Welcome back."

A voice spoke.

The youth turned his head and saw Ao Luan standing there.

"It really is you, little one."

Ao Luan smiled: "Welcome home."

"Sister."

Tears threatened to fall from the youth's eyes again.

"I've heard your story from your brother."

Ao Luan walked over with a smile: "I heard it was you who told brother in your childhood that I liked wood, right?"

The youth paused, a bad feeling bubbling up in his heart.
