The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 22: The World Before Reincarnation

Under the gloomy sky, the storm raged, and the wind howled even fiercer.

The flood on the ground did not recede with the death of the Black Dragon; instead, it became even more violent. It surged towards the mountains, engulfing the forests, and the water turned yellow, like muddy water.

Sun Wukong looked at Fu Xi, whose body was enveloped in a crimson light, like a blood-colored deity.

As the red light gradually faded, Fu Xi's eyes were completely scarlet.

Sun Wukong swung his staff, casting a brilliant shadow.

Fu Xi opened his hand, and the shadow of the staff flew into his palm like raindrops, condensing into a small round ball.

"Stronger."

*Sun Wukong thought to himself.*

The Buddha Beads adhered to Fu Xi, making his presence more than a hundred times stronger than the Black Dragon.

But they had not yet fully merged with Fu Xi's power.

Sun Wukong's mind flickered, and his figure appeared beside Fu Xi, fiercely wielding his staff, slamming Fu Xi straight into the sea. His shoulder exploded upon impact.

With a "boom," Fu Xi fell into the seabed.

Sun Wukong looked over, and a roar emerged from the seawater. Fu Xi rose straight out again, his shoulder unscathed.

His body bore red tattoos, and as they flickered, Fu Xi charged directly at Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong swung his staff to clash with him.

"Boom," Fu Xi's right hand collided with the Jingu Bang, his palm gripping the staff.

"Huh?"

Sun Wukong was taken aback. It was the first time since obtaining the Jingu Bang that someone had grasped it with their hand.

Fu Xi's every move gave him an unbeatable feeling.

As Sun Wukong was surprised, Fu Xi's other hand moved.

He clenched his fist and slammed toward Sun Wukong's head with incredible speed, almost hitting it.

Although Sun Wukong dodged, the punch's wind raised a Qi Blade, slicing across his forehead, causing hair to fall.

Sun Wukong withdrew.

"This body is the child of heaven and earth."

Fu Xi spoke with the voice of the Buddha Beads, "He is favored by this land more than you!"

"Deceptive words!"

Sun Wukong's Long Stick hurled towards Fu Xi like a meteor.

Fu Xi did not retreat an inch, meeting the staff's shadow head-on with his flesh, drenched in blood.

However, in an instant, the energy of heaven and earth swarmed towards Fu Xi, healing him completely.

"How could this be?"

Sun Wukong was shocked.

Fu Xi laughed.

"If you want to kill him, you'd oppose heaven and earth."

In the next moment, Sun Wukong felt heaven and earth roaring.

Amid the roar, an invisible force surged, weighing upon him as if a thousand tons pressed onto his body.

Sun Wukong's immortal power stalled, unable to absorb the energy of heaven and earth for a moment.

His expression changed slightly.

The Buddha Beads did not lie; this land protected Fu Xi!

*How could this be possible?*

*There shouldn't be any child of heaven and earth in this world!*

"What have you done?"

Sun Wukong questioned.

"You are destined to fail!"

The Buddha Beads laughed heartily, "Fu Xi has great cause and effect with heaven and earth. Even I can only seal his consciousness, not harm him. How will you fight this body?"

Surrounded by rolling blood clouds, threatening with killing intent, Fu Xi lunged at Sun Wukong, striking with a Giant Palm.

"Boom!"

The two collided, like the crack of thunder.

Sun Wukong and Fu Xi battled, while the sky endlessly poured down storms, wreaking havoc everywhere.

On the ground, the flood surged, the waves intertwined, the wind assaulted, and countless lives struggled and cried in the deluge.

Sun Wukong was eager for victory, clashing with Fu Xi hundreds of times in an instant.

However, every wound he inflicted on Fu Xi was met with the earth's resistance pressing down heavier upon him.

This was an unprecedented phenomenon.

Sun Wukong had never been resisted by this world since arriving here.

Simply for opposing Fu Xi, he was repulsed by heaven and earth.

"So what if you're stronger, this is not the Three Realms."

The Buddha Beads taunted Sun Wukong with a smile, "Even if you defeat Fu Xi, this land won't recognize you. Forget the Heavenly Palace, you won't achieve anything."

Sun Wukong wore a stern expression, continuing the fight.

"Give up struggling!"

The Buddha Beads continued, "This world does not welcome you."

"You... talk too much!"

Seizing a close opportunity, Sun Wukong shattered the blood palm Fu Xi thrust at him, dissipating it into the void.

"Now's the time!"

Sun Wukong's Divine Ring unfolded behind him, using the power of the Heavenly Dao to suppress the opponent.

With a boom, Fu Xi was struck again.

Sun Wukong's aura surged, and countless runes appeared around him.

The countless runes surged madly into the sky, transforming into a Heavenly Net trapping Fu Xi inside.

"Seal!"

Sun Wukong slashed with his hand, and Heavenly Dao's aura flowed, runes glowed brightly, isolating heaven and earth, sealing Fu Xi.

"It's useless."

Unable to break free, Fu Xi said, "You can suppress for a while, but can you suppress for a lifetime?"

Sun Wukong remained silent, Immortal Light surging to the sky.

A golden phantom emerged from his eyes, shooting out in an instant, mesmerizing all who saw it.

"Divine Soul detachment!"

Fu Xi was startled, realizing too late.

Sun Wukong's Divine Soul flew out, instantly entering Fu Xi's body.

"Sun Wukong!"

Fu Xi was shocked.

"You didn't harm him, so he didn't die."

Sun Wukong said.

The Buddha Beads had said too much, revealing a lot of information.

Since Fu Xi wasn't dead, his Divine Soul must still be there. As long as he found him, the Buddha Beads would be the common target of them both.

No matter what other grievances existed, Fu Xi would prioritize reclaiming his body.

"The Pure Land!"

The Buddha Beads transformed into overwhelming waves, within Fu Xi's body, golden light gleamed, energy waves surged. Countless temples and lands appeared, blocking Sun Wukong's path.

"Book of Life and Death!"

Sun Wukong knew it was an Illusion Technique and was not deceived.

He took out the Book of Life and Death, from which a light arose, revealing an arrow pointing east.

Sun Wukong flew eastward.

"Stop!"

An incarnation of the Tathāgata appeared ahead, extending a Giant Palm to press down on Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong raised the Jingu Bang, meeting it head-on.

In an instant, terrifying waves exploded in the Pure Land, the land and temples shattered one by one, and the Pure Land vanished in no time.

In the distance, a light seemed to flicker.

"There!"

Sun Wukong sped towards it.

The Buddha Beads roared in anger, following behind.

The two saw a world enveloped in mist ahead.

Sun Wukong charged in.

The Buddha Beads, however, stopped.

"That place is—"

It gazed at the Mist World, frowning slightly, "Does that memory still remain?"

The Buddha Beads' expression changed several times, wary of a trap, it did not venture in.

As if the space shifted, countless moments of time rolled back. In a blink, Sun Wukong passed through the mist, traversing countless ages, arriving in an unfamiliar world.

His surrounding environment suddenly changed.

"Where is this?"

Sun Wukong looked around, then heard a voice coming from above.

He raised his head.

A beautiful figure flew across the sky.

She wore a crown, unmatched in elegance, her divine light so dazzling that her true appearance was obscured.

"Heavenly Emperor!"

Countless Immortals followed behind her, flying with her to the heavens.

The Heavenly Emperor.

Sun Wukong was stunned.

On a second look, he saw countless beasts descending from the sky, and a blood-colored sea of fire blazing fiercely above the heavens.

This was the great calamity of heaven and earth.

The world before Reincarnation.
