Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 600: Long Kun's Nightmare

Before long, Chu Ge arrived at the fish pond that Chen Jue had told him about.

The clear pond water shimmered under the breeze, with lotus blossoms scattered throughout. The pondside boasted verdant trees, singing insects and birds, and was furnished with high-end fishing stools, reclined chairs with cushions, a small round table for drinks, and two sun umbrellas—an environment that was quite pleasant indeed.

In the large fish pond, spanning several hundred square meters, there were only Chen Jue and four voluptuous, attractive young women at the moment.

Upon hearing the car, Chen Jue stood up from the fishing stool, smiling warmly as he approached Chu Ge, extending his right hand enthusiastically.

From beginning to end, Chen Jue had treated Chu Ge with the utmost courtesy. Chu Ge didn't want to slight him, either. He shook hands with Chen Jue, took a look around, and smiled slightly, saying, "Mr. Chen, you truly know how to live. What leisure, what enjoyment, this place is indeed a paradise on earth!"

Chen Jue chuckled, "Just a small hobby, you're too kind, Mr. Chu."

Chu Ge sat on one of the fishing stools and tested the fishing rod Chen Jue had prepared for him. "Mr. Chen, when it comes to fishing, fewer people is better. Too many people and the fish might get scared off. I'm a beginner at fishing. I don't want to be busy all for nothing."

Catching this hint, Chen Jue quickly waved the four young women away, and soon, only he and Chu Ge were left by the vast fish pond.

These four women were mainly there to serve him and Chu Ge. Since Chu Ge wasn't interested, he certainly didn't have them stay. As for Bao Zhanhai, he had arranged for him to wait in his car long ago.

With the surroundings cleared, talking became much easier. Chu Ge quickly realized Chen Jue's true intentions for inviting him there. As he had suspected, Mr. Chen's words carried a probing tone.

A probing into Long Tao's death, whether it had any connection to him, and what background relations Chu Ge might have.

When it came to the matter of Long Tao, Chu Ge didn't make any explicit statements—neither admitting nor completely denying it. As for his real background, he certainly didn't think Chen Jue needed to know.

Since there wasn't anything urgent to deal with, fishing was quite a nice leisure activity. Chu Ge casually chatted with Chen Jue for a while and fished out a few fish before leisurely bringing up the real reason he came today.

Chen Jue was quite forthcoming, answering Chu Ge's questions in detail and agreeing to his requests outright.

After all, what Chu Ge proposed wasn't difficult for him to handle and wouldn't pose any risk or loss. If he could use this matter to befriend Chu Ge, why not?

Even to this day, Chu Ge remained a mystery to him, but he didn't dare underestimate Chu Ge in the slightest. Instinctively, he believed that Chu Ge was unfathomable!

Thanks to Chen Jue's cooperation, Chu Ge left the fish pond in good spirits. Next, it was time to choose a moment to have a heart-to-heart talk with Long Kun. Who knew what was on Long Kun's mind now?

Chu Ge chose the dead of night when everything was silent. With Chen Jue's men acting as lookouts for him, finding out where Long Kun was staying was no hard task.

After Long Tao died, Long Kun moved back to the villa. With a mix of anxiety, joy, fear, and a little heartbreak, he tossed and turned, struggling to fall asleep at last.

Long Kun had a dream. He first dreamt of a chaos, where his long-departed mother appeared, kindly telling him to take care, before turning her back and walking into the boundless darkness.

Long Kun wanted to pursue her, but the scene before his eyes suddenly changed, turning into this villa and his father Long Tao's room.

Then, he saw a shadowy figure who ended his father's life with a knife. Crimson blood flowed endlessly from Long Tao's neck, spreading on the ground, more and more, a horrifying sight.

From behind the shadow, he watched it all happen, wanting to shout, but no sound came out. His chest felt stifled, making it hard to breathe. He wanted to go and see who the shadow was, but it felt like something kept his legs bound, making it impossible to move.

Finally, under his terrified gaze, the shadow in the dream slowly turned around—it was Chu Ge, holding the dagger stained with crimson blood, smiling slightly at him, revealing sharp white teeth.

Cold sweat drenched Long Kun's forehead as he suddenly awoke from the nightmare.

Yet, he seemed caught in a sleep paralysis; the nightmare didn't end with his awakening.

In his line of sight, a man stood at his bedside. The room was pitch black, making it impossible to see the man's features, only those sharp white teeth just like in the dream, and a silhouette that filled him with overwhelming fear.

That person, of course, was Chu Ge. If Black Arrow could silently enter this villa, taking a life without alerting anyone or leaving any trace, then Chu Ge certainly could too.

However, today Chu Ge wasn't here to kill; he came to have a "heart-to-heart" with Long Kun, not expecting that Long Kun would have such a nightmare. It was a coincidence indeed.

Seeing those sharp white teeth in the darkness, Long Kun's body shuddered violently. Goosebumps rose all over him as cold sweat instantly soaked through his pajama top. His pupils suddenly contracted, and he subconsciously opened his mouth.

However, before he could make any sound, Chu Ge had already picked up the pillowcase beneath his head and stuffed it directly into his mouth, forcing the "ah" that hadn't yet emerged back down his throat.

"If I were you, I wouldn't do something unwise and futile, like trying to scream or attack me. What do you think?"

Chu Ge smiled faintly, reaching out to pat Long Kun's face, not a slap, just a light pat, which was highly humiliating and also exerted a lot of pressure. For Long Kun, who was currently like a frightened bird, the effect was even more pronounced.

"Don't worry, I'm not here to kill you." Chu Ge lifted his hand and waved it in front of Long Kun's terrified eyes. "I didn't even bring gloves, my fingerprints are already on your face. Besides, if I wanted you dead, do you think you would still be alive now?"

After saying this lightly, Chu Ge then pulled the pillowcase out of Long Kun's mouth.

"I'm here to discuss something with you. Don't worry, I mean no harm—at least for now." Chu Ge lit a cigarette unhurriedly. Under the flicker of the flame, his profile leaning to light the cigarette made Long Kun even more terrified.

Long Kun felt Chu Ge's hand on his face, smelled the smoke, and sensed the pounding of his heart. He finally realized he was no longer in a nightmare.

This was all happening in reality, a reality more terrifying than any nightmare.

"Of course, if our conversation makes me unhappy, I can't guarantee that there won't be." Blowing a puff of smoke into Long Kun's face, Chu Ge smiled again. "Do you think I have the ability to kill you before you make a sound and then destroy the body and leave no trace?"

Long Kun said nothing. In fact, he was scared out of his wits, his mind a blank, with only the thought that the Chu Ge before him was akin to a demon.

And as Chu Ge's lips moved, the not-so-loud words made Long Kun's heart tremor significantly and his eardrums buzz.

"Since you're not speaking, I'll assume you agree. So, Mr. Long, shall we get to the point of our conversation?"

Long Kun gulped with difficulty, nodding mechanically and stiffly. Even though it was just a small nod of his head, cold sweat covered his forehead and rolled down his cheeks as if he had just washed his face without drying it.

"Actually, what I need you to do is very simple, as long as..."

Long Kun's cooperation made Chu Ge fairly satisfied, and he calmly stated his demands.

After stating his demands, Chu Ge smiled blandly at Long Kun again and raised his hand to pat his face.

"Long Kun, there's an old saying that you must have heard: there are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests. This applies to many fields. As long as you handle this task well, although I can't consider you a friend for the time being, at least the issues between us can be written off."

"Think about it carefully. If you want to continue to find trouble with me, I'll be ready at any time. But you better consider the price you have to pay. Actually, being able to live is already a kind of happiness, don't you think?"

Having both threatened and enticed him, Chu Ge turned around, with his back to Long Kun, and began to walk towards the window. His steps suddenly halted halfway.

"Your hand is shaking."

Just five short words, spoken in a calm tone, hit Long Kun's ears like a crashing thunder. He simply couldn't comprehend how Chu Ge, with his back turned, could possibly say such a thing, when his movements were silent.

Could it be that... Chu Ge already knows what he's doing?

Impossible! If Chu Ge knew, he wouldn't be so calm!

Long Kun bit his teeth hard, a frenzied look flashing in his eyes, as he fiercely gripped his right wrist with his left hand, trying to steady his hand and stop the intense shaking.

Closer, he was getting closer, and Long Kun's right hand finally felt under the pillow, meeting something cold and solid.

At this moment, Chu Ge emitted a mocking hum from his nostrils, causing Long Kun's fingertips to pause, then retreat, his now slightly-controlled shaking hand beginning to tremble once again, even more violently than before.

But even so, Long Kun stubbornly reached his severely trembling right hand forward once more.

"Do you really think it's wise to risk your life when you're not absolutely sure?"

Chu Ge's voice remained as light and calm as ever, filled with an overwhelming confidence. To Long Kun's ears, however, it was like falling into an ice cellar.

At this moment, he no longer had a shred of doubt: it turned out that... Chu Ge really did know. Beneath his pillow was a dark, cold handgun.
