Urban Immortal Cultivation Supreme

Chapter 985: Hide Quickly

In a short amount of time, the entire city emptied, and El, hovering in the air, finally saw clearly what was stirring up the dense clouds of dust. It was actually a large group of wild beasts, a vast horde of ferocious, fiery beasts. These beasts, seemingly maddened, gathered in a mass and charged towards Yu'an City. There wasn't just one type of beast among them; instead, numerous kinds mingled together, advancing in this direction. Among them were both beasts El had seen before and those he hadn't, but from appearance alone, it was obvious they were carnivorous predators.

"Damn, how can there be such a large beast horde here?" El cursed under his breath, hurriedly descending and briefly explaining what he had seen.

As soon as he finished speaking, both Shu and El's expressions changed. Shu shouted "This is bad" and transformed into a gust of wind, rapidly flying toward a direction outside the city.

El couldn't catch Shu in time. He could only turn back and yell to Babu and the other seven: "Stay here and wait for us to return. Do not wander off." Before the words left his mouth, he transformed into a gust of wind and followed after Shu.

On the ground, Babu and the others watched as Shu and El left, their faces full of confusion. Soon, they heard the loud rumbling sounds from outside, and felt like the ground itself was shaking. Jijek, an expert with the bow, twitched his nose slightly, and carefully sniffed the air. His face changed quickly as he declared, "There are wild beasts, a lot of them." As he spoke, he removed the black bundle from his back, taking out a longbow and black spears. Following Jijek's declaration, Babu and the others also gripped their spears, fully trusting Jijek's judgment as he had never been wrong before.

"Which direction?" Babu asked Jijek quietly, already habitually bending down, ready to find a place to hide for the hunt.

Jijek pointed around, his expression grim, saying: "They're all around." He had never encountered such a situation before; even when the beasts in the mountains rioted, it was never like this.

"The Divine Envoy wants us to hide, should we find a place to hide first?" Jijek knew they couldn't handle so many beasts, especially in a place so different from the mountains where they had no advantage.

"How can we hide? Don't forget, we're the best hunters; what kind of hunter hides from its prey?" Babu growled softly, veins bulging on the hand gripping his spear. He could already hear the beastly roars from afar, high-pitched and violent, like the sound of the fiercest beasts from the mountains.

The ground trembled slightly, due to the beasts running outside. Yet, Babu and the others just stood there, somewhat bewildered. Although Jijek said beasts were coming from all directions, in this unfamiliar environment, they couldn't find a way out, and they didn't have the powers Shu and the others had to fly into the air.

Clenching his teeth, Babu's expression changed as he said, "Let's go this way. Quickly." He randomly picked a direction and sprinted. These men, accustomed to running in the complex mountainous terrain, moved at an astonishing speed on flat ground. Seven figures kicked up a breeze as they swiftly darted down the streets towards the city gate. Not knowing fear, the seven of them, unaware of how terrifying a Beast Tide could be, rashly charged towards the city gate.

They were already close to the city gate, and by following the sounds, they quickly reached it despite the unfamiliar roads. The gate passage, which typically had no doors, now had two iron grilles risen. Standing on either side of the grille inside the city were people wearing standardized uniforms, their focus entirely on the scene outside. On the city wall stood Superpower Users and others in uniform.

Seeing the seven of Babu's group charging out unexpectedly, the people standing by the gate's expression changed. One of them, clearly the leader, shouted sternly, "Why aren't you hiding? What are you doing here?" His voice was loud and clear.

However, Babu and the others didn't understand the local language. When they heard someone speak, they immediately stopped but soon realized they couldn't make out what was being said. As the leader, Babu spoke up, "We're going to hunt beasts." He spoke in his tribal language, the only one he knew.

The leader and his people didn't understand Babu either, but seeing the weapons in their hands, they quickly grasped his intention. Nonetheless, they had never seen anyone wielding cold weapons to battle such a massive beast horde. Even with Superpower Users helping, every Beast Tide attack still resulted in heavy casualties.

"Enough, go back and hide." The leader, sensing Babu and the others weren't Superpower Users, instinctively urged them to retreat.

Babu and the others couldn't understand the words, and as they realized communication was impossible, they abruptly dashed to the city walls. They grabbed the protrusions on the wall and leaped up like geckos, quickly scaling it. Their speed was so swift that the people guarding the walls didn't have time to react. By the time they did, Babu and the others had already flipped over the wall, unleashing low, primal roars as they surged towards the beast horde.

"Idiots!" the person standing by the grille growled quietly, never having seen such reckless or foolish people, daring to charge out as the Beast Tide approached. However, they couldn't possibly open the gate to face the fierce onslaught of the Beast Tide for Babu's group; since they chose a path of death, they could just go and dig their graves. This thought rooted itself in the hearts of these people.

The Beast Tide was advancing towards Yu'an City at a terrifying speed visible to the naked eye, with dust clouds covering half the sky, and the rumble tortured everyone's ears over and over. Some facing a Beast Tide for the first time shook uncontrollably, collapsing onto the ground before the horde even arrived, their nerves almost shattered. The commanders, seeing this, yelled angrily and ordered the terrified ones to be dragged away to avoid demoralizing everyone else.

Babu and his group seemed unaffected by the Beast Tide. The moment their feet hit the soft green grass outside the city, their entire aura changed abruptly, merging seamlessly with the environment. They sprinted forward nimbly, like leopards, each person engaged in different tasks. Some used things on the ground to set traps, some kept watch for the others, and the rest formed a simple formation, searching for suitable hiding places. They were so composed and at ease, as if they were facing ordinary beasts instead of a Beast Tide.

As Babu and his group moved, the Beast Tide closed in.
