Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain

Chapter 207: Spiral XX

They kept walking, and the land around them stayed calm and steady. The sunlight was brighter now, but still soft enough that it didn't feel harsh. The air stayed cool, moving gently past them with every step.

A short distance ahead, they saw a small wooden sign by the side of the road. It wasn't fancy—just a board with a simple mark carved into it. It looked old but cared for.

Fate tilted their head. "What does it mean?"

"Probably just a marker," the Dreamer said. "Someone put it there so travelers know they're on the right road."

Fate touched the sign lightly. "It's simple… but helpful."

"Not everything needs to be big to matter," the Dreamer replied.

They moved on. The road dipped slightly, then rose again, but never enough to make the walk difficult. The land stayed open, wide, and welcoming.

Soon they reached a quiet stream running under a small wooden bridge. The water was clear, moving slowly over smooth stones. Fate stopped at the edge of the bridge and leaned over the railing.

"It's clean," they said, watching the water move.

"Yes. Just flowing at its own pace."

Fate watched the stream for a few moments, listening to the soft sound of water sliding over rocks. It was steady and peaceful.

After a while, they crossed the bridge and continued walking. The air smelled fresher here, touched by the water and the nearby grass.

They passed a few tall plants waving gently in the wind. A small dragonfly landed on one, its wings catching the sunlight for a second before it flew away again.

Fate smiled a little. "Everything just… does what it needs to."

"That's the quiet of this place," the Dreamer said. "Nothing tries to be more than it is."

They walked farther until the road widened slightly. On one side, a few large stones sat in the grass. Fate walked over and placed a hand on one.

"It's warm from the sun," they said.

"Things hold warmth if you let them."

Fate let their hand rest there a moment longer, then stepped back onto the road.

They continued walking, steady and relaxed. Nothing rushed them. Nothing pulled at them. The day simply moved with them—calm, gentle, and peaceful.

After a while, Fate looked ahead and took a deep breath.

"This feels… good," they said.

"It is good," the Dreamer replied. "Sometimes life gives you a quiet road when you need one."

Fate nodded slowly. "I think I'm starting to believe that."

And together, they kept walking—simple steps on a simple path—letting the calm day unfold naturally, one soft moment at a time.

They walked on, and the road stayed easy beneath their feet. The sun was now high enough to brighten everything, but the warmth still felt gentle. The breeze moved through the grass with a steady, soft sound.

A little ahead, they saw a small cart parked beside the road. It wasn't broken or abandoned—just resting. A man sat on the cart's edge, eating a piece of bread while his horse stood calmly nearby, nibbling at the grass.

The man looked up as Fate and the Dreamer approached. He gave a small, friendly nod.

"Morning," he said simply.

"Morning," Fate replied.

The man didn't ask where they were going or why they were walking. He didn't seem curious in a demanding way—just polite. After a moment, he went back to eating, letting them pass without interruption.

Fate glanced back once. "He didn't try to stop us."

"He didn't need to," the Dreamer said. "Some people understand quiet days too."

They continued along the road. A gentle slope took them upward until they reached a point where they could see more of the land. Small farms, patches of green, and distant hills filled the horizon.

Fate stared at the view for a bit. "It feels… calm out there too."

"It is," the Dreamer said. "Calm is bigger than just one place."

They walked down the slope again. A few birds flew overhead, moving as a small group. Their shadows crossed the path, quick and smooth.

Fate watched them. "They look peaceful."

"They're just living their day," the Dreamer said. "Same as us."

Soon they reached a stretch of road where tall grass grew on both sides. The wind moved through it, creating a soft, steady sound. Fate brushed a hand across the top of the grass as they passed.

"It feels nice," they murmured.

"It's simple," the Dreamer replied. "Simple can be good."

Eventually, they saw a small wooden bench by the road. It wasn't new, but it looked stable. Fate walked over and sat down, taking a short rest. The Dreamer sat beside them.

For a few moments, they said nothing. They just listened to the wind and watched the road ahead.

Then Fate spoke quietly. "I don't feel tired. I just… wanted to sit for a moment."

"That's allowed," the Dreamer said. "You can rest even when you're not worn out."

Fate nodded, letting that settle. After a little while, they stood up again.

"Okay," they said softly. "I'm ready."

And with the same calm steps as before, they continued forward—unrushed, steady, letting the peaceful day guide them toward whatever came next.

They walked forward again, keeping the same easy pace. The road stayed clear, and the sky above remained bright and gentle. Nothing pushed them. Nothing hurried them.

A little farther ahead, they noticed a few sheep grazing in a fenced field. The animals looked relaxed, moving slowly as they ate. A small dog lay nearby, watching them but not barking or running.

Fate paused for a moment. "They look peaceful too."

"They are," the Dreamer said. "This is a quiet place."

One of the sheep lifted its head, looked at them for a second, then went back to grazing. Fate gave a small smile at that simple reaction before starting to walk again.

Soon they came across a well by the side of the road. The stones around it were smooth and old, and the wooden bucket hung neatly from a rope. There was no one around, just the soft sound of wind passing through the opening.

Fate leaned slightly closer. "It feels cool here."

"Wells hold calm," the Dreamer replied.

They didn't take any water—there was no need. They just stood near it for a short moment, then continued on their way.

As they walked, the road widened a little. The grass on both sides grew shorter, and the breeze carried the faint scent of earth and sunlight. A few insects hovered nearby, drifting lazily from one spot to another.

Fate watched them float around. "Everything moves slowly here."

"That's why it feels safe," the Dreamer said. "Nothing tries to rush you."

They walked a bit more until they reached a place where the road split into two paths. One went straight ahead, still open and wide. The other curved gently to the right, leading toward a small line of trees.

Fate looked between the two paths. "Which way should we go?"
