The City's Strongest Son-in-law

Chapter 746: Chen Qingqing was Caught

In the Purgatory, Ye Qingtian hadn't experienced the changes brought by the four seasons for a long time. Therefore, even the biting cold wind seemed like something worth experiencing to him.

"Old Master Ye," Zhu Lie said respectfully upon entering the balcony.

Ye Qingtian nodded and casually said, "Once winter passes, spring should come, right?"

Zhu Lie couldn't quite grasp the meaning behind Ye Qingtian's words. Once winter passes, what else could follow but spring? Hence, he dared not respond carelessly, lest he misunderstood Ye Qingtian's intentions.

In fact, there was no hidden meaning behind Ye Qingtian's words. It was just that he hadn't felt the change of seasons for such a long time that he could barely remember what spring felt like.

"Sit," Ye Qingtian said.

How could Zhu Lie dare to sit? To him, Ye Qingtian was an idol he couldn't bring himself to sit alongside.

Instead of insisting Zhu Lie take a seat, Ye Qingtian asked, "What brings you here?"

"We've captured Liu Lili's daughter and wanted to ask you how to handle her," Zhu Lie said. Chen Qingqing had been captured and was now held in Charming. In the past, Zhu Lie would have handled it himself, but with Ye Qingtian present in Jiang City, the matter needed his decision.

"Let her go," Ye Qingtian replied.

"Let her go?" Zhu Lie said in shock. Liu Lili had taken Ye Nianhai, which in his eyes was a death sentence. Even though matters in the underworld shouldn't involve family, this situation with Su Changfeng was different and didn't require such rationale.

"This matter has nothing to do with Liu Lili, and her daughter probably doesn't know anything about it," Ye Qingtian stated. Given Liu Lili's status before she disappeared, she couldn't have been in contact with Shangguan Xuanjie, nor would Shangguan Xuanjie have collaborated with her.

"Do you already have some information, Old Master?" Zhu Lie couldn't help but ask.

There was no information, but Ye Qingtian had reason to suspect that Sun Mei was likely behind the whole affair, though he couldn't find any concrete evidence.

It was merely a speculation without evidence, so Ye Qingtian didn't plan on telling Zhu Lie: "You go take care of your matters first. From now on, you don't need to worry about this situation. Apart from Changfeng himself, nobody can help him now."

Zhu Lie sighed helplessly. What Ye Qingtian said was true, and Zhu Lie had seen it coming, though he was reluctant to admit it and didn't want to be left idle.

No matter what, Zhu Lie wanted to do something. Sitting idle only added to the guilt he felt inside.

"I understand you feel guilty toward Changfeng, but some things are beyond your control, so there's no need for self-blame," Ye Qingtian continued.

"Is there really no way to help Changfeng?" Zhu Lie asked bitterly.

"If there were, do you think I'd be sitting here?" Ye Qingtian said with a wry smile. If there were any way to help Su Changfeng, Ye Qingtian wouldn't stand idly by.

But in the current situation, there was indeed no possibility. Ye Qingtian understood the power of the Shangguan Family. If he were to forcibly intervene, it would only cause more trouble for Su Changfeng.

Hearing Ye Qingtian's words, Zhu Lie felt drained and lowered his head.

"Old Master Ye, since that's the case, I'll take my leave." Zhu Lie said.

After Zhu Lie left, Huo Tian said to Ye Qingtian, "Zhu Lie is loyal to Changfeng, but unfortunately, his abilities aren't enough. Otherwise, he could be a great help to Su Changfeng."

"Zhu Lie is a person of deep loyalty; such people are rare in today's society. But ability is not something that can be forced," Ye Qingtian said.

"Indeed," Huo Tian replied with helplessness. He could once train Su Changfeng, but now, Su Changfeng's abilities had surpassed his own. He couldn't provide any help to Su Changfeng, let alone someone like Zhu Lie.

Zhu Lie's movement downstairs caught Tang Qiulu's attention. When Tang Qiulu saw Zhu Lie, she instinctively stood up and approached him.

"Brother Lie, did you capture Aunt Liu's child?" Tang Qiulu asked.

Zhu Lie nonchalantly glanced at Ji Hong, noticing she showed no unusual behavior, then replied, "She is in Charming now, but I didn't bother her. I just want to ask if she knows about Liu Lili's whereabouts."

"Let her come here," Tang Qiulu said.

"Why?" Zhu Lie asked puzzled.

"I trust Aunt Liu's character. She definitely wouldn't do such a thing. Even if she disappeared with Ye Nianhai, she must have been taken away. We need help at home, so let her come to the villa," Tang Qiulu said.

Tang Qiulu never believed Liu Lili would betray Su Changfeng and disappear with Ye Nianhai. She knew Liu Lili's character and was certain Liu Lili wouldn't do such a thing.

"Are you worried that Chen Qingqing will be implicated because of this matter?" Zhu Lie said helplessly. The situation had already reached such a point, yet Tang Qiulu still worried about outsiders' safety.

"No matter what, we are responsible for this, and her mother got involved because of it," Tang Qiulu said.

"Sister-in-law, being kind-hearted is truly good, but sometimes too much kindness doesn't yield good results," Zhu Lie cautioned.

"Being a good person will one day be recognized by God," Tang Qiulu said.

Zhu Lie nodded without further insistence and said, "Alright, I'll have them bring Chen Qingqing to the villa."

When Chen Qingqing entered the Mountain Villa, it was the first time she realized her mother had lived in such an opulent house and truly understood the extent of Su Changfeng's wealth.

Tang Qiulu introduced herself to Chen Qingqing and mentioned how Liu Lili and Ye Nianhai had disappeared together.

Chen Qingqing didn't make excuses for Liu Lili but said she believed Liu Lili wouldn't do something to betray Su Changfeng.

"I also believe your mom wouldn't do such a thing. If you don't feel wronged, you can help with some chores here. It would also make your situation a bit safer," Tang Qiulu said.

"Thank you, Sister Qiulu," Chen Qingqing nodded, feeling incredibly grateful to Tang Qiulu, understanding she was looking out for her.
