The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 586: The New Fire King City

According to Asa's description, the Supreme Will should be a corrupted and fallen Ancient God.

It's truly unbelievable to think that killing a fallen Ancient God could end the Black Fog polluting the world.

The most crucial point is that there is no inevitable link between purifying the higher Spirit Realm and killing a fallen Ancient God.

In the higher Spirit Realm, besides the Ancient Gods, there are also Old Dominators, Corrupt Kings, Black Fog Demons, and so on.

Only by eradicating all these terrifying entities can we gain control over the higher Spirit Realm, thereby achieving the final victory.

The Book of Knowledge has clearly told him this is the only path to see the light again and the very purpose of the Dream Realm's existence.

Since eliminating the first Black Fog Symbiont triggered feedback from the Black Fog Source, Rod clearly felt that what the Dream Realm was facing was not merely a singular target, but the entire world's rejection.

This is a world already deeply entrenched in corruption and pollution, instinctively rejecting and annihilating all threats to its existence.

It is hard to imagine that merely killing an Ancient God would secure the final victory.

Rod fell into deep thought.

The Book of Knowledge could not possibly be wrong.

Though its reliability in battle is questionable, it has never erred in knowledge and decision-making.

Asa's words are the ones most worth suspecting.

Much of the content about the Supreme Will is merely his conjecture.

Lastly, there is the Source Prophecy.

This is the most difficult part to judge.

Such a significant expenditure on the Source Prophecy should not likely be wrong.

But misinterpreting or misjudging the prophecy is a common human error.

How should we correctly understand the Source Prophecy?

Rod pondered for a while and decided to first hear the opinions of the Book of Knowledge and the doll.

He silently returned to the Dream Realm and relayed the entire content of the prophecy to the Book of Knowledge and the doll without omission.

"Book, Aphro, what do you think?"

The Book of Knowledge slowly turned its pages, with the mist of the soul body swirling rapidly between them, indicating its high-speed thought process.

"Master."

After a moment, it spoke.

"If I understand correctly, the foundation of the prophecy should be the intuition triggered by the prophet, and all our analysis should extend from the intuition he triggered."

"In my memory, humanity has faced great crises many times, even nearing extinction, with the most horrific disasters even causing Epoch shifts."

"If we interpret it this way, then what that human prophet saw might be the catastrophe that completely ends the Dark Epoch."

"After this catastrophe, it is very likely we will enter an epoch of deep darkness without fire, deathly silence shrouding the land, all living things falling into eternal darkness, and the world silently annihilating over long spans of time."

Rod was struck by a cold chill and clenched his fists, asking solemnly, "If that's the case, why would the slim chance of survival be found among the Ancient Gods? They failed eons ago, devoured by Black Fog, corrupted and fallen into monsters. Can we find a method for victory from their failures?"

The Book of Knowledge pondered and said, "There might be some secret hidden among the Ancient Gods, capable of resisting catastrophe, mass extinction, and great terror...."

Rod furrowed his brow, "Then why didn't they use it themselves?"

"That... there could be many reasons, only by truly finding the Ancient God's secret can we be sure."

"What about Royeger?"

"I don't have that name in my memory... The memories I have restored are all knowledge-based. To recover faster from a fragmented state, my soul won't retain too much useless memory. I only have vague impressions of past experiences, so this name shouldn't be forbidden knowledge, but a moniker for a powerful being."

The doll suddenly said, "Master, if the disaster the prophecy refers to is the great terror that annihilates everything, then the slim chance within it might be the method to destroy the Black Fog and shatter the darkness, and searching for the Ancient Gods and Royeger might be different answers to the same question."

"If that's the case, then Royeger is a special Ancient God."

Rod's brow furrowed. The doll's words made a lot of sense, and he suddenly realized:

The Ancient Gods might not be powerless against the Black Fog, but perhaps due to some special reasons, they fell short of success.

For example, the Supreme Will that created the Ancient Evil Thought.

Thus, finding that "opportunity" and completing what the Ancient Gods left unfinished is not an impossible task.

"However."

The doll offered a new perspective.

"If the prophecy's disaster is merely a common occurrence in the long river of history, then the so-called Ancient God's secret is merely a method to evade the disaster."

"Hence, Royeger would be the key to achieving the final victory, not any one Ancient God but related to some existence tied to the higher Spirit Realm."

Rod nodded, fully understanding the doll's words.

The answers derived from the Source Prophecy only have these two possible explanations.

And the information provided by Asa can only serve as a supplement.

He glanced at the doll's unrealistically beautiful face and its doll-like articulation, the contrast giving it a strange beauty.

"Aphro's thinking is quite sharp,"

A fleeting thought crossed Rod's mind, but he didn't dwell on it and asked, "Will there be changes to our next course of action?"
