Liszt deduced that at least an attack with Spiritual Energy at level 15 would be needed to leave a mark on the pyramid.
Rod gazed up at the pyramid's summit, which stood at least three hundred yards high, its apex shrouded in dense Black Fog.
"This thing reminds me of the Star Chart in Starry Sky City..."
Liszt was intrigued and asked, "Are you saying it's some kind of Divine Artifact? Was the Black Fog Wall formed because of it?"
"It's possible."
Rod looked around; the twentieth floor was very plain, featuring only an enormous space. Except for the pyramid, everything was engulfed in darkness, with heavier Black Fog drifting around them.
Using the Eye of the Soul, he quickly bypassed the Black Fog and found the exit of the floor.
It was an intimidatingly large staircase, at least a hundred yards wide, with each step twenty yards high, totaling seventy steps.
Atop the stairs was a giant door two hundred yards tall.
No matter how one looked at it, it wasn't meant for humans.
"Should we go up one more level?" Rod asked, "To see the Hall of the God."
"No!"
Liszt shook his head firmly.
"We don't need to go to that cursed place. I'm almost certain this pyramid is related to the Black Fog Wall. Once we find a way to operate it, we can shut down the Black Fog Wall, and then we should swiftly leave here. Exploring the Ancient City isn't our current task; finding the Fire King City is."
Rod didn't insist either; at this time, safety was paramount, and risks were unwise.
He would explore those dangerous areas once he became a Commander.
Hence, they turned their attention back to the pyramid.
After a more detailed inspection, they found several blocks on the pyramid's body that were loose.
Upon removing them, a Stone Gate appeared before them.
Liszt took a deep breath, "The secret is right in front of us, let's be careful..."
Number 19 gently pushed, and with a rumbling sound, the Stone Gate opened.
"No lock, and no sealing..."
Boom!
The entire pyramid shook.
Liszt suddenly looked up, seeing the dense Black Fog at the pyramid's tip rapidly descending.
It appeared as if the Black Fog Wall was sinking into the Divine Tower.
"Damn! We've triggered the mechanism!"
Boom!
Another thunderous rumble.
In the distance.
The giant door atop the massive stairs suddenly burst open.
An enormous shadow emerged from behind the door, approximately seventy yards tall, resembling a decayed, bloated Giant corpse, draped in grey armor, radiating overpowering Spiritual Power Waves.
"Level 15 Spiritual Energy!" Liszt exclaimed.
"It's the Great Demon God!" Rod recognized it instantly.
This was the strongest Black Fog Symbiont encountered in Starry Sky City, formed by the polluted soul fragments of an unknown Ancient Demon God in the Black Fog, possessing extremely high Spiritual Energy Strength and depth, tough to kill.
"The Third Derivation of Black Fog is also descending, we can't possibly defeat a Fifth Tier monster in this environment, retreat quickly!"
The five of them immediately turned and fled.
But the Great Demon God had already caught up, its speed much faster in the Black Fog than it was back in Starry Sky City.
Back then, there were three King Candidates, an Archbishop, four Special Level Combatants, over a hundred of the strongest and most elite warriors, and they were fully prepared.
Even with the brilliance of Strong Fire, various protections, and spiritual energy enhancements, the battle was exceptionally challenging, nearly ending in disaster.
Now, they had nothing.
Fighting the Great Demon God wrapped in Black Fog, victory was impossible.
Yet Rod still faced it.
"I'll hold it off, you all leave here first!"
Liszt hesitated only for a moment; countless bloody examples reminded him that any hesitation now would only lead to greater losses.
With his combat power, he would only hinder Rod's battle.
The four buried their heads and sprinted madly toward the exit of the twentieth floor.
Rod immediately activated the Giant God Power; the Red War God descended upon his body once more.
Boom!
Rod collided head-on with the Great Demon God.
The tremendous impact instantly penetrated his Spiritual Energy, as if his soul was struck by a great mountain.
Yet the Red War God still blocked the Great Demon God, with the two giants locked in battle, their Spiritual Energy clashing, creating waves of energy surges.
Space trembled, countless dust particles fell, adding a touch of grey to the blackness.
The Black Fog soon engulfed them; the Red Tear Stone couldn't resist the corrosion, humanity diminishing rapidly, Rod feeling his soul greatly oppressed, as if mired in a swamp, his Spiritual Energy unbearably heavy.
Meanwhile, the strength of the Great Demon God surged rapidly. Initially, the Red War God's Spiritual Energy was inferior to the Great Demon God's, and now the gap widened even further. The battle quickly became one-sided; Rod couldn't withstand the Great Demon God's attacks, with numerous damages appearing on the Red War God's body.
Bang!
With another Heavy Strike, one of the Red War God's arms was broken.
But at this moment, Liszt and the others had also escaped the twentieth floor, and Rod breathed a sigh of relief. The passage at the entrance to the twentieth floor was very small; the Great Demon God wouldn't tear down the Divine Tower, would it?
But how could he escape? Would he have to die once?
10 points of Divinity were very precious, and creating a Resurrection Stone also required other materials.
Just then, the puppet spoke.
"Master, I'll control the Red War God, you quickly leave here."
