Return to the City: The Strongest King

Chapter 1509: Godly Radiance Envelops

"Pfft!"

Song Xiaodong's spear directly pierced the tough skin of the giant serpent, stabbing into its body. The spear made of refined steel was unmatched by ordinary weapons here.

The giant serpent's head had a skull, which was why it was too tough to penetrate, but its body had no bones.

Song Xiaodong didn't use full force this time. He swiftly retracted his spear, sprang back, and changed position to evade the serpent's attack, thrusting his spear forward again.

Recently, with his enhanced strength, Song Xiaodong hadn't fully exerted himself in any confrontation, and the True Qi inside his body hadn't completely synchronized with his movements.

Now being pressured by the giant serpent, he had no choice but to unleash all his power. The True Qi in his body circulated rapidly, coordinating with his muscles to execute the most extreme movements.

Initially, Song Xiaodong felt that the synchronization was not perfect, with the True Qi seeming too strong and his muscles not yet adapted, causing his movements to lag slightly.

However, after battling the serpent for a few minutes, he felt the synchronization of True Qi and muscles improving, his movements becoming smooth as if flowing like water.

At this point, his speed was almost equal to the serpent's, no longer being driven to the brink without a chance to land.

The giant serpent was massive, and though Song Xiaodong's spear penetrated its flesh, it couldn't reach its vital points. Nevertheless, each thrust caused the serpent significant pain.

This only intensified the serpent's ferocity, launching frenzied attacks at Song Xiaodong.

Yet, Song Xiaodong was completely immersed in the harmonious feeling of True Qi and muscle alignment. The more aggressive the serpent's attacks, the more they honed his skills, so much so that he didn't want the serpent to relent. Its madness suited him perfectly.

In front of the giant serpent, Song Xiaodong appeared minuscule, yet this tiny human was locked in an epic struggle with the colossal beast.

The soldiers who had fled earlier now gathered on the hill, watching the scene below with the group of girls.

Initially, everyone watched with their hearts in their throats, but as time went on and they saw Song Xiaodong evade bites and repeatedly wound the serpent, it became clear the serpent's attacks were becoming erratic.

This eased everyone's worries, turning into an entranced admiration, with the soldiers viewing Song Xiaodong as a Heavenly God.

The girls, on the other hand, had stars in their eyes; the hero below was their beloved, a matter of great pride.

After about twenty minutes, the giant serpent finally showed signs of fatigue. Given its massive size, the energy it consumed in such attacks was enormous, and as a cold-blooded creature, it couldn't sustain such activity for long.

Thus, the serpent ceased its attack on Song Xiaodong, lowering its head and, ignoring his attacks, began to slither away rapidly.

Its path was directed toward the hill. With its massive body, it was only a matter of minutes before it would reach the top.

Song Xiaodong was greatly alarmed; he feared no serpent, but the others were not as resilient.

Quickly, he thrust wildly at the serpent, but it ignored him, continuing its swift charge up the hill.

"Run quickly!" Song Xiaodong shouted, but he knew full well that they couldn't outrun the serpent, his cry was merely instinctual.

On the hill, panic ensued as everyone realized that there was a cliff at the back, leaving only the direction of the advancing serpent as a viable route down.

"We can't run behind!" He Lingzhi shouted.

Song Xiaodong's heart sank, and he quickly yelled, "Don't be afraid, I'll stop it."

Thrusting his spear into the ground, Song Xiaodong used it as a pole, leaping into the air above the serpent's head, thrusting his spear fiercely toward its eye.

The serpent's most vulnerable spots were its abdomen and eyes. Song Xiaodong had learned this before, but the serpent never gave him a chance to attack its belly. Now, the only place to inflict serious harm was its eyes.

The serpent evidently knew the vulnerability of its eyes, dodging immediately so that Song Xiaodong's spear missed its mark by a narrow margin.

He continued to thrust at the serpent, yet each attempt was skillfully dodged. This instinctive evasion was as swift as that of a supreme master.

Seeing the serpent getting closer to the people on the hill, Song Xiaodong was more anxious, though he forced himself to remain calm.

Knowing he was their only hope, he had to figure out a solution.

This was the moment where Song Xiaodong's strong mentality shone through, as he came up with a plan under such pressure.

Leaping once more above the serpent's head, Song Xiaodong held back from thrusting his spear this time.

The serpent's eyes were fixed on Song Xiaodong's spear, ready to dodge at a moment's notice. When he refrained from attacking, it made no evasive move.

However, Song Xiaodong had more than just his spear as a weapon.
