The King of Urban Mercenaries

Chapter 912: Blocked

"But, young lady, he truly loves you very, very much. I can see that. So, I believe you can feel it too. Try to open your heart to him, young lady. Sometimes lowering your head won't lead to ridicule but rather to unexpected rewards."

Open her heart to Lin Fei?

Mu Shanshan never considered it. She always interacted with Lin Fei in this way, never showing her love even if she felt it, constantly suppressing herself, believing she should maintain a cool image.

But perhaps Aunt Fang is right; in front of the person one loves, there's no need to pretend.

If two people love each other, is it unnecessary?

Mu Shanshan's gaze turned towards the kitchen.

As if guided by an indescribable force, Mu Shanshan slowly stood up and walked towards the kitchen.

"Young lady, you can do it!"

Aunt Fang encouraged from behind.

At the kitchen door, Mu Shanshan heard the sounds of Lin Fei moving around inside.

She reached out, slowly pushing the door open.

"What are you doing?"

Lin Fei was somewhat surprised to see Mu Shanshan standing at the kitchen entrance.

Mu Shanshan, too, found herself at a loss upon seeing Lin Fei.

The two of them awkwardly stared at each other.

It was Lin Fei who eventually spoke up first.

"What's wrong? Are you hungry? Wait a bit; it'll be ready soon."

Mu Shanshan was taken aback by his question and then stammered.

"No, I'm not really hungry. I just wanted to see if I could help you with anything."

"You don't need to help, just wait outside."

After speaking, Lin Fei picked up a carrot and started washing it at the sink.

Mu Shanshan said nothing, but she didn't want to leave. She stood silently behind Lin Fei, watching his every move.

After a while, seeing Lin Fei finish washing the carrot and head to the cutting board beside her, Mu Shanshan, as if steeling her resolve, suddenly spoke.

"Lin Fei, actually I..."

"Oh, by the way, honey, I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I was out of line. Don't be mad anymore; forgive me."

Lin Fei turned around and suddenly smiled at Mu Shanshan.

While cooking, Lin Fei had been thinking about the argument earlier. He realized he had some responsibility; knowing Mu Shanshan is proud, he still questioned her relentlessly. He felt his actions were inappropriate and decided to apologize to maintain harmony.

Surprised by Lin Fei's apology, Mu Shanshan felt quite pleased inside but pretended to be indifferent, looking around.

"Oh, okay. Actually, I wasn't entirely right either."

Lin Fei chuckled. For Mu Shanshan, he was willing to bear the blame and grievance, just to see her smile.

The two of them, with tacit understanding, concluded their earlier argument with that statement.

The atmosphere in the kitchen relaxed noticeably. Lin Fei, turning to continue cooking, told Mu Shanshan to wait outside.

"Alright, honey, go outside and wait to taste my cooking."

Mu Shanshan, who had finally calmed down, was instantly displeased at being shooed away by Lin Fei. Though she had never stepped foot in the kitchen before, she wanted to prove that she, Mu Shanshan, could do well.

Mu Shanshan picked up the carrot Lin Fei had placed on the board.

"I said I want to help. It's just cutting vegetables, right? How hard can it be?"

Saying this, Mu Shanshan picked up the kitchen knife.

Seeing Mu Shanshan's determination, Lin Fei stepped aside, watching with interest.

Mu Shanshan confidently chopped down with the knife, feeling quite pleased, and before long, she had finished cutting a carrot.

"How is it?"

Mu Shanshan asked Lin Fei. Lin Fei looked at the uneven and irregular carrot pieces on the board and couldn't help but think it was indeed a mistake to trust Mu Shanshan.

"Uh, honey, let me do it."

Mu Shanshan seemed to say, not satisfied?

Lin Fei's eyes responded, yes, that's right.
