Mystic Overlord: Reading Gives Strength

Chapter 795: Kidnapping

What kind of eerie things can Waterfall City come up with?

The thought might be a bit impolite.

But Ronald, while flying through the air, genuinely felt this way.

You must know, he had only been in Entrod for less than two months!

To have such chaos in such a short period, the customs of this place were truly as rustic as La Laye described!

"..."

"Hmm?"

Ronald flew at no slow pace.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the origin of the explosion sound, naturally seeing the current situation in the city.

At the southwest of Waterfall City, unabashed Magic Fluctuations surged toward the surrounding streets, and the buildings at the core were still covered in scorch marks.

Very evidently a mysterious side conflict.

Instinctively labeling this incident in his mind, Ronald's interest waned.

If it was merely conflicts arising among local Casters, he certainly won't bother to intervene without reason.

But just before he departed.

Ronald's keen eyesight allowed him to notice something.

Among the brawling crowd below were Casters affiliated with the Entrod intelligence agency, a few cult Magicians joining in the fray, and some local Casters whose origins were unidentifiable.

Ronald had, after all, activated the power of 'Fury'.

So in this chaotic battlefield, he discovered individuals engaged in combat with completely inhuman presence.

What does this signify?

Essentially non-human crossworld creatures?

Or mixed-breed humans native to Entrod?

Since he encountered such a unique incident, it seemed appropriate to go down and take a look.

Whoosh—

Confirming his perception was accurate, Ronald angled his figure and dashed to the ground.

In the instant when everyone in the skirmish was attacking each other, he dismantled all the spells within the field through sheer physical means.

He shattered attacking spells with a punch, collected all objects used for assaults into his hands, and even the environment-altering incantations were crushed through brute force impact.

"..."

"Who are you?!"

Of course, some combatants were shocked by the scene before them, though their specific reactions differed widely.

Casters from the Entrod intelligence agency, upon noticing Ronald's face, immediately understood everything and swiftly opted to turn away to support their companions on other small battlefields.

Civilians among them found it difficult to discern the truth upon seeing the agents leave, merely forming protective groups in self-defense.

Only a sole cult Magician in the field.

Upon seeing Ronald's appearance, he came running toward him joyfully, without even wiping the blood on his clothes.

"Ah ah ah!"

"Isn't this our forever friend Mr. Ronald?"

"You also sensed the gathering here and came to visit!"

"..."

At an instant, Ronald considered punching the cult Magician before him.

But, constrained by the chaos in front of him, he suppressed his thoughts for the moment, speaking in a rather normal tone:

"I only came to see because I heard the commotion."

"Do you know what happened here? Best tell me from a normal person's perspective."

The cult Magician exhibited a surprisingly good attitude toward Ronald.

Although his face betrayed some reluctance, considering it was Ronald's request, he made an effort to respond restrainingly:

"From a normal person's perspective...it's really just a minor incident."

"By a stroke of luck today, our sect was preaching here, the rebels were infiltrating, Entrod's agents were searching, and crossworld creatures just happened to nest here."

"Then two sides casually sparked minor disputes, eventually dragging others in."

"And it resulted in this chaotic state."

After explaining, the cult Magician pondered for a moment, then added seriously:

"Of course, members of our sect are all good citizens."

"It was solely due to their excessive actions that we passively got involved!"

"..."

Ronald closely scrutinized the cult Magician before him.

Judging by the flushed, excited expression of the man, he felt the latter part of his explanation lacked credibility.

Nevertheless...

He did, after all, explain the situation to him.

"Alright, you go and mind your own business first."

"I'll talk to them here, you needn't linger any longer."

The cult Magician's demeanor remained cooperative.

Upon hearing Ronald's response, he nodded while heading toward the exit:

"Wish you and Sedir live happily and your career straight and smooth!"

"..."

Ronald widened his eyes watching the cult Magician leave.

How was he deserving, being equated with Sedir, a thoroughly orthodox cult Magician?

Ronald pondered for quite some time but couldn't change his line of thought.

Finally, he sighed and turned his attention to the group who hadn't left.

"Everyone, I don't intend to make things difficult for you."

"But among you there is a rather peculiar individual I wish to speak with privately."

This remaining group was not like the cult Magicians or agents.

Not only were their attires varied, but some even showed distinct regional differences in physique and appearance, among which the Casters' spell styles differed immensely, clearly indicating a random assortment.

Yet, this was precisely the kind of people.

Facing Ronald, an overbearing adversary in sheer force, they showed no sign of compromise.

The leader even boldly stepped forward:

"You damned warlord's lapdog, don't think you can make us submit through brute force!"

"The people of Entrod will surely overthrow your evil rule; the true masters of this land are us!"

"..."

Ronald paused momentarily.

He knew the rebels were likely present here, but he wasn't Entrod's subordinate!

"It seems we have a misunderstanding."

"You're aware of recent summoned creature invasions, right? I discovered…"

"Do you think we are easy to fool!" Ronald's explanation had no effect, as the rebel leader decisively interrupted saying, "Don't think we don't know this is merely Entrod's plot to crush our uprising!"

"I tell you, such intrigue and trickery are useless against us!"

"..."

At this point, Ronald found himself increasingly flummoxed.

Given their attitude, his explanations were bound to be ineffective.

And in such a situation, the most efficient choice was to cut the matter short quickly.

With that thought in mind, Ronald waved his hand, instantly pulling the non-human presence within the rebel group close with mighty spell power.

"Release him!"

"What are you doing!"

Naturally, the remaining rebels reacted vehemently, yet they couldn't match Ronald's departure speed.

"If I truly were your enemy, none of you would escape."

Before leaving, Ronald still left them with one remark:

"My matters…"

"You can ask Sedir when back, just tell them I'm Ronald."
