Old Man Feng poured tea for Yang Fei, his tone extremely indifferent.
"In fact, the so-called Sacred Object is nothing but a notion."
"A group of Elders has exalted it to the heavens, but in my view, it's worthless."
"If this thing can really heal your internal injuries, then it would indeed be put to good use."
Yang Fei forced a smile.
"If only the Elders of Xuan Ying Pavilion thought like Uncle did."
"Unfortunately, not only are they overbearing, but they have also taken my friend Xiao Xuanya as a hostage, demanding that I hand over the Sacred Object."
Old Man Feng nodded, "That's why I asked you to come here."
He said and stood up, signaling Yang Fei and Feng Cai'er.
"You two, come with me!"
Yang Fei and Feng Cai'er exchanged glances.
Old Man Feng got up and walked away, so the two had no choice but to follow him.
The old man led Yang Fei and Feng Cai'er to the second floor of the left wing.
On the second floor, there was a shrine, but inside the shrine was a painting.
The scroll was yellowed and darkened.
But it was faintly visible that the painting depicted five old men in robes.
Two of the old men even had braided hair.
In front of the shrine, the incense burner was filled with incense ash, still holding some unburned incense.
There were two meditation cushions on the floor.
Yang Fei looked unsure and Feng Cai'er was also puzzled.
She nervously said, "Dad, what are you doing?"
The old man took nine incense sticks, lit them, and handed them to Yang Fei and Feng Cai'er.
"This is the portrait of the founder of Xuan Ying Pavilion. All under Xuan Ying Pavilion must offer it."
"Mr. Yang, please pay your respects as well."
Yang Fei looked at the five elders in the portrait.
Thinking of the noble and heroic deeds of these predecessors for the country and the people, a feeling of reverence naturally arose.
He took the incense from the old man, knelt on the cushion, respectfully bowed three times, and then inserted the incense.
Feng Cai'er also bowed three times, and finally, the old man bowed and inserted the incense.
He said in a loud voice, "Ancestor Master above."
"Now, disciple Feng Baiqiang, in order to resolve disputes in the martial arts world, specifically uses the Phoenix Order."
"It will be returned immediately after use, please grant your blessing, Ancestor Master."
After finishing, the old man bowed three more loud bows, then stood up.
Yang Fei was startled, "The Phoenix Order, what is that?"
The old man pressed some sort of mechanism.
From beneath the painting in the shrine, a small wooden compartment popped open.
From inside the compartment, the old man took out a bronze box.
The surface of the box was inlaid with gold and jade, looking extremely luxurious.
Yang Fei was full of surprise and glanced at Feng Cai'er.
She, too, had her eyes wide open, seemingly clueless.
The old man opened the box and took out an object.
The object resembled a token but was the size of a palm.
The object, made of some metallic material, was purple with golden hues, beautifully curved and sinuous.
The shape of the entire token was like a phoenix feather.
Feng Cai'er cheered and rushed over, taking the Phoenix Order from the old man's hand.
"Dad, to think our family has such a beautiful treasure."
The old man didn't stop Feng Cai'er, looking at her affectionately.
"This Phoenix Order has been passed down through generations of our Feng family."
"It was originally intended to be passed to you after your marriage when you had children, but now is as good a time as any."
"Dad, what are you talking about? Yang Fei is still here."
Feng Cai'er was deeply embarrassed, almost dropping the Phoenix Order on the floor.
The old man laughed heartily, turned around, and looked at Yang Fei.
"This Phoenix Order is a Sacred Object of Xuan Ying Pavilion."
"Our Ancestor Master Feng was also one of the founding patriarchs of Xuan Ying Pavilion."
"As a descendant of Old Ancestor Feng, I possess this Phoenix Order," he declared with utmost seriousness.
"The holder of the Phoenix Order has a very noble status within the Xuan Ying Pavilion," he continued.
"In principle, they can command any disciple of the Xuan Ying Pavilion."
"I am aware of your dispute with the Xuan Ying Pavilion, so I am handing this Phoenix Order to you," he said.
"With the Phoenix Order, you can go to the Xuan Ying Pavilion, clarify the misunderstanding with the elders, and avoid a Mortal World conflict," he explained.
Yang Fei was taken aback.
"This Phoenix Order has such a significant origin; I dare not accept it," he said.
"Hmph, I thought you were a sensible man, how can you be so confused now?" the old man scoffed and sighed.
"I am lending the Phoenix Order to you not just to help you, but also to aid several elders of the Xuan Ying Pavilion," he added.
At this point, the old man shook his head.
"To be honest, I sense an unusually fierce aura about you," he said.
"In your attempt to rescue someone, it is inevitable that you might clash with the elders of the Xuan Ying Pavilion; it would be a pity to harm someone of your talent," he remarked.
"And a few of the Great Elders of the Xuan Ying Pavilion might not come out unscathed," he added.
"In modern civilized society, killing someone will undoubtedly lead to prison. Why should both sides suffer such damage?" he lamented.
His face bore a bitter expression.
"Also, I must ask you, if you do fight when you go to the Xuan Ying Pavilion, please be merciful and preserve the century-long Vital Energy of my Xuan Ying Pavilion," he requested.
Feng Cai'er looked worriedly at her father and quickly steadied him.
She glared at Yang Fei.
"Dad, don't worry; if he dares to hurt anyone, I won't let him off," she said.
Old Man Feng gave a wry smile.
"To defeat Wu Wei and Kong Erhu within three months, to subdue Li Shun, and to defeat the Great Owl of the Golden Buddha in a direct confrontation," he stated.
"How could such a person listen to a woman's words? Cai'er, you are too naive," he said.
Yang Fei was utterly shocked.
Despite Old Man Feng not showing off, he knew more about the affairs of the Underworld than anyone.
Feng Cai'er looked bewildered.
"I've heard of Wu Wei and Kong Erhu, they are dead," she said.
"Who is Golden Buddha? Is he a monk?" she asked.
Yang Fei and Old Man Feng exchanged a bitter smile.
Feng Cai'er was not a part of the Underworld; her world was extremely simple.
After weighing the pros and cons, Yang Fei finally accepted Old Man Feng's Phoenix Order.
He said respectfully, "Thank you, uncle, for your kindness. I will listen to you."
"This time at the Xuan Ying Pavilion, I will only rescue people, not fight," he promised.
The old man nodded.
"That's good. I have a hidden injury and will not accompany you to the Xuan Ying Pavilion," he said.
"I will have Cai'er accompany you; she is my daughter and also a descendant of Ancestor Master Feng," he explained.
"I hope the Council of Elders of the Xuan Ying Pavilion will show leniency."
Feng Cai'er frowned.
"Dad, you didn't ask for my opinion," she protested.
Old Man Feng turned around, his smile benevolent and meaningful.
"Don't you want to go?" he asked.
Feng Cai'er, reading the wise look in her father's eyes, felt as though her little secrets and thoughts were completely exposed.
She felt a rush of anxiety.
"I... since I'm not busy, I should go to keep an eye on Yang Fei to prevent him from causing trouble," she said.
Old Man Feng smiled faintly: "That's right."
Feng Cai'er, sensing her father's all-knowing gaze, felt uncomfortable.
Suddenly inspired, she said, "I'll go to the kitchen to help mom with cooking; you guys chat."
With that, she fled the room.
Once outside, Feng Cai'er's heart pounded chaotically, yet the thought of travelling far with Yang Fei brought sweetness to her heart.
Old Man Feng sighed, watching Feng Cai'er's retreating figure and shook his head.
Downstairs, Feng Cai'er called out, "Dad, Yang Fei, it's time to eat."
