This peak was extremely steep, resembling a pen holder.
Over a hundred yards of cliff, the rock face was smooth and slippery.
Only in the crevices did stubborn shrubs manage to grow.
From here, it looked utterly unclimbable.
Above them, only a lonely two or three stars twinkled in the sky.
Yang Fei took a sharp intake of cool air.
"Could they really be planning to climb up from here?"
Indeed, the skinny man, Brother Hao, came to a halt.
"The peak is where the Martial God Ruins are located," he announced.
"The front mountain has been sealed off, the only way up is for us to climb here."
The group, viewing the perilous peak, all seemed to shrink back a bit.
A man in an Adidas sports shirt stared blankly at the peak.
"Brother Hao, this is too dangerous, how can we possibly climb it?"
Brother Hao chuckled, an indescribable pride in his laugh.
"I've already planned for this, it's definitely dangerous."
"But besides this method, we have no other choice."
As he spoke, he surveyed the other four people, his tone indifferent.
"Fortune favours the bold, as long as we can get the True Meaning of Martial God artifact, we'll receive the ten million promised by the Banner Master."
"Once we're rich, houses and cars will all be ours."
When he mentioned the ten million prize, the spirits of the others visibly lifted.
"Alright, I'll follow Brother Hao's lead, what should we do?"
The Adidas man gritted his teeth, making up his mind.
The rest expressed their willingness as well.
Brother Hao hummed affirmatively, then suddenly put two fingers in his mouth.
His throat emitted a very strange cooing sound.
The sound was peculiar and, amidst the darkness, sounded rather eerie.
Feng Cai'er couldn't help but tighten her grip on Yang Fei's arm, leaning closer to him, somewhat scared.
The cooing from Brother Hao's throat seemed to be calling some animal.
Everyone looked at him in bewildered suspicion.
Soon enough, a troop of monkeys burst out from the dense forest in the valley.
The monkeys appeared quite familiar with Brother Hao.
A particularly large monkey, along with three or four other monkeys, affectionately clung to Brother Hao, tugging at his clothes.
Several braver monkeys were already eagerly rifling through his pockets.
Everyone watched this unbelievable scene with wide eyes.
Yang Fei and Feng Cai'er also stared at Brother Hao in astonishment.
Yang Fei had already guessed Brother Hao's method, but Feng Cai'er remained clueless.
Brother Hao's throat stopped making the cooing sounds.
He then pulled out several sugar cubes from his pocket and threw them to the monkeys.
No sooner had the sugar cubes landed than the monkeys became excited.
They scrambled and fought over them joyfully.
Yang Fei suddenly smelled something peculiar.
He took a deep breath, staring at the sugar cubes in the monkeys' mouths and frowned.
The other four people looked at one another, puzzled.
Brother Hao then removed a denim backpack, producing a long coil of climbing rope.
He tied the rope around the large monkey's waist.
Next, Brother Hao pulled out a packet of sugar, holding it under the large monkey's nose.
The monkey's eyes turned blood-red, and it cried out urgently.
Just as the monkey stretched out its paws to grab the sugar,
Brother Hao skillfully avoided the monkey's paws.
All the monkeys watched greedily as Brother Hao held the sugar cubes, drool dripping from their mouths, restless and anxious.
Brother Hao successfully captured the monkeys' attention with the sugar cubes.
Then, he threw the sugar cubes towards the peak with force.
The large monkey let out a sharp scream and, combining running and climbing, started to ascend towards the peak.
The other monkeys also swarmed up, climbing towards the extremely steep peak.
Around the neck of each monkey hung a long rope.
As the largest monkey climbed higher and higher, the loops of hemp rope were also lifted above the cliff.
This daunting cliff was completely unclimbable for humans.
However, it couldn't stop this group of wall-scaling monkeys.
Faced with an exceedingly steep slope that they couldn't climb, the monkeys would pull on each other's forearms, swinging up like on a swing.
Once a monkey reached the top, it would dangle its long arms down and pull up its peers one by one.
In the steep cliffs, any crack in the rock or occasionally grown shrub,
became a leverage point for this group of monkeys.
The four people watched this miraculous scene, all with their mouths wide open in amazement.
Brother Hao watched the monkeys climb higher and marveled as he revealed a pack of candies from behind him.
Adi was very surprised by this pack of candies.
"I thought you really threw the candies to the top of the peak. I didn't expect them to still be in Brother Hao's hands," he said.
Brother Hao rolled his eyes.
"How could I possibly throw them to the top of such a high peak?" he retorted.
"But no matter, these monkeys are stupid enough, they'll definitely take the rope to the peak."
Saying this, he chuckled smugly, immensely pleased with himself.
"Once the monkeys reach the peak, we'll pull the rope," he planned.
"The monkeys, afraid of falling, will inevitably wrap the rope around a stable tree trunk or rock."
"Then, we'll climb the hemp rope up to the forbidden ground."
All four patted Brother Hao's back and praised his clever strategy.
Yang Fei snorted contemptuously.
Feng Cai'er looked at Brother Hao admiringly and whispered in Yang Fei's ear.
"This guy is really clever, coming up with such a method; impressive," she admired.
Yang Fei snorted again.
"Feeding monkeys with drugs and then exploiting the animals is just cruel, not clever," he critiqued.
Feng Cai'er was startled, "Are you saying those candy blocks contain drugs?"
Yang Fei snorted again, "What else? Why else would those monkeys be so obedient?"
Feng Cai'er, realizing what he meant, looked at him with a dawning understanding.
"I see, this guy feeds the monkeys with drugs,"
"Then gets them addicted and lures them up the mountain with those candy blocks. But how did you know the candies contained drugs?"
Yang Fei sniffed, "I'm very sensitive to the smell of this thing; I knew it the moment I smelled it."
"Plus, look at how the monkeys eat the candy—utterly intoxicating, drooling all over the place," he observed.
"Doesn't look like the way a normal monkey eats food," he remarked.
Feng Cai'er, convinced by Yang Fei's analysis, rolled her eyes at him.
"You really are a monster. Other people miss the secrets that are plain to see, but you spot the subtleties in everything," she said.
As they whispered, the group of monkeys had already climbed up to the peak.
Brother Hao began pulling the hemp rope.
He used a strange method: he pulled it hard, then let go, and then pulled hard again.
Suddenly, the monkeys at the peak squealed anxiously, sounding extremely alarmed.
Just like that, Brother Hao maintained a rhythm of pulling and releasing for over ten minutes.
Suddenly, he pulled hard but could no longer move it, and a thrilled feeling overcame him.
"Good, the monkeys have wrapped the rope around something, I just don't know how secure it is," he said.
He exerted all his strength and yanked the rope fiercely.
Then, he threw his whole body onto the rope and swung several times.
After realizing that the rope remained perfectly still, Brother Hao turned back.
"Alright, who's going up first?" he asked.
"We agreed, the first person to climb to the peak gets an extra million in bonus money," he reminded them.
The four hesitated.
The person going up first faced the greatest danger.
Yet the million-dollar bonus was indeed very tempting.
After a long moment, a short individual gritted his teeth and stepped forward: "I'll go first."
