Out of the Saber-Toothed Tiger SUV's cab climbed a soldier dressed in the national defense green uniform.
The soldier charged to the front of Yi Liu's car.
His eyes widened in anger.
"How do you drive? Don't you slow down when turning?"
Yi Liu looked at the cars lined up behind him, the Yi Family's tracking vehicles.
He muttered, "Such bad luck, there's no escaping now."
Yi Liu's voice wasn't loud, but somehow the soldier heard him.
The soldier's eyes grew even bigger.
"What, you're thinking of running?"
"Do you realize our battalion commander is still in the car? Get out of there!"
The soldier's temper exploded, and he advanced to grab Yi Liu by the collar.
Yi Liu raised his hands immediately.
"Okay, okay, I'm getting out, comrade, you see it wasn't intentional."
Just as Yi Liu and the soldier were having their dispute,
a silver Bentley slowly pulled up behind the Yi Family's bodyguard convoy.
Inside the Bentley, Feng Ziyan sat in the passenger seat wearing sunglasses.
Yi Jun'an, however, sat in the back of the car, looking dejected.
Feng Ziyan was surprised to see the dispute ahead.
"Why is Yi Liu arguing with a soldier?"
She took out a pair of binoculars, took one look, and began to smile.
"How interesting, the foolish boy Yi Liu has hit a military vehicle; no wonder he obediently stopped."
"What, Yi Liu hit a military vehicle?"
Yi Jun'an started to panic and took out his own binoculars to look ahead.
He took one look and was startled.
"This isn't good, Saber-Toothed Tiger SUVs are only available for military officers above the battalion level, Yi Liu is in big trouble."
He opened the car door, ready to rush out.
Feng Ziyan yelled sharply, "You sit tight!"
Yi Jun'an, startled, didn't dare to move, "Now what?"
Feng Ziyan, disappointed like one might be with an underperforming metal, jabbed her finger against Yi Jun'an's head.
"What excuse will you have if you go down there now?"
"Will you say we're trying to kill Su Yinxue, and that Yi Liu fled, so that's why his car hit the Sabretooth Tiger?"
Yi Jun'an had no response, and after a while muttered resentfully,
"Yi Liu is my son after all, am I supposed to let the military take him away?"
Feng Ziyan scoffed.
"Yi Liu, that kid, doesn't realize how grave his situation is; it might be for the best to teach him a lesson."
"The military is a place that abides by the law and reasons things out. Even if Yi Liu gets taken away, this kind of civil dispute won't be a big issue, at most it will end with compensation."
As she spoke, Feng Ziyan's teeth ground audibly.
"The key issue now is dealing with that bitch Su Yinxue."
"The old man is gravely ill, and her coming back at this time, she's surely up to no good. We must be cautious."
Yi Jun'an's wits and eloquence were no match for Feng Ziyan's.
He was completely overshadowed in every respect by this formidable woman.
Yi Jun'an was anxious to take care of Su Yinxue but was utterly powerless to do so.
Feng Ziyan sneered, looking ahead, her tone casual,
"Let's just wait and see. It'd be best if that clueless hotel odd-job man caused a conflict with the soldiers."
"If he gets arrested, we'll have the perfect opportunity to deal with Su Yinxue."
Yi Jun'an kept observing Yi Liu and the soldier through his binoculars.
Right then, Yang Fei suddenly got out of the car, looking furious.
Yi Jun'an was startled.
But he saw Yang Fei push the soldier aside and shield Yi Liu behind him.
Feng Ziyan also saw this through her binoculars, and her heart leaped with joy.
"That blockhead dares to clash with a soldier; he clearly doesn't know what death looks like!"
Turns out the soldier, fearful that Yi Liu would slip away, had pulled him out of the car and wouldn't let go.
No matter how much Yi Liu tried to explain, the stubborn young soldier would not release his grip.
Yang Fei, angry from inside the car, got out and pushed the soldier away.
"Comrade, let's be reasonable, don't resort to violence."
The soldier's face turned a bright red, and his voice rose an octave.
"Who's resorting to violence? Tell me, who is it?"
Yang Fei's expression turned frosty, and so did his tone.
"Have you memorized the Three Main Rules of Discipline and the Eight Points for Attention? Is this how you speak to civilians?"
Upon hearing this fellow actually begin to lecture him, the soldier felt even more indignant.
He rolled up his sleeves.
"You hit our battalion commander's car, and you still think you're in the right? This is outrageous…"
Just then, the rear door of the Saber-Toothed Tiger SUV suddenly opened.
A resolute-faced, burly soldier charged out.
He pushed the soldier aside and stood ramrod straight in front of Yang Fei.
Then, the burly soldier crisply saluted Yang Fei, making a loud slap sound.
"Greetings, officer, Li Dabiao from the Special Operations Battalion of the 358th Regiment of the 125th Division of the Northern Military Region salutes you!"
This action left not only the soldier stunned.
Yi Liu was speechless, and Su Yinxue's eyes widened.
Everyone stared blankly at this battalion-level officer named Shi Dabiao.
Not far away, Feen Ziyan was as if stricken by Thunder Strike, her gaze blank.
"A military officer saluting this young man? What's going on?"
Yi Jun'an's mouth fell open, and he stared in disbelief.
Yang Fei squinted his eyes and, following military etiquette, returned Shi Dabiao's salute.
After the two completed their salutes, Yang Fei managed a wry smile.
"Brother, forgive me, but I really can't recall where we've met before. When did we see each other?"
Shi Dabiao's explosive and bullish frame stood as if it were made of granite, straight as an arrow.
"Reporting to the officer, last year's military exercises of the A Army."
"At the invitation of the commander, you gave a jungle warfare class to the officers above company level of the A Army."
"That class left a deep impression on me."
Yang Fei remembered and uttered an 'oh'.
"I see, that class had over two hundred military officers attending, no wonder I don't remember you."
He patted Shi Dabiao on the shoulder.
"Lad, it's evident you've trained well; this is how a soldier should behave."
Shi Dabiao brought his heels together and saluted with his hand, "Thank you for the praise, sir."
Noticing the seven or eight vehicles behind the Land Rover surrounding Yang Fei's Land Rover with a hint of hostility, Shi Dabiao couldn't help but feel puzzled.
"Sir, are you in some kind of trouble?"
Yang Fei let out a playful curse.
"What trouble could I have? I'm just sorry for damaging your car."
Shi Dabiao didn't mind at all and waved his hand dismissively.
"No big deal, it can be fixed when we get back to the base."
With that, he pointed at the soldier and let out a laugh.
"It's just this kid's poor attitude; I'll make sure to train him properly when we get back."
Yang Fei laughed heartily, "In that case, I'll thank you first."
"I'm busy today; we'll have a proper drink another day."
They were men of the military, hearty and straightforward, and a minor disagreement was easily resolved.
Shi Dabiao was aware that Yang Fei was no ordinary figure.
He saluted Yang Fei and then kicked the soldier.
"You ill-mannered fellow, haven't you apologized to the officer yet?"
The soldier had not expected the young man, exuding a civilian air, to be a military officer.
His mouth hung open, and it took him a while to run over and salute Yang Fei.
"Sir, I was rash just now, I apologize."
Yang Fei nodded at him, his words loaded with meaning.
"Comrade, in the future when speaking with civilians, you need to consider your approach."
The soldier stood tall and answered loudly, "Yes, sir."
Yang Fei nodded to Shi Dabiao, "Goodbye."
Shi Dabiao crisply saluted again, standing at attention, "Goodbye, sir."
