Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas

Chapter 153: Decisive Battle (Part 1)

Ye Qing and the others showed a hint of joy as they watched everyone return safely.

Sun Ming quickly strode forward, looking everyone over and seeing that Chu Chen and the others were unharmed, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's good that you're back safely. Quickly report to Director Ye about what happened in the passage just now," Sun Ming said with a smile.

Chu Chen felt a bit speechless at this order, grateful that he didn't have to personally handle such things.

Wang Lu was exceptionally outgoing and was perfect for handling such matters.

He replied to Sun Ming and then hurried over to Ye Qing.

"Director Ye, we just in the passage..."

Moments later, Wang Lu recounted the entire process, of course exaggerating some parts, especially when mentioning himself, always cool and decisive, praising how formidable his Guardian Beast was.

Ye Qing was no fool, and the Elite Class being the school's priority, the school leaders naturally paid close attention, and they were very aware of the class situation.

The reason he didn't expose him was because Li Lang was present; he couldn't tarnish the school's reputation.

He pretended to pat Wang Lu on the shoulder, smiling and praising, "Very good, worthy of being our school's student."

Li Lang watched the scene before him, inwardly amused, "I'm not here to witness your teacher-student bond, but that Chu Chen does seem like a talent."

Seeing Wang Lu didn't mention the Undead Star Beast, Li Lang couldn't help but ask, "Student, did you see an Undead Star Beast?"

Wang Lu nodded in response, "I saw it."

Li Lang immediately asked, "And you're alright?"

Wang Lu shook his head, "We're alright."

Li Lang showed a surprised expression, as that Star Beast was heavily wounded by him; it was a Lord Level Star Beast, not something these students could handle.

"Where did that Star Beast go?"

"It's dead."

"What? Dead? How is that possible? Who killed it?" Li Lang asked in shock.

Wang Lu, looking excited, narrated the event.

"What? A special Starburst Bomb?"

Ye Qing quickly pulled him aside to whisper something.

Moments later, Li Lang gave Zhang Yuyan a deep look, then bowed slightly to the group, "Since the hidden threat is resolved, I won't stay longer. I need to return and defend the city." With that, he turned with the City Defense Army and left.

Zhang Yuyan's true identity was known to only a few people in Celestial Star City; even Ye Qing had only been slightly hinted at by Chen Haoxiang.

After seeing Li Lang and others off, Ye Qing said a few words to encourage everyone, then shifted topics to assign tasks.

"Teacher Sun, you lead the students to collect the spoils here. We will return to school to maintain order. There are too many people gathered, and I'm afraid of any mishaps."

"I understand, Director Ye. You can rest assured leaving this to me," Sun Ming replied with a smile.

After Ye Qing and the others left, the students showed bitter expressions.

Everyone knew they were being used as free labor this time.

Sun Ming noticed their thoughts and immediately scolded, "Why the long faces? Collecting these spoils will ultimately benefit you."

The group was momentarily stunned and directed their gazes towards Sun Ming.

After the beast tide, there would only be half a year left until the college entrance exams. If you want to stay in Celestial Star City your entire life, don't mind what I said.

But if you want to see the world outside, you must diligently cultivate, and the school will go all out to supply you with resources.

As for the support from the City Lord's Mansion and associations, it might stop after the beast tide as they've exhausted their resources.

Hearing this, the group nodded thoughtfully, their mood visibly gloomier.

Sun Ming added, "However, rest assured that with these combat spoils, your cultivation resources will not be short."

Under Sun Ming's encouragement, everyone's enthusiasm was successfully aroused, and they worked with extraordinary vigor, after all, they were earning cultivation resources for themselves.

Meanwhile, outside the city, the battle had reached a fever pitch.

Both sides had suffered casualties of around fifty percent.

Numerically, the human side was still at a disadvantage, but compared to the beginning, humans now had some advantages.

As time passed, this advantage would only grow.

At this moment, the Beast King's gaze was not on the battlefield but was fixed intently on the movements of those on the city walls.

The Ghost Shadow Soul had been gone for a long time, and based on its strength, it should have entered the city by now.

By its nature, it should be enjoying those pure souls by now.

The city should be in chaos, yet there was no movement from the city walls. Could the mission have failed?

With this thought, the Beast King felt inexplicably irritated. It had waited so long for this opportunity; if it failed, who knew if there would be another chance, and it had nearly exhausted its resources this time. If it failed, it wouldn't be able to account to those above, and it might well be the end of its reign as Beast King.

The Beast King let out a low roar to the black giant bird in mid-air, seemingly assigning a task.

Upon hearing the roar, the black giant bird flapped its wings and departed.

A quarter of an hour later, the black giant bird returned, letting out a series of cries as if conveying information.

Moments later, the Beast King let out a furious roar, causing the Star Beasts around it to shudder in fear as they looked at it.

After venting, the Beast King suppressed its anger.

It roared once more, and the Star Beasts around it rose to their feet.

They let out a howl towards Celestial Star City and then swiftly charged towards it.

On the city walls, Wang Haichuan stared solemnly at the distant Beast King, now without the shadows of other Star Beasts at its side.

Wang Haichuan knew the true battle had arrived. He turned to Ye Feiyang and said, "Go."

Ye Feiyang nodded solemnly, then turned to the people around him, "This concerns the survival of Celestial Star City, so I'm counting on all of you."

Those who stood by Wang Haichuan's side were naturally not ordinary individuals: the principal and vice-principal of the Five Great Daoist Schools, the heads of the three major families, and the strongest combatants from various forces.

The total count was about a hundred, with ninety percent at the Great Soul Master Level, and their Guardian Beasts were all at the Lord Level, while the remaining ten were Soul Master Level Beast Masters, and their Guardian Beasts were Monarch Level.

These people represented the strongest combat power in Celestial Star City.

They all shouted in unison, "We owe it to protect Celestial Star City," and began summoning their Guardian Beasts.

Ye Feiyang nodded gratefully and decisively summoned his Guardian Beast as well.

His Guardian Beast was a golden giant eagle. He leapt onto the eagle's back and led the charge over the city wall.

The others followed closely behind.

When Ye Feiyang reached the center of the battlefield, he ordered the combatants still fighting below to retreat.

Staying there would make them vulnerable to the forthcoming battle, so withdrawal was the best choice.
