Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 220: Conspiracy

Among the beastmen within the Kawa Great Forest, there exists a legend.

According to the legend, many years ago on the Seta Continent, there was an incredibly powerful Beastman Empire, ruling over the vast continent, at a time when the beastmen were the masters of the entire continent, with the pure-blooded beastmen at the high levels almost dominating everything on the continent.

Later, for reasons unknown, the mighty empire suddenly collapsed, and eventually, its remnants fled from the center of the Seta Continent, escaping to the remote Kawa Great Forest in the south, a Barbaric Zone.

Among the beastmen, there has always been a rumor that the noble pure-bloods did not leave and vanish into the endless barbaric lands; instead, they established the Beastman Royal Court somewhere in the core inner domain, continuing the glory of that incredibly powerful empire.

Of course, a rumor is just a rumor.

In fact, for the low-level beastmen living on the outskirts of the Kawa Great Forest, with their capabilities, they simply cannot traverse the thousands of miles of dangerous terrain to reach the core area to verify whether the rumor is true.

Perhaps, in the hearts of many beastmen, the royal court in the legend is merely a yearning and yearning for a better life amid their difficult living conditions.

However, the lower beastmen are unaware, but those at the true top know much more.

The reason they can have enough resources to support a population of hundreds of thousands is only because of the support from those behind them.

Otherwise, ever since the establishment of the Iron Wall Great Wall at the Bloody Border, the beastman tribes have found it increasingly difficult to raid the human world to obtain large amounts of food supplies. If relying solely on themselves, without a sufficient food source, such a large tribe scale would have long since disintegrated.

As the strategist of the Blood Claw Tribe, Rulga is very clear about the position of these peripheral tribes.

Strong puppets to withstand the humans' buffer zone.

And now, for the so-called pure-bloods above them, these tribes have lost their usefulness.

If Rulga's words were heard by Austin, a storm might surge within his heart.

The existence of the so-called Beastman Empire and pure-blood beastmen, Austin has also heard from the Fox-faced Man Quik.

Later, from the notes obtained at the relic left by that Gold Level Great Mage, Austin learned that the Gold Level Great Mage initially intended to head to the Kawa Great Forest to search for the remnants of the former Beastman Empire and find those remaining pure-blood beastmen.

However, that Gold Level Great Mage searched within the Kawa Great Forest for years but still found nothing.

But now, in Rulga's words, the Beastman Royal Court truly exists and rules the core inner domain, with food supplies supporting those enormous top-tier tribes in the outskirts. How could this not astonish Austin?

Was it that the pure-bloods hadn't established the royal court hundreds of years ago, or had the royal court been long established but even the Gold Level Great Mage couldn't find any traces?

"Gross..."

Seeing Gross's reaction seemingly incredulous about the Beastman Royal Court, Rulga was speechless yet understanding.

As the first warrior of the Blood Claw Tribe, Gross might have the qualifications to know these things, but he probably wouldn't specifically go to understand them, and thus, his reaction wasn't surprising to Rulga.

"If you're interested in knowing more specifics about the Beastman Royal Court, go ask the chief yourself."

Gross thought for a moment, finding it troublesome, shook his head, and said in a muffled voice:

"Forget it, the royal court is the royal court, what does it have to do with me? Just hurry up and explain why you suddenly agreed to let me kill that Blue Young Dragon. If there's no reasonable explanation, don't think about using me."

"It's not really using. Haven't you always held a grudge against your brother Grom's death? This time, it's just letting you take revenge. Of course, this matter counts as a good thing for the Blood Claw Tribe."

Gross, being rash and stubborn, wouldn't turn back once he's set his mind on something, so Rulga had no choice but to explain in detail.

"The so-called mutated evil spirit is merely an excuse from the royal court. Do they really think everyone is a fool?"

"Those so-called pure-bloods are implementing a grand plan through those undead creatures. We don't know exactly what that plan is, but we can be sure that we've become a part of it... Ever since they started concealing the truth, we've been reduced to sacrifices, becoming nourishment for those things...."

As he talked about it, a flash of resentment crossed Rulga's eyes, and he continued:

"The reason we began the great migration, formed the Tribe Alliance, and attacked the Bloody Great Wall was all just to find a way to survive. At that time, I stopped you from attacking that Young Dragon because we couldn't afford to provoke other enemies under such circumstances."

"But now, we've reached an agreement with humans. If those humans don't want to face those undead armies directly, they can only strongly support us for resistance. And more importantly, those undead creatures have already spread to the area where that Young Dragon is."

"Gross, what do you think the prideful Giant Dragon Race would do if a Young Dragon died at the hands of those undead and became one of them?"

Gross pondered, his voice low like thunder:

"That Blue Young Dragon is supposedly an orphan dragon without parental care, but with the pride of the Giant Dragon Race, seeing their race's offspring becoming undead for battle, they certainly wouldn't hesitate to use thunderous means."

"That's right. The Dragon Race is a Legendary race, becoming Legendary upon maturity. If they take action, regardless of the reason, those big figures who've waited so long will definitely get involved, competing for the rich fruit..."

Rulga spoke in a quiet voice, seemingly with implications.

"After all, the fruit is ripe... and it can be picked..."

"But if found out, wouldn't I be in trouble too?"

Gross's voice was low, pondering something.

"Heh, as long as all the witnesses are dead and that dragon indeed becomes an undead creature, what does it have to do with us? After all, it's merely a Silver Level Young Dragon. During the Undead Calamity, even Gold Level magic beasts have died before. Don't you think so, Gross?"

Rulga spoke quietly, with a tone full of indifference.

After successive wars, the Beastman Alliance's high command is also aware of the characteristics of those mutated undead, resurrection upon death being one of them.

Even High Tier magic beasts of Gold Level will be infected and revived after death.

And this trait allowed Rulga to discover the space for manipulation within it.
