Arlene was waiting outside the door.
She asked excitedly, "What did they say to you?"
"Nothing much."
"How can it be nothing? They must have wanted something, looking for you like that. I'm your superior; you should at least tell me!"
Reluctantly, Jiang Chen turned back and said, "They told me to become an [Apostle]."
"I knew it had to be something good when they sought you out! From now on, we'll be the same."
"You're an [Apostle] too?"
"Of course."
"Can just anyone become an [Apostle]?"
Arlene said, displeased, "What do you mean by that? Are you looking down on me?"
"No."
"Yes, you are!" Arlene retorted. "I could tell from how you just spoke. You clearly look down on me!"
After returning to his residence, Jiang Chen pondered deeply. The Dark Witch... a powerful profession.
「Meanwhile, within the Dark Battle Camp」
The Son of God, Gresham, wore a terribly grim expression. This latest battle had cost the lives of over a hundred thousand Dark Warriors; more than seventy thousand of them had died from injuries inflicted by a single person.
Gresham looked at the Dark Witch Annie beside him and asked, "Is there any way to deal with this man?"
"Do you want to kill him, or recruit him?"
"If it's about killing him, that's easy to handle. I just need to infiltrate their camp, find a chance to obtain some of his hair or skin, and then I can use a curse spell to make him lose his combat abilities."
"Recruiting him would be more troublesome. I need to understand what kind of person he is and whether there's a chance to persuade him to join our side. After all, he managed to evade your attack; he is very strong."
Annie offered two plans.
Gresham pondered for a moment. "If he joins our camp, he will lose his combat power; his Badge will become invalid."
"I'm aware of that. He isn't a Super Divine-level Class but an ordinary Class user. His Class is likely Swordsman, with Sword Qi similar to that of The Fallen."
"We also have the Dark Swordsman Class on our side. We just need to give him a new Badge."
"Recruit him."
Annie nodded. Recruiting Jiang Chen meant they had to make him violate the rules of the Alliance of All-Gods. If he could no longer stay there, he would have no choice but to come to the Dark Battle Camp.
"However, you need to be careful. The opposition has a formidable [Cataclysm] from the Elf Race. She has likely discovered your identity. If it doesn't go well, use a curse spell."
"I understand. Even members of the Elf Race might not all know about me; I'm not just any ordinary Wizard."
「Back at his residence」
Jiang Chen researched Dark Priests and the Wizard profession.
Wizards were a type of Dark Priest, a Super Divine-level Class with special skills. They could use witchcraft to curse enemies and even create a clone. The main body never appeared; it used the clone to engage enemies instead.
The clone was the Wizard's strongest Dark Magic, effectively granting them an Immortal Body on the battlefield.
Jiang Chen, too, only understood this much.
Beyond that, he knew nothing.
Jiang Chen had a headache.
How do Wizards bewitch their enemies?
Angelina, noticing Jiang Chen's troubled expression, asked, "What's on your mind?"
"It's nothing."
"Good to hear. Let's eat. Summon Olive. The little one must be starving."
Jiang Chen nodded and used Covenant Magic to summon Olive.
As soon as Olive appeared, she hopped onto Jiang Chen's back, giggling. "Brother, let me ride on your back!"
Jiang Chen reached out, took Olive into his arms, and shot her a look. "You're the dragon. It should be me riding on your back."
"How could that be? I'm a girl, you know! Sister told me not to let anyone ride on my neck, especially men."
Angelina smiled.
Jiang Chen glanced at her. Good grief, so you're the one who taught her that.
She's only three years old! How could you have the heart to teach her this?
Olive said, "Brother, do you often ride on Sister Lina's neck?"
Jiang Chen was speechless. I'm an upright person; why would I ride on her neck? Don't wrongly accuse me. How could I possibly do such a thing?
"No."
Olive put her hands on her hips. "You're lying! When I asked Sister earlier, she blushed! You definitely bully Sister like that often. Hmph! If you dare do it again, just watch how I'll deal with you!"
Olive pouted, clearly unconvinced.
Jiang Chen was utterly exasperated. This little girl, whose side are you really on? You're my Covenant Beast; how did you end up siding with Angelina?
"Alright, Olive, that's enough," Angelina interrupted.
"No way! I can't let Brother bully you. If he does it again, you turn it around and ride on his head!" Olive declared.
Jiang Chen coughed.
Angelina chuckled and nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you."
"'Get lost,' Jiang Chen muttered, rolling his eyes as he ate.
Why is there a seafood taste? Could this be seafood bread?
"Oh, so you dare to resist!"
Olive wrapped her arms around Jiang Chen's neck from behind, pulling so tight he almost choked. "Sister!" she yelled. "Come quick and try riding on Brother's head! Let him see what it feels like!"
Angelina laughed gleefully.
"Stop fooling around! Do you want to eat or not? If not, I'll starve you for three days and nights and see if you still dare to oppose me!" Jiang Chen finally said, pinning Olive to the ground.
You wretched girl, you're rebelling!
Seeing Olive had calmed down, Jiang Chen let her go.
The three of them sat down to eat together.
Jiang Chen asked, "Olive, how much do you know about Wizards?"
"'Hmph! I'm not telling you,' Olive said, rolling her eyes and pointedly ignoring Jiang Chen.
"'Come now, Olive,' Angelina coaxed. 'Brother must have something important. He's in great danger right now. If you don't tell him and he dies, what will you do? You won't have a brother anymore.'"
Olive thought for a bit. "'Well... I do know a fair bit about Wizards,' she conceded."
"Tell me."
"'I once heard Mother say that most Wizards are incarnations of Dark Elves. They are born malevolent beings, living on the other side of the Elven World.'"
Jiang Chen asked, "We don't have Wizards on our side?"
"We do. However, on our side, we have Light Priests; their discipline is also called Light Ritual. Their skills are different. Wizards belong to that Super Divine-level Class type. We don't have Dark Wizards here."
"Then do you know what skills Dark Wizards have?"
"Clones, curses, Dark Magic. To kill a Dark Wizard, you must find their main body, which is very fragile. Our Dragon Race once researched magic that can trap a Dark Wizard's clone, though it only works under special conditions."
Jiang Chen smiled. "What's the point of trapping a Dark Wizard's clone? You need to trap the main body."
"No, it's not like that. A Dark Wizard only has one clone. If you trap the clone, it's like trapping half of their soul."
"Soul?"
"Yes. If a Dark Wizard bewitches you, you can use magic to trap them on a spiritual level, preventing them from leaving. Their clone is equivalent to half of the Wizard's soul."
Jiang Chen's eyes lit up. He hadn't expected Wizards to have such a weakness! The Wizard's clone was created by infusing half of their soul into it, allowing it to resurrect even if destroyed.
Without the clone, it was as if they were without their Protective Dharma Treasure.
A Wizard's greatest strength was their clone.
