Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 1122: Sacrifice of Time

Rewinding a minute, back to the moment after Jamie's Spatial-Destruction Shot had blown a hole through the chest of Bewússtsein's third body.

Bewússtsein lay sprawled across the ground, his wide eyes locked on the ruptured sky above.

He wasn't dead.

At least, not this body.

Its heart had been destroyed, but Bewússtsein's bodies weren't normal to begin with, so it wasn't surprising they could still function without something as vital as a heart.

'…what the hell just happened?'

His mind raced as he tried to process the turn of events.

The third body had been meant to act as bait, a diversion to keep the teenagers busy while his fourth and fifth bodies launched sneak attacks to finish them off.

Instead, a Demon King had appeared out of nowhere and destroyed both instantly.

'How the hell did he even get here? How did he find here?'

Bewússtsein's thoughts spun with disbelief.

He had verified everything over and over.

He had checked the planet, scanned the surrounding systems, and even colluded with 'Aramis'. All his efforts confirmed there were no Race Kings on or anywhere near Aramis.

Alas, Jamie was a blind spot, completely invisible to 'Aramis'. On top of that, Jamie had been actively concealing his presence.

'Of all the Race Kings… it had to be him!'

A cold dread crept through Bewússtsein. At his current level, he had no chance against even a single Race King, which was why he'd remained hidden, meticulously avoiding them.

Race Emperors were, of course, the ones he most needed to stay away from, but among the Race Kings, there was one he feared just as much as those Emperors—Jamie.

The reason was simple. Jamie wasn't just any Race King. He was a Complete Cosmic Being who wielded Void power, capable of erasing existences.

'It doesn't matter how or why he's here now. What matters is that he's here—and he's destroyed the barrier I placed!'

As Arthur had already suspected, Bewússtsein had taken extreme measures to stay undetected.

He had placed a barrier around Cruotis Prime, crafted to prevent anyone from realising the truth of the planet—that its billions of inhabitants were already dead.

The barrier also cut off the SOS signals Artemisia and Beatrix had sent, trapping them within the planet's gravitational field.

He knew he was targeting the daughters of god Rulers, expected them to have something like that, and had prepared accordingly. But now, Jamie had broken that barrier, letting those signals escape.

And that meant serious trouble.

On top of dealing with Jamie, Bewússtsein would soon have to contend with two enraged 'Supreme' god Rulers tearing through space and time to reach their daughters.

Aidos might be on the far side of the galaxy, but that meant nothing to a furious Deity Realm parent who could move faster than light and fold space itself to close distances.

Even the weakest High-Tier Deity in the Cosmos could easily overwhelm the current Bewússtsein.

Although he possessed energy comparable to a Deity, the bodies he'd created with the power of Life Akasha granted him were heavily restricted.

So restricted, in fact, that he couldn't even overpower the four teenagers he'd abducted.

They were only experimental bodies—test models he had crafted to probe the limits of a Planetary Consciousness.

The main limitation he faced was his inability to leave the planet's gravitational field, and Bewússtsein had used these bodies as a temporary way to bypass that restriction.

He used them to observe multiple locations and search for suitable existences whose powers he could steal and absorb, as he intended to do with the quartet he had captured.

Once he severed the final thread binding him to Cruotis Prime, he planned to use these test bodies to trial his permanent incarnation.

He intended to transfer himself into them, testing their capabilities and pinpointing flaws that needed correcting.

The ultimate goal was perfection. With the planet's cosmic energy as his foundation, he would craft his final body—a flawless vessel free of the limitations of his current forms.

His plan had been moving forward without issue, but now, at the final stage, he was running into obstacles.

'I can't beat him.'

The obstacle that was 'Jamie' was insurmountable to 'Bewússtsein'.

'But if I can bring him down to my level…!'

A spark of hope lit within Bewússtsein's thoughts.

'Right now, he's within my gravitational field. I haven't fully severed my connection to this planet, so I still retain some control.

If I impose an Existence Realm restriction…'

The idea was possible, but the energy required was far beyond what he currently had.

Normally, such a restriction already demanded immense energy, and that was when there were no targets on the planet.

Imposing one when a target was already present would take hundreds of times more energy than usual.

Energy that Cruotis Prime—and by extension, Bewússtsein—didn't possess.

'But I have something with that amount of energy. It will leave me weaker, but if it eliminates this obstacle, then it's a sacrifice worth making.'

His right arm slowly moved, clawing into the earth as he strengthened his fragile connection to Cruotis Prime.

'Accessing Planetary Administrator Authority'

'Activate Planetary Defence Mechanism: Existence Realm Restriction.'

Error#93 Administrator lacks sufficient 'Justification.'

'Category: Class 1 Existential Threat—should be sufficient Justification.'

Error#94! Insufficient Energy!

The system message flashed before his eyes. Bewússtsein took a deep breath, his resolve hardening, and then he spoke aloud.

"Sacrifice…Candidate Sigil."

…

Request Confirmed.

Processing…

Threat Level Confirmed.

Permission Granted to Prime Class Authority Wielder: 'Cruoţ̶͋͊į̸̀̉̀—̷͓̱̟͋e̸̘͖̒w̷̩̒̌ússtsein'.

The moment Bewússtsein received permission, the Time Sigil on his soul was ripped away, pulled into the ground and shot straight to the planet's core at light speed, and almost immediately, a massive pillar of cosmic energy erupted from beneath him, its deafening roar shattering the air.

This naturally caught the attention of the group, who weren't too far off, and all eyes turned toward the source.

'He's still alive? I made sure to use an attack that obliterates both body and sou—what th—?! This bastard!'

Jamie instantly sensed something was wrong as the energies of certain restrictive laws merged with the planet's ambient energy.

On top of that, the Aspect of Time's energy vanished from the planet entirely.

Without wasting a single moment, Jamie disappeared and reappeared above Bewússtsein's fallen body.

His fist, wreathed in searing cosmic energy, slammed down without hesitation.

***KAAABOOOMMM!!!!!

Jamie's punch instantly annihilated every subatomic particle making up Bewússtsein's third body, reducing it to nothingness.

His fist struck the ground below, and a wave of cosmic energy erupted, unleashing a blinding burst of light that rivalled the brilliance of a star.

The sound of the explosion was deafening, strong enough to rupture any unshielded eardrums.

Alvey and McEnda immediately activated their Authorities, forming a protective barrier around the four teenagers to shield them from the destructive wave.

Shockwaves and energy ripples tore through the land, sending mountain-sized chunks of rock flying through the air as if hurled by an invisible force.

A towering cloud of dust, smoke, flames, and cosmic energy rose into the sky, obscuring their vision.

Not only had Jamie deleted Bewússtsein's body, he'd severely wounded the planet itself.

His cosmic spatial-destruction energy had carved a massive void into the planet, stretching over a thousand kilometres in diameter and plunging more than 12,000 kilometres deep.

It obliterated the planet's crust, devoured the mantle and the space it had occupied, and even grazed the surface of the outer core.

What unfolded next looked like a scene pulled straight from an apocalyptic film.

The aftermath of the explosion began with an unimaginable release of energy, shaking Cruotis Prime to its core—literally.

The ground buckled and fractured for thousands of kilometres, with the erased crust causing the surrounding land to collapse and sending shockwaves through the tectonic plates.

Evan and the others launched themselves skyward as Alvey and McEnda formed protective barriers against the maelstrom of shockwaves and debris, with Alvey going further to warp the group hundreds of kilometres away for safety.

But even at that distance, the devastation was anything but distant.

The caldera from Jamie's punch glowed with searing heat, rivers of molten rock cascaded outward, lava lakes became oceans of fire, and dormant volcanoes erupted from seismic tremors. Smoke, ash, and toxic gases filled the atmosphere, triggering a nuclear winter, thinning the air, and extreme temperature drops.

Cruotis Prime's gravitational forces shifted unnaturally due to the sudden loss of 'mass', continents drifted, and the caldera expanded as the crust continued to collapse.

The core's disruption unleashed cosmic energy storms, twisting universal laws, reversing gravity, and fracturing time, while the group watched the catastrophic devastation in stunned silence.

The scale of destruction was beyond anything some of them had ever imagined.

But while the two demons were confused about why Jamie had done this, the four teenagers didn't take long to figure it out.

Especially after recalling Arthur's words about the worst-case scenario being the destruction of the planet to kill Bewússtsein.

They realised that Jamie had just attempted exactly that.

But Arthur, able to perceive cosmic energy, could also see that for some reason—

'He didn't succeed…'

The reason became immediately clear from what happened next and the reactions of Alvey and McEnda.

The cosmic energy of the Aspect of Time within Bewússtsein's Candidate Sigil suddenly radiated outward, spreading through the air like an invisible storm.

Everything turned monochrome as time froze.

And this wasn't just a localised stop. Time across the entire planet had come to a complete standstill.

Then, in a strange and unnatural shift, parts of the flow of time began to reverse.

It was a disorienting sight for Arthur. Amidst the currents of time moving forward, some began to push back.

It was contradictory.

Then the world regained its colour.

But something else began to occur. The chaotic ambient energies and the planet's laws suddenly contracted around Alvey and McEnda's bodies.

The two demons clutched their hearts, overwhelmed by the sudden wave of pain as their demonic energies weakened instantly.

The sensation of the universe's laws constricting around them felt like invisible chains wrapping tightly around their hearts, binding their energy and imposing an artificial limit on their powers.

"Wha-?! Guys!"

Evan immediately noticed the demons staggering and rushed to catch them, preventing them from falling.

As he touched them, he felt the movement of universal law energies in their bodies, and his eyes widened.

'What the hell is this?'

With no answers, he quickly turned to both the System Archive and his Prisma Book to check if his previous incarnation understood what was happening.

Before the Prisma Book search finished, the RHS Archive displayed results.

'This is…Existence Realm Limitation?'

It was a planetary defence mechanism designed to restrict the Existence Realms of existences on a planet.

While mostly used by Lower Worlds to stop Higher Existences from entering and destroying them, this defence wasn't lost at higher levels.

To bypass it, one either had to destroy the planet from the outside or limit one's power to the level imposed by the restriction.

This limitation was what Bewússtsein had imposed by sacrificing his Candidate Sigil.

A Candidate Sigil—essentially a concentrated mass of extremely high-quality cosmic energy drawn from a Concept of the Cosmos—was more than enough as a sacrifice to impose an Existence Realm Limitation.

'…on Jamie!!'

It wasn't Evan who realised this, but Arthur.

Bewússtsein hadn't targeted Alvey or McEnda. The Limitation was directed at Jamie's power, with the others merely caught in the fallout.

Arthur wanted to believe Jamie was strong enough to resist the Limitation, but then he remembered: this wasn't Jamie's true body.

It was only an Astral Projection, given physical form through cosmic energy.

Additionally, he was unaware that Jamie's vessel was nearing its limits.

He was expending far more energy than usual to maintain it and had already used a considerable amount tracking them to Cruotis Prime.

The current Jamie simply couldn't resist the Limitation imposed by the sacrifice of an Aspect of a Concept.
