"Ash Phantom: The Legend Reborn"

Chapter 139: Who Playing Drum of War?

Inside Nova's House

Sukamu gently placed Dax and Nova on a soft, blue watery-canvas bed that Nova had created before the battle. The glow from it shimmered faintly, casting calm ripples of light across the walls.

Auren sat on the couch, wincing slightly as he touched the bandage on his arm. Vivi and Nyra sat together on the sofa nearby, both looking tired but relieved. Sukamu sank into a chair with a long breath after settling the two boys safely.

Vivi looked at him curiously."Don't you get cold, Uncle? You're only wearing that one piece of white cloth across your shoulder… and that single strip on your chest."

Sukamu smiled, resting his chin on his hand." Ask your dear friend Auren," he said, his eyes glinting. "I told him something about it."

Vivi turned to Auren. "What is it, Auren?"

Auren gave a lazy grin, his voice calm but teasing."You really wanna know? "Of course," Vivi said.

He smirked and leaned back. "I'll tell you later. Not in the mood now."

He giggled, and Vivi immediately threw a pillow at him. Auren dodged effortlessly, chuckling."I'm a hunter, Vivi. You can't hit me that easily."Hunter, whatever," Vivi said with a grin, crossing her arms.

Meanwhile, Nyra remained silent beside Dax, watching his calm breaths. Sukamu's tone softened as he looked over."He's alive and fine now. Let him rest for a while."

Nyra finally smiled—a small, tired, but peaceful smile that warmed the quiet room.

Meanwhile, at Ramuza

A sudden siren screamed across the cloudy skies of Eito Town, cutting through the silence like a beast's roar. Its echo reached every corner—houses, towers, streets—everything shook for a moment. People stopped where they stood, staring blankly at the glowing red lights spinning above. No one understood what had happened, but deep down… everyone felt it. Something terrible.

Then came the highlight broadcast across the town's magical screen. The news was short—but enough to freeze the blood of every listener.

"The great priest family of Ramuza… is gone."

The whole street went silent. You could hear hearts beating. The long-existing, most respected priest bloodline, the Vaslimo family, was wiped out—completely—without even a single trace left behind.

Mothers grabbed their children and ran home. Old men trembled in disbelief."Impossible…" someone whispered, "That family served the gods for ages…"

But the truth spread like wildfire. It wasn't done by armies. Not by demons. It was done by… kids.

Four kids, whose strength was nowhere near normal—no, far beyond that. Each of them radiated the power of elite mages, and even without Vivi, their rampage turned sacred lands into burning ruins.

The news didn't stay on the streets for long. It reached the ears of King Velmore, the ruler of the northern dominion.

Inside his obsidian palace, the messenger's voice trembled as he delivered the report. Velmore sat still on his high throne, the room dimly lit by torches that flickered with the air. His fingers twitched.

"...Repeat that," he said quietly.

"Sire—Priest Vaslimo and all his mages… they're gone. Eliminated. By unknown youths."

Velmore's eyes widened. His breath turned heavy. His throne trembled beneath his grip. Then, his aura exploded—a blinding storm of violet energy blasted through the chamber, tearing banners from the walls. The ground cracked beneath his boots.

"WHO DARES…" his voice thundered, shaking even the royal guards stationed outside.

A wave of power burst outward, crossing the whole palace like a violent heartbeat.Windows shattered. Birds fled from the towers. Even the air itself quivered in fear.

Every guard bowed to their knees, unable to stand beneath the weight of his wrath.

And in that moment… all of Velmore Palace shivered.

"Find every mage. Hunt the culprits. Bring me their heads."King Velmore's command ripped through the council hall like a blade. His face was a mask of ice and fury. "Send every skilled mage to the site now. I want answers. Kill any Tideborn member you find — especially Litos. If this is their work, they will pay. There is no turning back."

The palace erupted into action. Messengers took flight, banners unfurled, and the royal mages readied their grimoires. Orders spilled out like wildfire: a grand raid, every battlement prepared. The king's rage was a storm — it would not be contained.

News travelled faster than arrows. Birds carried the alarm across oceans and mountains — to Yuzen, Roma, Ryuki, Raman, Rompo, Alaina, Mekkor, and countless other cities. The siren's echo became an empire-wide shout.

A tired messenger-bird settled on Hoshin Maru's windowsill, dropping a folded newspaper at his feet. He left his tea, fingers stained with ash from the brazier, and untied the paper with slow, practised hands. The headline punched him harder than the cold wind.

Ramuza Priest Family Wiped Out — Unknown Assailants.

The article was brutal and short: priests slain, mages butchered, sacred halls defiled. Eyewitness lines, the names of the fallen. The city's holy blood spilled on the front page.

Hoshin's eyes widened. The small wooden room seemed to shrink. Baku City. Ryuki. His breath hitched—an old fear crawled up his spine. Curse of the Ryuki bloodline? The thought hit him like a frostbite sting.

If Auren Ryuki stood behind this, it was no child's mischief. Auren's blood was different — holy lineage twisted by fate into something dangerous. And Ryden… that name flared like a coal in Hoshin's mind. Ryden chose wrong. He pushed a child into a path he did not understand. If Ryden's meddling birthed this power, then what had been holy might now turn unforgivingly unholy.

He shivered at the image — the Ryuki bloodline, once a pride, becoming a threat to all. He set the paper down slowly, the tea steaming forgotten. "I hope… It's not Auren," he whispered to the cold room, but the whisper carried no certainty.

Outside, the empire braced. Somewhere in the dark, storm clouds gathered, and the war drums of fate began to beat. Like hissing near his ears..

This voice coming from one other than..
