Chapter 161: The Leader of The Divine Agents

The Agent of Death turned sharply toward Sa-Ya, his gaze cutting like a blade.

"You! Playing with another's soul again?!" he snarled.

Al's eyes widened as he witnessed the impossible tug-of-war—and panic set in.

"Sa-Ya! Stop—don't!"

But before his warning could even reach her, the Agent had already raised his left hand—dark energy swirling like a living storm, writhing around his palm.

He looked at Sa-Ya without emotion, his tone absolute.

"You are a nuisance."

The instant he pointed toward her, the air collapsed.

Al surged forward, through the only direction the barrier didn't reach.

"SA-YA! MOVE!" he bellowed.

Too late.

ZRAAASSSHHHH!!!

A violent surge of black lightning ripped through the air, launching straight at Sa-Ya.

She didn't even flinch—didn't realize she was being attacked. Her trembling lips still whispered her chant, her eyes glistening with tears as her focus remained on Basri.

Al's heart sank.

But then—

GRAB!

A thunderous impact resounded. It wasn't the sound of destruction—

but of something stopping it.

Al's breath caught in his throat.

Between Sa-Ya and the Agent—

a figure had materialized.

That entity had caught the dark strike barehanded.

From the point of contact, shockwaves exploded outward—cracking the stone floor, carving a crater into the ground.

Silence devoured the room. Dust swirled like smoke in the heavy air.

The silhouette moved slightly, its hand tightening—and the black energy shattered, fracturing like brittle glass.

Crack. Crack. PRAAAKKKK!

The shards dissolved into the void.

And from within the haze—

a deep, familiar voice spoke.

"I suppose I'll have to interfere… just this once."

The tone was calm, yet carried an overwhelming pressure—something between heaven's authority and hell's wrath.

A chill raced down Al's spine. His entire being screamed in instinctual awe.

For the first time, the Agent's composure faltered. His eyes narrowed, pupils contracting to pinpoints.

"...You."

Both Al and the Death Agent turned their full attention toward the figure. Only Sa-Ya, still struggling to stabilize Basri's soul, remained unaware of what had just transpired—or what now stood before them.

In an instant, the bunker, once filled with the deadly hum of death energy, fell still—as though something had purged it entirely. Sa-Ya's spell even managed to restore most of Basri's soul in that calm.

The Divine Agent of Death froze. His raised hand trembled slightly, his eyes—those twin vortices of heaven and hell—stared blankly toward the space where his attack had vanished.

"Why… why have You appeared here…" he muttered, voice unsteady, as though standing before one who held dominion even over him.

The world itself seemed to hold its breath.

The flickering lights in the bunker ceased completely.

Time folded in upon itself—sound, motion, even the breath of air fell into perfect stillness.

Then the figure began to move forward. Slowly, deliberately. Yet every move radiated a majesty surpassing even the Death Agent's dreadful presence.

His arrival was so overwhelming, it felt as though reality itself bent backward, opening its seams to permit something higher—something divine—to cross its boundary.

And with each step closer, golden light emanated from his being, swelling brighter and broader. Whether the light swirled naturally around him or his manifestation was still forming, none could tell. It was as though his very existence required time to stabilize.

Golden fractures bloomed in the air—thin lines of radiant brilliance tracing the atmosphere like celestial veins, as if the heavens themselves smiled to welcome his descent. They tore through the lingering darkness, illuminating everything around.

And within that brilliance, a gentle breeze stirred—an ethereal current that accompanied his approach.

He halted. His form solidified.

Just like before, only Al and the Agent of Death could truly see him; Sa-Ya could perceive only the faint, golden radiance glowing behind her.

What is that? Another being? Another presence? she wondered faintly.

But she was too weak now—she had to focus on her spell—so she ignored whatever was happening around her.

Meanwhile, Al experienced something peculiar.

"What is this? Another Divine Agent? But the sensation feels the same as when the Death Agent appeared… yet why is my Dimensional Eye pulsing like this? This isn't just another Divine Agent—he's… beyond that."

If that was true, then this situation was truly disastrous. One Divine Agent was already overwhelming—now there were two?

Anxiety clawed at Al's chest as he moved closer toward Sa-Ya, driven by instinct and dread.

The figure finally completed its manifestation.

The golden luminescence wrapping around him dimmed slightly, revealing a vast humanoid silhouette of pure white-gold, adorned with intricate, pulsating runic markings across its body.

His eyes—golden pupils with silver irises—mirrored those of the Death Agent, while from his back extended something vast and flowing—perhaps a robe, perhaps colossal wings of light.

His form was magnificent—divine beauty incarnate—the perfect counterbalance to the Death Agent's terrifying majesty.

The new arrival—the other Divine Agent—lowered his hand.

"You act of your own accord again… before mortal eyes."

His tone did not rise; there was no wrath, no overt threat. Yet each syllable reverberated through the soul's walls of every being present, compelling their knees to weaken under unseen authority.

The Divine Death Agent froze instantly at that reprimand.

The dark aura that had been enveloping his body disintegrated at once—like a veil of shadow falling apart into nothingness. He lowered his head deeply, kneeling until his forehead nearly touched the ground.

"L–Leader! Peace be upon you, Leader! I would never dare go that far. I have no such authority. I merely—" he tried to justify himself, but his words were severed midway.

"You merely encountered those who disrupted your assignment, correct?" the Leader interjected calmly, his tone serene yet absolute. A gentle ring of golden light coiled around him, illuminating the Death Agent's face that had been swallowed in darkness. "And peace be upon you as well."

The Death Agent could only nod, unable to form another word.

Al stood frozen beside Sa-Ya, his eyes locked upon that figure, observing every minute movement.

So that's the Leader… No wonder his aura carries higher authority than the others. Even among the Agents, there's a hierarchy after all, he thought, his gaze tightening.

He swept his surroundings again, feeling a strange distortion in the air itself.

Even fragments of that being's energy were enough to subtly bend reality in this place—unlike the Death Agent, whose presence had barely altered anything. He's terrifying… I never expected to witness him here, Al murmured to himself, a faint shiver running down his spine.

The Divine Leader moved once more, stopping right between the Death Agent and the humans.

He didn't look at anyone in particular, yet every glance of his seemed to pierce through all of them at once.

His voice emerged—soft and gentle, yet layered with dual resonance; one echo reached the ears, while the other reverberated directly within the heart.

"That is precisely why I came." His tone felt like both an embrace and a whip striking the soul.

"What do you mean, my Leader?" asked the Death Agent.

"Your duty is to maintain the rhythm of death—not to direct your wrath toward the living. You understand that, don't you? It's natural for you to subdue those who hinder your work." the Leader replied, his tone composed yet authoritative.

The Death Agent gave a slight nod.

"But… after what you have discovered here—you've realized that the rhythm of life on this planet has been thrown into chaos, haven't you? Including those whose destinies have been rewritten." His golden eyes shifted toward Al, who was supporting Sa-Ya's weakened body.

The Death Agent followed his gaze toward Al.

"You're right, Leader. You truly know much."

Al, too, felt their eyes upon him. A heavy anxiety twisted within his chest. He was nothing more than a cornered kitten before two apex predators.

Why are they staring at me? Damn it. Why am I even scared? I have their kryptonite, don't I? he thought bitterly.

"Do not flatter me. My knowledge comes from Him," the Leader said sharply.

That was enough to make the Death Agent lower his head again. The air around him trembled faintly—as though his body were straining under invisible pressure.

"You are right, Leader."

"Hmph… Anyway, I have come bearing a divine message—for you, and for all Agents. Listen well." His voice remained calm, but the atmosphere quivered violently, as though the heavens themselves were growling yet restraining their fury.

The Death Agent's eyes widened, and he immediately knelt lower.

"My apologies, Leader. But… you could have summoned me directly within the Divine Realm. Why descend here and deliver the divine message in this world?"

The Leader smiled faintly. His golden radiance spread outward, engulfing their surroundings—a warmth so tranquil, yet within it resided an absolute power that defied comprehension.

He slowly raised his hand.

In the air, the remaining black fragments from the previous explosion floated upward. Golden light pierced through them, unraveling them into glittering dust—and then, they vanished entirely.

"Because of this human child. This cursed mortal must also hear it."

Both Al and the Death Agent widened their eyes in shock.

"Him? Don't tell me… this is the New Covenant? But wasn't the Last Covenant supposed to be the final one?" the Death Agent exclaimed.

Al, who had been silently observing, flinched at hearing himself mentioned.

"Huh? Me? Why me?" he asked in an ancient tongue, confusion thick in his voice.

Sa-Ya, hearing him speak, stirred weakly in his arms.

"M–Master? Are you speaking to me? Is everything safe now?" she whispered faintly.

"Ah… Sa-Ya, calm yourself. I'm talking to them," Al murmured softly in the human language.

Sa-Ya nodded weakly, understanding.

The Leader's golden eyes glimmered as he observed their exchange, a faint smile crossing his divine face.

"Of course, this is not the New Covenant," he said, addressing the Death Agent.

He then turned toward Al. "And as for why you must hear it—just prepare yourself. Your body may ache when you do."

"Ache?" Al repeated, frowning.

"You'll understand once you hear it," the Leader replied.

He turned then, his gaze falling upon a specific point—the rift of the third dimension, the breach connecting Putri's body to the third dimensional, Almakubar.

"You two may come out as well," he commanded toward the rift.

At once, the third-dimensional breach tore open. The dimensional vibrations were so intense that the bunker itself shuddered violently.

Blinding light flared on one side—darkness surged on the other.

Al's eyes sharpened at the sight.

The Third Dimension is open… it looks like my body can pass through it now. This is my chance. I can go in and rescue Shae, he thought swiftly.

But before he could take a single step, the Leader stopped him.

"Human! I know what you're thinking. You need not go there. The ones you wish to save will be fine. The divine message surpasses all else in importance. Your duty now is to listen," the Leader declared, his tone imbued with an overwhelming wave of power that pressed heavily upon Al.

Al's body tensed, every movement weighed down by that invisible force.

Damn it… no other choice then. And just when that dimension finally opened again, he thought bitterly.

From within the rift, two luminous silhouettes emerged—one radiating pure white, the other cloaked in dim shadow.

"Peace be upon you, Leader," they both said in unison, bowing before him.

"Peace upon you as well," the Leader replied, chuckling softly. "I assume you two have been the busiest of late. Almakubar must be in chaos."

"Indeed, Leader," they answered, their voices carrying weary complaint.

The Leader gave a slow nod. He then surveyed the vast space around them and knew the moment had arrived.

"It is time," he declared solemnly.

Turning his gaze toward Al, he smiled faintly and raised his arm.

Al frowned in confusion—then suddenly, a crushing pressure filled the chamber.

"Arghhh… What is this?!" Al groaned, pain surging through his body.

And then—

WOSHH!!

The world shifted. Reality dissolved.

The entire area transformed into an endless expanse of pure white void.

Al staggered, gasping for air. When his vision cleared, he realized only he and the four Agents remained—alone within this infinite nothingness.

"Where… am I…?" he whispered, bewildered.

Only then did the truth settle in—he was standing outside the boundaries that defined life and death itself.

And whatever would happen next…

could very well become the turning key of his destiny—

the true beginning of the darkness that awaited in his world.
