Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds

"It's been two months, no mistake!"

"Didn't anyone inform you?"

"No." Carl's expression darkened. "No one ever mentioned it."

The timing was off! Over a month ago, Tim was still sending messages to Hibell, but he never brought up Adolf's death. How could such important news be omitted?

"Carl!" Amidst their conversation, Tim, clad in a Wizard's robe, rushed over, beads of sweat on his forehead. "When did you arrive? Why didn't you send a message in advance?"

"Just arrived," Carl frowned and asked, "Why didn't you tell us about the tutor's death?"

"The tutor?" Tim raised an eyebrow, not answering the question directly, but instead firmly corrected, "Carl, there's something wrong with the term you use for him. You met the tutor less than three times. He didn't formally accept you as his disciple."

"You can only call him 'Teacher'!"

"COUGH, COUGH." At that moment, Arthur, who was nearby, coughed lightly and interjected, "According to the customs among Wizards, if no will was made in advance, upon a Wizard's death, his estate is divided among his apprentices. However, they must be official apprentices; merely having studied under him doesn't count."

In the world of Wizardry, the bond between a master and apprentice far outweighs that of Bloodline. After all, an apprentice inherits the Wizardly path from their predecessor. Ordinary people possessing Wizardly knowledge would only bring disaster.

In a formal master-apprentice relationship, the term used is 'Tutor,' not 'Teacher.' If Carl called Adolf 'Teacher,' it would mean he had no right to inherit the estate.

"Teacher?"

Carl seemed to guess something but couldn't grasp the fleeting spark of realization. He said subconsciously, "The tutor accepted me as his disciple. There's a letter to prove it. You must know this, Tim."

"I indeed don't know about it." Tim scoffed coldly. "Forging a letter isn't difficult. Besides, the tutor is already dead. Does that mean he wrote it just because you say so?"

Adolf died two months ago! Tim sent a message to Mutan City to pick people up! We encountered assassins in Mutan City! Apprentice!

In an instant, all the pieces fell into place, and all his questions were answered.

"..." Carl stared directly at Tim, then suddenly spoke, "So it was you who hired the assassins! You wanted to kill us and then solely possess the tutor's inheritance!"

"What are you talking about?" Tim's eyes shifted slightly, a flicker of panic crossing his face, before he denied angrily, "I have no idea about any assassins!"

"You don't know?" Carl stepped forward, looking at him intently. "You deliberately kept silent about the tutor's death but had us go to Mutan City to pick up the tutor's relatives."

"Coincidentally, we were attacked by assassins there, and my senior sister and I... were almost killed!"

The thought of that moment ignited a fury within him, making Carl clench his fists. He had never been so close to death!

"What do you want?"

Tim took a step back, a Spirit Light of witchcraft appearing on his body. "Going to Mutan City to pick someone up was the tutor's arrangement. I didn't tell you the tutor had passed away only because I was too busy. It wouldn't have been too late to discuss it after Hibell arrived."

"Mentioning it on the journey would only have caused my junior sister and the tutor's wife heartache."

"Bullshit!" Carl stepped forward. "You just want to monopolize the tutor's inheritance! Otherwise, how could there be such a coincidence with assassins attacking us?"

"Unfortunately for you..."

"You never considered that the assassination might fail, and that my senior sister and I would both make it to Black Swamp."

"Nonsense!" Tim bellowed. "Your being targeted has nothing to do with me! Who knows who you've offended out there?"

"Furthermore..."

"You are not the tutor's disciple at all!"

"Am I not?" Carl said. "There's the Teacher's letter as proof, and my senior sister can attest to it."

"A letter can be forged. As for Hibell..." Tim glanced at Hibell lying nearby, a cold smile on his face. "Why don't you have her get up and speak?"

Hibell lay there, her consciousness blurry and her breath weak. She was in no state to speak. Even if she managed to utter a word or two, Tim could dismiss it as incoherent.

"Elder Arthur," Carl turned his head and asked, "my senior sister has been poisoned. Does the Swamp Alliance have an antidote?"

"This girl cultivated Toxin Immunity, a Zero-Circle Magic, yet she was still poisoned." Arthur sighed. "This poison is difficult to counteract."

"It's the secretion of a Whirling Snail." There were not just a few of them present; a small crowd of onlookers had gathered.

One of them, wearing a pointed Wizard Hat and holding a long magic wand, squinted over and said, "The Whirling Snail is a special type of Magic Creature. I've heard the Hands of Shadow specifically cultivate a few."

"Oh!" Arthur nodded. "Joyce, you truly are knowledgeable."

"Old gentleman," Carl stepped forward and asked, "can it be cured?"

"There's a chance." Joyce nodded slowly. "The blood of a Death-Herald Crow can neutralize this poison, and the Swamp Alliance can procure this material."

"However..."

"It will cost forty to fifty Magic Stones!"

A Death-Herald Crow, also a Magic Creature, is rare, and obtaining its blood certainly wouldn't be cheap.

"Forty to fifty Magic Stones?" Carl's expression turned grim. Everything he owned might not even be worth that much.

Hmm... Guna's armor is worth a good number of Magic Stones, but it's my life-saving equipment. I can't sell it.

"My senior sister is the tutor's disciple. She's entitled to inherit the tutor's estate, so buying the materials with her share of the inheritance wouldn't be a problem."

"Elder Arthur," Carl spoke up, "I request to divide the inheritance. We can use my senior sister's rightful share of the inheritance to buy the antidote. Once she's conscious, she will prove that I am the tutor's disciple. By then, all these issues will be resolved."

"No way!" Before Arthur could respond, Tim immediately interjected.
