Reincarnated! A Tale of the Sorceress Amaya

Chapter 267: Busy

The wedding would not happen any time soon. It needed a lot of preparation. From deciding a date, to getting appropriate rings and coming up with a guest list. Would it be right to invite Izanami? What about the Dominion? I had not even met the high queen so far. Something that I should probably do at some point.

Also, rings. I definitely wanted something special. We did have a smith for armour and weapons but not necessarily jewellery. So I tasked my people to find someone appropriate. I was fine with providing spell slots for enchantment or acquiring some materials myself, if needed.

While preparations for the wedding were running our town was doing well. Sandra had hired a dwarven construction company who started the expansion of our keep. They would also build the train station. Speaking of the train, construction of the tracks was underway. While there was no prototype yet we wanted the tracks finished as soon as possible.

But my plans for Iron Rock were bigger than just the train. I wanted to send people there. Sadly, I had failed to recruit any fey, besides the dryads. And they were rather stationary. I could try to recruit succubi, but first I needed to install the gate to hell. Another ongoing project.

So a few weeks after the ritual I held a meeting with all my senior people, and Lilith.

"Ok, we have a few decisions to make. First, we need to recruit more people. Second we need to finalise our plans for the gate. We haven't decided on the exact location yet. Or the defenses we want. And third, it might be a good idea to visit Iron Rock and help with the train. The quicker we have a prototype the better." I said.

"We could send a recruiter to the fairy realm. You are on good terms with lady Izanami, right? Maybe she can help you find people." Sandra suggested.

"What sort of fey are we looking for?" Lily asked.

"Well, we need some that look relatively human and are not too scary for Iron Rock. And we would have to make sure that they are loyal and on board with our ideas. I would also like some water based fey. They could help with irrigation in the fields and we could create a small lake for them." I mused.

"Nereids or nymphs might be suitable for the water." Thessia suggested. "But I do have to ask a question: What are you building here? Your grove is impressive. While I am not a part of it, I do get some benefits from sharing the land. You have turned the area quite magical. Now you want to enhance the water as well…"

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Enhance the water? Now there was an idea. I just thought water fey could help with the flow and keep the water clean. But maybe we could magic it up a bit. How would you enhance water? Well, I could definitely recruit some of them for the maid knights.

"Well, I kind of want a nice magical town here. We can grow great food, have great water, which is needed for our brewery, and make sure every house has proper heating, bathrooms,..." I shrugged.

"The grove would welcome water fey. I think we would work well together. Are they going to be maid knights as well?" Ash asked.

"Some of them hopefully." I replied. Hm. If they spent a lot of time inside the water we might need to work on maid bathing suits.

"If all of your elemental knights are here to improve your town you will limit your options to use them elsewhere." Thessia warned.

"We can always recruit more." Lucy suggested.

Thessia shook her head. "There is a limit to how many elemental knights one can have. They are strengthened through your bond, which is also powered by a connection to the elemental plane. If you keep recruiting people you will need a bigger connection but the mana needs to be filtered by Amaya. There is a limit, even for the Lady of Storms. At one point there won't be enough power to add more people."

Curious. So far I had not noticed a problem. Of course, our bond was a bit special. We did not have a single archfey on top, we had an archfey and a kitsune. Our bond was essentially controlled by two people, not one. Something that might have been only possible because Lucy was my warlock. Further, the grove's change helped with the elemental energy, or so it felt. But if we hit a limit, so be it. I still wanted my water fey maid knights.

"I don't think we will have a problem any time soon." I replied. "Anyway, let's send a recruiter to Izanami, I don't think it can hurt. Oh, and we should send an engineer and start working on tracks to her domain as well."

Sandra nodded, talking notes. "So, about your portal then. Do you want to place it near the station? We have a dryad there."

Lilith was the first to speak: "We want some space around it for people and wagons to line up. And security. I would also hope you will help me defend my side if other demon lords take an interest. My smiths in hell have constructed a connection point. I am not sure if I can create a link myself though. Fey magic is not something I am that familiar with."

"Hm. We need a ritual to link the two. Maybe I can enchant something that helps with the connection. Then we perform rituals simultaneously. Hey, when we first met you were here as an illusion. Maybe we can do that again to coordinate our rituals." I mused.

"That might work." Lilith said.

"I think we should build a giant hall. It needs to be enclosed since magic creatures could break through. Just a sturdy stone building, enhanced with magic and a large gate." Iris proposed.

"We could add food stalls inside. Next to a waiting area. Maybe add some accommodations for guards. Oh, do we want the dryad tree inside the hall?" I wondered.

"I think she would prefer her tree outdoors." Ash added.

"Oh, yeah, that makes sense." I admitted. "So maybe we have a nice garden around our dryad and the train station on one side, the portal station on the other."

"That sounds lovely." Ash replied.

"I will talk with the architects." Sandra replied, while taking further notes.

"I think we should finish the portal before you visit Iron Rock." Lily suggested. "It would offer us additional resources and would allow me to hire more succubi."

"Ok, so we send recruiters to Izanami, finish the portal, then I check on the train." I concluded.

It was a plan. Of course, the wedding preparations were also running in the background. Who knew that settling down was so much work?
