Barely any gain, but he supposed that death had been fairly anti-climactic. It had been shocking and sudden, but not very dramatic at all. Boring, even.

Ronan was pleasantly surprised by the analysis of his last iteration. Despite it ending much earlier than he had planned, he had accomplished most of what he'd set out to do.
Originally he had needed just 8 more chronos merits. That would get him the 13 he required to purchase the next level of a class of one's own, and thus unlock his second sub-class slot. He had earned 16 merits in the most recent iteration, double what he needed.
That meant he would have a few extra merits to spend after acquiring his next sub-class. It was a good outcome, and it really stoked the fire of challenge within him. He felt as though the harder difficulty tutorial was no longer that—he needed something that truly pushed his limits and gave him the thrill he sought.
Interestingly, he had reached a cap on one of his multipliers. The credit gain multiplier had reached 100,000 percent and would not go up higher. Doing the maths in his head, he realised that without the imposed limit, his credit gain multiplier would be at almost seven million percent. That was absurd. He'd be earning 7 iron credits in place of 1 bronze credit. The first tutorial goblin would give him more than the entire first step of the Path of the Gladiator had given him the first time he completed it.
Unfortunately that wasn't the case. He had been stopped out at a hundred thousand, which was still a ridiculous multiplier, but nowhere near what it could be. This was also the first point in favour of doing the concentration that he had held off on the last time he was in the clan's ancestral grounds. Frankly he still wasn't sure he wanted to do it, but it seemed he was reaching the upper bounds of what he could gain through mindless repetition.

The first thing Ronan did was make his way to the Temporal Obelisk. He'd been waiting for this enhancement for a while and was excited to actually purchase it.
[Temporal Obelisk]
Jack of all trades, master of some IV [Maxed]: The influence of the Chronos Clan is not truly boundless, especially so for a sapling. However, with time and investment, your mastery over everything becomes more persistent through iterations. Maintain 25% more of your progress towards the next mastery tier through each iteration for every tier of this enhancement.
Deep cultivation IV: As a clan which transcends the limits of time and space, the act of cultivation holds a far more significant meaning to those of the Chronos heritage. Maintain 10% more of your progress towards the next cultivation realm for every tier of this enhancement. Cultivation benefits are 25% more effective for every tier of this enhancement. [Cost to reach next tier: 3 Chronos merits]
Brand of the temporal artificer III: Even items forged from the base materials of reality can be iterated. Through the powers of the temporal artificer, items can be branded and will persist through iterations. The number of concurrent brands increases by 1 for every tier of this enhancement. Enhancement will mutate once for every 3 tiers in this enhancement. Branded items will receive a 10% improvement for every tier in this enhancement. [Cost to reach next tier: 2 Chronos merits]
Hard work bears fruit III: The first descendants of the Chronos Clan enjoyed the taste of stat fruits so much that they discovered a way to make that sweet nectar echo through the fabric of time. Retain permanent stats gained by consuming stat fruits. The next tier of this enhancement will allow you to retain 10 points in each stat by consuming stat fruits. [Cost to reach next tier: 3 Chronos merits]
A class of one's own II: What is a class but a way of specialising one's skillset, to best defeat one's enemies? A single life, a single vocation. Those of the Chronos Clan are not so limited. Unlock 1 sub-class slot for every tier in this enhancement. Once a class has been locked to a slot, it cannot be removed, but it can be evolved. [Cost to reach next tier: 13 Chronos merits]
Resourceful II: The system makes the manipulation and acquisition of energy a fixed-sum game. That is not how the multiverse should operate. It is not how it used to operate. Those of the Chronos Clan should not be limited by the system's paltry resource allowance. Changes the resource quantity formula from [10 x Efficacy x StatValue] to [(10^(1+(ResourcefulTier/10)) x (ResourcefulTier + 1)) x Efficacy x StatValue]. [Cost to reach next tier: 5 Chronos merits]
Accumulate greater accomplishments to unlock further enhancement options…
Ronan didn't even need to think for longer than a second. If he had a body he would be rubbing his hands together eagerly.
You have purchased the permanent enhancement [A class of one's own] for 13 chronos merits! A class of one's own has increased from Tier I to Tier II
Thankfully he was able to lock in any class that he had unlocked as a sub-class, even when he was technically level 0. If he'd needed to reach level 200 again so that he could obtain the blessed dao child class a second time he might have punched the obelisk—though it would surely only hurt him, rather than the impressive monolith.
Before rushing into another permanent decision, he did look through the full list of classes he'd unlocked, but there were none as potent as blessed dao child. There were a couple more legendary options, but the stat gain and class skills simply didn't match up.
[Blessed Dao Child (Heavenly)] will be locked into the slot [Sub-Class 2]! This action is irreversible. Are you sure of your choice, Chosen Son of Chronos?
[Blessed Dao Child (Heavenly)] has been selected and locked to the slot [Sub-Class 2]!
With that, Ronan had locked in the crazy stat gains from level 0, and given himself the ability to take a third class. That would be another tough decision in the coming iterations, but he would have time to do that when the moment came. For now, he had 8 more chronos merits to spend.
When he looked back at the obelisk, he was shocked to see that the third sub-class would cost him 34 chronos merits. That was a whopping sum, but he realised that with the increasing amounts he was earning through cultivation and other achievements, it wasn't out of reach. It would simply require some thrifty saving, which was no different to what the second sub-class had needed.
Having seen what the mythical rarity javelin could do in his hands, Ronan realised it was well past the time he acquired a permanent weapon. Of course he had been slowly gathering skills to alloy a crafting skill for himself, but even then he would need a lot of practice before he was able to create something that was mythical rarity. For now, obtaining a potent weapon like the Saurthei javelin would be ideal.
That would leave him with 6 more merits to spend, and it was obvious where they should go. The second tier of resourceful still cost 5 merits, and it would send his health, stamina, and mana through the roof.
Considering that even a prison guard had been able to decapitate and squash him, he knew he needed more resources, despite believing he'd had plenty. His decision made, all that remained was to spend the merits.
You have purchased the permanent enhancement [Resourceful] for 5 chronos merits! Resourceful has increased from Tier I to Tier II
You have purchased the permanent enhancement [Brand of the temporal artificer] for 2 chronos merits! Brand of the temporal artificer has increased from Tier II to Tier III
[Brand of the temporal artificer] is mutating!
Branded items now receive a 50% enhancement. Branded items no longer fill a gear slot when equipped.
Ronan nodded in approval. That was a decent upgrade to what had been a relatively average boon. Some of his older items—the necklace and the ring—had been falling off in value lately. While this wouldn't put them on equal footing with something like the mythical javelin, it would go a long way to keeping them relevant. Stacking gear in the same slot was also a neat improvement.
Guess I'm going to get really into jewellery now. Then again, I would have been into cartier if it made me stronger before the integration…
He still had one more chronos merit, but there was nothing he could purchase with it. The next time he came back with merits to spend he might need to think a little harder about his decision, but it had been simple this time around.
Next on his list of things to do before he began his next lifetime was alloying his crafting skill. Ronan wasn't sure he had obtained as many parts as he possibly could, but he had enough skills that balanced each other out and gave him the right tools to start learning how to craft that he was confident in the potential outcome. At the end of the day, he could always alloy the alloyed skill with something else if an incredible crafting skill came along.
He exited the obelisk and made his way to the Chronos Forge. The twisting obsidian spires beckoned, their embrace more tempting each time he experienced it.
