"Who?!"
A human appeared in front of Banaya, the red robe hiding a shadow that was constantly shrinking beneath his body. His hair and beard were disheveled, blowing chaotically in the hellish hot wind; his tattered clothes and withered skin resembled a traveler who had met misfortune in the desert.
However, Banaya did not treat this person as a helpless madman. Beneath that slender body was something that filled him with horror. This feeling was not like having a demon's spear pointed at his pupils, a vague but massive spear tip that, though terrifying, at least was tangible. From the human opposite him, Banaya clearly felt fear, yet he didn't know what this fear was for, which only made him even more scared.
The human raised his head, the beard at the corners of his mouth slightly turning up, as if in a smile. "Don't you recognize me?" His voice was faint yet clear, carried to the Abyss Demon's ears by a gentle breeze. "Is it that my appearance has changed too much, or have you lost the ability to recognize my identity?"
The massive shadow moved slightly forward, bending down on its waist, a pair of yellow eyes darting incessantly. Then the silhouette suddenly pulled back, the flaming wings behind it trembling continuously, flickering the light. "No! You can't be him! That mage? Your voice is very much like his, but it's impossible for you to leave that place!"
"I came out of that place." The mage spread his hands, his voice calm as if discussing a trivial matter.
"No! You are not him! Your scent is entirely different from his!" Banaya hesitated for a moment, then stood up straight and shouted, "Devils never mistake people, even if you change bodies, it's impossible to escape my surveillance! But..." He seemed a bit hesitant, his voice full of questions, "Who exactly are you?"
"I don't know now either." The mage waved his hand, "However, you can call me Lynch. After all, I've gotten used to that name."
"Lynch..." The Abyss Demon sheathed its long whip and began gripping the sword with both hands. "Then what is your other name?"
"That has vanished from all worlds." Lynch took two steps forward, standing just outside the reach of the Abyss Demon's swinging giant sword. "Those vanished things save me a lot of trouble—except for one. Before I left this world, I made an oath in Bator Hell. Although the rules of Bator Hell no longer affect me, and I wouldn't lose much even if I don't fulfill that oath." He coughed twice, as if having not spoken for a long time, his throat was not used to long speeches. "Correction, I still have something to lose. That is, I can't extinguish the anger in my heart!"
"This is the Bronze Fortress!" Banaya said, his voice loud but lacking the confidence to back it up. "The Teleportation Gate leads to the demon army of the Grey Ruins, and it can also reach the ninth layer of Bator Hell! Do you think you can survive?"
"Speaking of the Teleportation Gate, I actually just returned from the ninth layer." Lynch scratched his head and tidied his hair slightly, "I apologize, because I thought the Undead Magic Bead would have ravaged this place beyond recognition, I didn't use the Plane Transfer Magic—after all, the failure rate of casting recklessly is too high, and I wouldn't want to get lost in the spatial corridor again. It took me two weeks to climb back up from the ninth layer, sorry for keeping you waiting."
"Do you think this can bluff me?" Banaya raised the Devil Beheading Long Sword, using wild laughter to dispel his own unease, attempting to convince himself that the fear was the mage's spell cast on him.
"Where is Eruiyes?" Lynch didn't even bother to look up at the raised butcher knife, as if ignoring a harmless fallen leaf. "Tell me where the Desire Demon is, and I'll make it slightly more comfortable for you."
"I won't tell you!" Banaya took a step forward, his massive body rushing out from the shadow, rolling black smoke surrounding him, only the red firelight faintly glimpsed through the gaps in the thick smoke. The decapitating giant sword sliced through the air, slashing toward the frail human before him. Only after the sword passed did the thunderous sound follow.
"Disassemble!" Lynch raised an index finger, pointing to the space above his head. The roaring giant sword popped and turned into foam, disappearing without a trace. The Abyss Demon's balance was suddenly lost in his hand, causing his entire body to lean forward, his wings spreading upward, reflexively trying to regain stability with a wing flap.
