Chapter 654: Legendary and Legends in Legends Chapter Eleven Reinforcement_3

"Shoot the ones pushing the carts, or any vulnerable connections on the siege hammer!" Wislin said to Anna beside him. Among all the elf archers who came north, only Anna survived in this Five Realms Mountain Range fortress, and only she had the skill to hit the target every time.

The elf took just one glance and realized that the siege hammer was almost indestructible—she alone couldn't destroy it. There were no ropes or any parts on the "Dragon Head" that could be shot, all parts were complex levers and giant gears, rendering the power of arrows meaningless.

As for the cart-pushers who fell under her arrows, they would soon be replaced by other snake-men, ensuring the giant siege hammer slowly but unstoppably advanced, ensuring that the pile of corpses on the ground, heaped like small mountains, would be ground into mush under its massive wheels.

Wislin watched as the siege hammer reached the wall beneath him, saw the enormous black smoke rise from the rear of the "Dragon Head," and saw the thick ramming column retract and gradually lift. He was puzzled because he saw no enemy pulling the weapon, only heard a rhythmic rumbling noise, and then the "Dragon Head" started working on its own.

With a fierce forward motion, the lever drove the Dragon Head to lunge, with the force of a thousand tons, and smashed against the fortress wall. Amid the cheers of the snake-men, the guards' cries of shock from the tremor, and the hair-raising sound of friction, a massive crack appeared on the sturdy wall, and fragments of stone fell off.

The first thing Wislin did upon getting up from the ground was to raise his sword high and shout, "Paladins of the Light God, fearless ones, come with me!" Then he rushed to the wall, leaped from the edge, and jumped onto the massive siege hammer.

Only by destroying this thing was it possible to defend the Five Realms Fortress—he knew this well in his heart.

Below, the arrows of snake-men shot towards them; they weren't worried about damaging the giant weapon, they just needed to aim at the knights coming up after. Wislin tightly grasped the lever beside him, avoiding falling off due to the shaking, and at the same time, had to be cautious of arrows and take the opportunity to fiercely swing his sword at the relatively fragile lever.

His actions elicited laughter from the snake-men because even those arm-thick objects were extremely sturdy, with not a scratch besides a few sparks. Paladins continuously jumped from the wall onto the Dragon Head, then were shot down. Especially when the siege hammer struck the wall, its immense force jerked most valiant warriors off, smashing them into pieces.

The scene was like a dog shaking itself, flinging water droplets from its fur.

Time and again Wislin struck at the hard rod; his sword already bent and notched. Blood flowed from the holes opened by arrows on his legs, back, and shoulders. Gradually, the snake-men stopped laughing, as they all pointed their weapons at this "insane" human soldier. Deep within, a fear began to spread.

"Wislin, come back!" Anna shouted despairingly, watching the silhouette of her good friend. Her fingers were stained entirely red with blood, wounds left from pulling the bowstring rapidly. Never in her life had she attacked so frantically, constantly urging herself, "Faster! Faster!" Arrows followed one after another, as if forming a long chain, taking down the snake-men aiming upwards.

The quiver was empty.

"Wislin, come back!" Anna had already drawn her scimitar, but a multitude of soldiers still stood between her and the knight attempting to jump onto the "Dragon Head."

Just before the snake-men shot, Wislin's sword shattered with a loud explosion, transforming into a burst of light and heat on the lever, sending the giant Dragon Head into a violent shudder, then a creaking sound, tilting to one side. Then, Wislin fell from the Dragon Head, embedded with the enemy's black Blood Demon Arrows, his red cape fluttering behind him. But those were not wings that could fly; they could only flutter weakly in the wind.

The "Dragon Head" hit the wall, creating a breach as countless massive stones fell, filling the air with smoke. In this final strike, the siege hammer disintegrated with a thunderous crash; its broken lever could no longer bear its own immense weight, like a gigantic tree hollowed out by termites, falling from the clouds.
