Mage Legend

Chapter 659: Legendary and Legends in Legends Chapter Thirteen Awakening

The grand army of Wislin employed a variety of transportation tools, including carts, carriages, and shoulder-borne carrying poles. It took over a week to completely clear out the camp of the Snake-men. Now there, only some ragged fragments remain, along with some filth that even beggars wouldn't touch.

Most of the items were placed into the warehouse of the Five Realms Fortress. In any case, the grains and dried meat brought jubilation to the soldiers in the fortress—they hadn't seen such a quantity of supplies for a long time, and the news of a victory banquet was beginning to spread. They spared no effort in caring for the surviving livestock, striving to fatten them up quickly. No one knew when the Snake-men might come back, armed and attempting to reclaim these things—but Paladins were notoriously "hard to communicate" with, so the Snake-men would likely have to exert considerable effort.

Ever since the All-Knowing Tower stopped above the fortress and covered its edges with dense aerial catapults, along with Soka's habit of venturing out alone with her bow to snipe at the three-headed Chimeras, transport throughout the Five Realms Mountain Range was finally back to normal. Caravans from all directions, having received assurance from the Knights, resumed bringing goods to this strategic hub.

In other words, things here finally returned to their former state. Regardless of the damage the Snake-men caused back then, the energy here was gradually recovering.

The busiest ones here were undoubtedly the Dwarves. Besides repairing the city walls—leaving the latter half of the work to the Rock Spirits—they also had to refurbish damaged weapons and continue producing aerial catapults. But now, all the Dwarves were gathered together, in a tent temporarily set up in the fortress, tinkering with the giant Siege Hammer alongside Lynch.

To bring this giant inside, they had to dismantle part of the city wall. Lynch was constantly trying to understand this device's capabilities, what it could actually do, and where its weak points were. With the help of the engineering masters—the Dwarves—the reconstruction work was progressing increasingly smoothly. Of course, some inexplicable explosions were always inevitable.

The mage's job, besides meticulously recording the whole process, was to suppress the device's explosive tendencies at critical moments, cooling it completely with ice. After countless disassemblies and reassemblies, Lynch already understood its working principle—leveraged by the power of steam.

It's worth noting the concept was extremely ingenious, employing no magical skills yet capable of wielding formidable force. With this device, the Snake-men could naturally accomplish many tasks unimaginable to ordinary people, explaining why their tunneling speed was so rapid.

"Lynch, I really didn't expect something like this to exist in the world." Barrend, standing beside the mage, said with hands on hips, "Luckily, such a thing appeared early and is replicable. Just give me some time, and I can have all Dwarves throughout the world manufacturing this. By then, the Snake-men would no longer have this advantage."

"Merely replicating it cannot convert the advantage," Lynch pondered, "The enemy has its strengths, and we should also possess what they lack."

"So what exactly do you want to improve in this device? Keep in mind, we haven't completely understood it yet, and any mistake could trigger a frightening reaction."

"Let me think it over again." After saying this, Lynch shut himself in a room, seeing no one. Only Zilvra could enter through the Magic Laboratory's door to bring daily meals inside. Even the Demon Statue Norton and little angel Soka could only sigh at the door.

Accompanying Soka in her sighs was another person, the injured messenger. Since recovering from his injuries, he had been searching everywhere for the angel who saved him, swearing in front of Soka to do his utmost to become her Guardian Knight. And no matter where the little angel flew, she would see the young man named Gaddy and his griffin.

"Please command me, Miss Soka," Gaddy always said, "I'm willing to go through fire and water for you."

The little angel stammered, not knowing what to say. Her sister Zilvra had once warned her, "If you command this knight, he will foolishly think you are treating him as your Guardian Knight." Zilvra also said, "To deal with such vermin, you should step on its belly and pull its tongue out along with its intestines."
